Target Has a Little Fun with HRC

August 18, 2010 by B. Daniel Blatt

While the folks at HRC can’t contain their outrage that the company (with an excellent record of treating gay employees fairly) won’t kowtow to their demands, the folks at Target are having a little fun with the left-of-center gay group.  Just yesterday, I received this report from a reader:

I am starting college next week and decided to apply for a job at Target. So I log on to their web site and saw that they have a banner up touting their perfect score from the HRC as one of the best places to work. After hearing about the greivences the HRC has with Target, I knew this bragging wasn’t incidental. It seems to me that they are using the HRC’s own words to show what a ridiculous issue they are creating. I think its hilarious, and I applaud Target for using the HRC to fight back against the HRC.

Ditto that.

Here’s the screenshot of the banner:

Guess their just reminding people that HRC’s recent grandstanding notwithstanding, the organization has honored them for treating their gay employees with dignity.  One more reason to shop at Target.

The HRC is just another liberal organization whose job is to stir up controversy and gather donations so liberal activists can avoid getting real jobs. (See also PETA, the Sierra Club, the NAACP…)

So, let me get this straight. You support Target for being anti-gay and don’t want to boycott it, yet you also want to shop at Home Depot for being attacked by an anti-gay organization? Pick a side and stay there faggy!

So, let me get this straight… a place that received an award from HRC for being the best place to work… is suddenly reviled by HRC when they want to shake Target down for some money… and dippy anonymous fags just do whatever the HRC tells them to do this week even with the flipflop and the motives for the flipflop couldn’t be more obvious?

Progressives are easily led and incapable of critical analysis.

    V the K,

Maybe they need people smarter than them to drag them kicking and screaming into the future?

Clearly the HRC Corporate Equality Index leaves a lot to be desired, but I highly doubt Target’s point here is to be “having a little fun.” Target couldn’t care less about the standards of the rating, as long as they’re able to display the banner on their site. The rating is good publicity for them, and they’re using it to hide the bad publicity they’re getting. I’m sure they have better things to do than be petty and make fun of another organization.

    (1) “grievance,” not grievence;
    (2) “they’re” just reminding people, not their.

At least the folks at HRC are literate.

I was looking around their site the other day and don’t recall seeing it, but I don’t think I was paying that much attention to the banners above.

    simple translation:
“How Dare Target fund a pro-business candidate instead of an anti-business one!”
Why if they’d just fund the one who will hurt their profit margins,, their employees bank accounts, and tax the ever living hell out of everybody, they’d be perfect.

    maybe

yes, a pro-business candidate who virulently anti-gay. I notice you often bag on liberal gays who’ve supported Bill Clinton and Obama for their contradictory positions, but you don’t have a problem with this?

Is this the same Kevin who claimed Republicans wanted to “exterminate” gays, but could never back it up with any citations?

For the militant gay leftist, “virulently anti-gay” means having the nerve to say or do anything not thoroughly approved of by the leftist leaders of Gay Inc.

Classical Liberal Dave, B. Daniel Blatt:

Though the term “virulently anti-gay” might be a gross overstatement, just a cursory look at his website shows that he is anti-gay marriage, has worked hard to deny gays the right to marry, and has promised to continue to do so into the future if elected governor. Source: http://www.emmerforgovernor.com/issues/socialvalues/

Is the HRC overreacting? Maybe so, but they are a political action group. It is literally their job to overreact. The upshot of this whole thing is that it calls into question corporate donations yet again, and hopefully people will actually stand up and take a look at the issue this time (though I strongly, strongly doubt it).

    Classic Liberal troll.

There is no ‘right’ to marry.

Which is utterly hilarious, given that HRC and its members have openly endorsed and supported people who not only oppose gay-sex marriage, but support Federal constitutional amendments to eliminate it.

HRC needs to be publicly humiliated for this. They support bans on gay-esx marriage and support politicians who oppose gay-sex marriage.

Mr. Belligerent, you would have a point — and a good one — if this were merely about HRC deciding to support Mr. Emmer’s opponent, but to throw a hissy fit about a corporation with a spotless record in how it treats its employees giving their money to a political action committee that supports that candidate, now, come on.

That said, I might reconsider my opinion if you could point to evidence that HRC demanded corporations, who gave me to the Obama campaign when that Democrat campaigned with an anti-gay gospel singer, also do penance for their actions.
