Upcoming Log Cabin (Republicans) Board Meeting

I just read this email:

Log Cabin Republicans National Board of Directors to Meet in Washington, DC

(Washington, DC) – The Log Cabin Republicans National Board of Directors will convene in Washington, DC on September 22nd for a quarterly board meeting.

For further information, contact Christian Berle, cberle@logcabin.org.

I’m just wondering if Patrick Guerriero will be there.  Or Tim Gill?  Or George Soros?  I mean will the Leftist money men reveal their hands up the backsides of their “gay Republican” puppets?  Or will the show go on and the LCR-dues paying members just be told to “move along, nothing to see.”

Oh, I’m not going… I’ll be in New York City that weekend.  More interesting gathering and people.  No disguised Socialism-as-gay-Republican-group.

  1. Ouch. Are they really that bad? I’m curious to hear more of the criticism. I was actually considering sending them some money.

  2. Considering the Liberals of the Gay Left comparing the LCR to “Jewish Nazis”, why the silence about Soros’ Nazi past? He collaborated and profited…and never has expressed remorse.

  5. Have you seen this blog article, reporting on gay protests in the Netherlands against how they are being violently attacked by Muslims, and that because of PC attitudes that don’t want to speak out against Muslims not much is done about it? http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/2010/09/violence-against-gays-in-amsterdam.html#readfurther It links to source articles, which also report of the protesters being attacked by Muslims.

  6. Coco, yes. He faithfully echoes the Left line when it counts. Lefties try to promote him as a righty, like “See? Even Andrew Sullivan agrees with us!” Which makes him a lefty; the rest is just his peculiar (and self-serving) marketing spin.

    Comment by ILoveCapitalism — September 8, 2010 @ 10:15 am - September 8, 2010

  7. ILC, don’t you think Andrew will come home sooner or later? He’s just going through a phase. But I see what you are saying; he gets used by the Left. He just has to realize they’re using him and say stop!

  9. ILC, don’t you think Andrew will come home sooner or later? He’s just going through a phase.

No. First, it’s a long “phase”: he was endorsing Kerry for President back in 2004, a choice that would have guaranteed us defeat in Iraq. Second, I think Sullivan has real mental issues. I find the quality of his thought has gone down a lot from what it was 10 years ago (when I was a big fan, btw). Have you followed his Trig Trutherism? Palin has her flaws, but Sullivan’s views there can only be colloquially called “nuts”. His case for gay marriage has also gone way down in quality, as Dan Blatt has discussed in some GP blog posts this year. Sullivan seems to be governed nowadays by his passions and a general absence of logic. I chalk it up to his long-term use of marijuana (for which he was arrested last summer I think) and of anti-AIDS drugs, both of which have been shown to affect the brain’s higher reasoning centers over time.

  10. Well, for what it’s worth, I endorsed Kerry for president in 2004, and still managed to make it back home to the GOP. I guess Sullivan might be deteriorating, it’s true. Maybe he needs to take a break from politics and stick to culture for a while. That usually helps me.

  11. Also FWIW… Sometimes I think I could be on thin ice, because a part of my evidence for Sullivan going downhill is that he no longer agrees with me ;-) But then I look at his thought process (or lack thereof) in examples like Trig Trutherism and say, “No, it isn’t just me; that guy objectively has problems.”

  12. I am not gay but I am a conservative. I would like to say how proud I am for you guys to stand up for what who you are. I wish more on our side was more tolerant. But with knownledge comes understanding. Cont to show America that you are no different than the rest of us. You can be a conseravtive and gay. Conservatism is an opinion, homosexually is a way of life.

  15. Coco: The short answer is, I agree. Sullivan has raised “posturing” to a circus art: he twists himself into pretzels, to get it done.

