This is a great piece.  When I was growing up, General Electric still stood for American values, ethics, and a pro-capitalist, individualist agenda.  The GE of my childhood was associated with Ronald Reagan, not Keith Olbermann.

In that spirit and to help celebrate Ronald Reagan’s 100th Birthday tomorrow, here is a great documentary put together by GE for the Reagan Centennial.

  2. to Steve Barnes….

You must know what you just posted above not only smacks of desperation, but it also says a lot about the degeneracy of your own personality. With that in mind, maybe you’d be best represented if you adopt as your own, a moniker of one whose stupidity and/or ineptitude exceeds the descriptive potential of both the terms ass and clown in isolation, and in so doing demands to be referred to as the conjugate of the two.

    to Bruce and GayPatriot….

Thanks for posting the video… I remember what it was like … Boy could we use a man like Ronald Reagan today.

  3. I agree that GE once seemed to be an American company which stood for American Values. Sadly however, one cannot say that of GE today. Despite sanctions, GE now does business with Iran and other countries which wish us harm. Until very recently it owned NBC and its liberal, freedom-hating MSNBC and tv anchors. GE’s leadership seems to have lost its way.

  4. Steve Barnes – thanks so much for such a thoughtful and well-reasoned opposing viewpoint. You have added so much to the discussion.

One comment stood out with me: “Reagan helped our country find itself”
Who among the presumptive candidates today can do this in 2012 and get this country back on track?

  6. Sometimes you read the inane posts/rants from socialists like Stephanie, Auntie Dog-do, et al and you have to ask yourself – do they really hate their lives so much that they have to put it on display for everyone to see?

Winston Churchill was right – “socialism means shared misery.” See post #1 above for further clarification.

  7. GE’s leadership seems to have lost its way.

Also worth remembering: GE helped itself to billions in taxpayer bailout money and under Jeffrey Immelt, has become a Big Business / Big Government type of company hoping to profit from cap-n-tax`:

Some call it “rent-seeking”, corporate welfare, corporatism or crony capitalism. For my part, I call it fascism. But whatever word is used, Reagan would roll over in his grave to know what GE has turned into.
