A question for Governor-elect Brown

Citing several studies showing that people “vote with their feet” by leaving states where “big government and big labor are imposing restrictions on efficient employment markets“, Dan Mitchell asks:

If we know that pro-market policies work for states, why does the crowd in Washington push for more statism?

And why isn’t the incoming crowd in Sacramento not seeking to undo the statist policies already in place in the (once-)Golden State?  I mean, California does have the third highest unemployment rate.

Maybe those statist/pro-union policies have something to do with that?

  1. It’s easier to move out of state than it is to move out of the country. The way Washington thinks, it can control you no matter what state you live in. You still live in the USA.

  2. People ask how it can be that California’s population did not increase despite the arrival of a million+ illegal aliens. Obviously a million+ citizens moved out.

I guess these sanctuary states think the fed gov’t will bail them out forever as they keep losing paying citizens and gain remittance-sending, public program gaming illegal aliens.

Let’s make 2011 the year of Mass Deportation.

  3. ***why does the crowd in Washington push for more statism?***

Same reason corporate execs keep growing businesses past the point of maximum marginal return right up to the point where ovberall return reaches the minimum acceptable amount demanded by shareholders: a larger organization means biggerperks for those at the top.

  4. The east coast libs are moving in and the real Californians are moving out… Sad.

Real Californians are a dieing breed. It’s kinda like that South Park Episode where New Jersey is taking over the US, except this is far more insidious and uses less hair gel (except for Gavin Newsome who bathes in the crap).

For the first time in my life I want to leave the state for good, last time I did it was for financial reasons, now I feel the need to get away from the lunacy.