Following the convolutions of what passes as “thought” with him (these days) is ultimately a waste of time. I guarantee you he will end up endorsing the Democrats – certainly in 2012, and quite possibly this year. For now, he gives an “oh but I hate them so much!” type of reverse-endorsement to the Republicans:

The point is not that voters are somehow in an fit of pique backing a party whose policies they actually reject. It is that they want to break the logjam of one-party rule where the opposition party is strong enough to sabotage but denied the responsibility of actual government.

That gets so much wrong, on the level of basic fact, that one hardly knows where to begin. But for the moment, let’s stick with analyzing Sullivan’s posture. The “I hate those evil Rethuglicans so much” posture is simultaneously
    (1) his true feeling
    (2) a way to retain cred with his left-wing audience as he goes through the motions of temporarily endorsing the Republicans
    (3) a way to retain cred with himself, i.e. that he is somehow a maverick or something, when he eventually re-endorses the Democrats in the heart-wrenching future post that we all know is coming.

    You end by saying:

all I know is I agree more with the imperfect Republicans than I do with the unsalvageable dodos in the Democrat Party

That is far more convincing than Sullivan’s contortions and, for the record, close to my view. I am a recovered longtime Democrat; nowadays a libertarian-minded Independent. (That government governs best, which governs least.)

  16. Comment number 2 is insane. Accusing George Soros of collaborating and profiting? The link he provides shows that Soros was a 14 year old working for the Jewish Council of Budapest under the German occupation. How exactly does that make him a collaborator? This is insanity!

  18. The “Jewish Council” was responsible for the identification and deportation of Budapest Jews to the camps and the confiscation of their goods and property.

…”Although the Hungarian state visibly abandoned its Jewish citizens, the Jewish leadership still behaved as if the invasion had not happened. This extreme historical situation led to an extreme moral dilemma-without acceptable alternatives. If one accepted membership on the Council, he facilitated the smooth execution of the deportations in accordance with German plans, which is to say he became morally implicated in the death of his people.”
…”Eighty percent of Hungarian Jews who disembarked from the cattle cars were dead within a few hours of arrival. ”

  21. Is Planned Parenthood sponsoring Homocon? Is John Edwards speaking? After all, GOProud’s board chairman worked for both of them. And I’d love for you to provide one shred of proof of any Soros money going to Log Cabin.

And while GOProud has another cocktail party, Log Cabin will be working with legislative leaders of the GOP and the RNC. Bozos indeed.

  22. He was a 14 year old who went around with the man who was saving his life. I want to repeat he was 14 years old.
To find him culpable of any crime shows a misunderstanding of the Holocaust, and the role that its victims were forced to play to survive, or often the roles they were forced to play before they were butchered in turn.
Your accusations leave me stunned and saddened.

What’s stunning and saddening is the fact that he understood what was going on and that it was evil and people like you would bit on a pillow to make excuses.

Had I been there at that age, I would have felt guilty EVEN if I didn’t actually do anything. But then I was apparently raised better and have a conscience. I didn’t get to where I am by f*cking people over like he has.

  25. Some people say that 7 is the age of reason, hence the age where moral responsibility.

I don’t fault Soros for doing what his father wanted him to do, to survive. I might have done it myself. But Soros is to be faulted for asserting, **as an adult**, that he has “No feeling of guilt about it… no sense of guilt.” Ew! Either he is terribly repressed, or if he’s telling the truth, then he must be a sociopath.

  26. And speaking of Soros, he has now dedicated $45 million to undermining the independence of the US judiciary:

    http://michellemalkin.com/2010/09/09/soros-watch-45-million-to-sabotage-americas-judiciary/

Is really all that shocking that the chief benefactor of the American Left is such a vile, sociopathic reptile?

  27. There are about 400,000 Holocaust survivors in Israel and my aunt who works in a mental health clinic has stories of the different ways people deal with what they went through. I don’t know if you’re Jewish or have any real knowledge of the Holocaust. I would only ask that you learn more about this before judging others. Judge George Soros for what he does now, but to try to use his experience in the Holocaust against him is low, very low.
