While I’m in between wrapping up work-related things and packing my suitcase, I wanted to put out a quick pre-CPAC post. I’m flying from Charlotte to DC tomorrow afternoon and will be “on the air” at 7pm tomorrow night (more on that below….) Throughout the CPAC conference, I’ll mostly be stationed in the Bloggers Lounge and will do my best to capture the sights and sounds. PatriotPartner (John) will also be reporting and taking photos from the conference.
I have a new camcorder, digital camera and the FlipVideo in my pocket (well, briefcase) and I’ll try to do more video interviews this year. The camcorder has already survived an early murder attempt by our dog Marley this week.
I’m also honored to be on a panel again this year at CPAC. The Blogger Free-For-All panel sponsored by Bank of Kev Productions is Saturday at noon for two whole hours. Last year’s panel was a hoot so I’m looking forward to this year even more!
Finally, I’m going to attempt live radio shows from CPAC at 7PM Eastern Time Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. Wed & Fri will be from the Marriott Wardman lobby’s bar; Thursday will be from the Bloggers’ Bash party at FreedomWorks HQ. I’ve changed the name of the BlogTalkRadio program to “The GayPatriot Report” — somehow it sounds better to me.
So to preview the experience I’m about to have, I offer you this video which shows the history of the CPAC event. Stay tuned to the blog and especially my Twitter feed for all of the latest as I hit the ground in DC tomorrow through Sunday. (That last sentence wasn’t my best example of grammar….)

Looks like it will be very cool. Wish I could be there.
Enjoy. Looking forward to updates.
I just read the Washington Times article “CPAC fissure over gays deepens” and decided to check out GOProud for myself (embarrassed that it has taken me this long).
The entire legislative agenda is nothing but conservative. Yes, even the item about not supporting an amendment to prohibit same sex marriage. A real conservative IMHO is also a federalist, and believes that marriage is a state, not federal issue. Anti-abortion, pro-gun ownership, a judiciary that looks to original intent and does not attempt to legislate, fair tax. Just what do these anti-gay conservative organizations object to?
These same organizations that love to invoke Reagan (the best president of the 20th century) seem to have forgotten the some of his beliefs and actions: (1) someone who agrees with me 80% of the time is an ally, not a 20% enemy (2) at great potential political cost, he publicly and actively campaigned against the Briggs Initiave, long before the worst president of the 20th century jumped on the bandwagon when it was clear the initiative was going to be defeated (3) welcomed contributions from the Log Cabin Club.
These neanderthals are going to marginalize themselves. We only have to get out of their way.
From the aforementioned WashTimes article:
And ‘The Narrative’ takes another body blow.
Regarding that letter, I guess Dick Cheney is no longer welcome by these groups either??
I’ve always been the one defending the anti-homosexuality right from accusations of intolerance, but I have to say I’m getting sick to death of apologizing for people who consistently make me look stupid for even trying. If you can’t tolerate the mere presence of gays at an event, then you are intolerant of gay people. Period. If “intolerant” states the truth too bluntly and embarrassingly, how might we sugarcoat it for you? Actually, don’t answer that, because I really don’t care to protect your hurt little feelings.
I agree with Roger Sherman: if certain people wish to marginalize themselves, it is not our responsibility as fellow conservatives to stop them. The anti-gay agenda isn’t failing because the culture is rotting out from under it. The anti-gay agenda is failing because it has done a miserable job of defending itself, and is too deeply in denial to adjust its arguments to a decreasingly religious society. If they would rather be martyrs than accept and adapt to reality, who are we to stop them?
Conservatives, I may be lesbian and I may disagree with some of you on a small number of social issues, but you’ve got my support whether you want it or not.
This is my first time posting here, and I’m not sure whether that comment went through…testing before I try to type it again…
Have a good time, Bruce! 🙂
Looking forward to updates
Precisely. And you should proudly wear a button proclaiming your superior stupidity.
Welcome Miss Cynica! Look forward to more of your posts.
