And how can someone be “laughably homophobic” anyway?

Just a general comment, I have read many things on here till I was just to I’ll to read any more.
I do feel a genuine sense of pity for this so called gay patriot.
Yes he has his right to be as he chooses, that is unless his GOP masters make enough laws to take away his rights.
I never would of thought, I would see a gay man as low in self esteem. I am glad you have found friends among the GOP, you deserve the fate that awaits you, the scorn, and the gay joke (s) they think you are. You will find later in life when they have turned on you, your foolishness.

I do question your ideals, you ideas, and you opinions, pretty much like the traitors in France who sided with the Nazi.

    May you beg for forgiveness.

Austin, please provide evidence of laws the GOP has sponsored to take away gay people’s rights.

And please also provide how you determine we’re so low in self-esteem. Since your question our ideals, idea and opinions, please show that you understand them.

    Thanks so much!

#4: Um, WOW. Just…wow. It’s like Austin Wade Rozell started his comment in a haiku format and from there it just collapses into a Seagrams & 7 death-spiral. Drink + tired left-wing epithet + drink + embarrassingly pious liberal sermonizing + drink + clumsy Nazi comparison…so many layers of fail (and under that, even more fail).

Just wanted to point out my favorite part: “You will find later in life when they have turned on you, your foolishness.”

Did everyone catch that? Steadfast liberal parrot and lifelong Democratic Party loyalist Austin Wade Rozell is warning US that WE are being USED by a political party. That’s right. Democrat-for-life-come-hell-or-high-water Austin Wade Rozell thinks WE are being USED by a political party. Because as WE all know, there is nothing more tragic than being USED by one’s political party. Austin Wade Rozell is right, WE would have to be complete fools to allow OURSELVES to be USED by a political party.

Austin, aside from your hyperbole, you have said nothing in your statement to back up your opinion; all you’re doing is lashing out because GOProud exists & by extension, Conservative gays exist. I believe this horrifies you.

What does the Left stand for with gays? We got Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell with a Democrat Congress & a Democrat White House. We keep getting excuses from Democrats when they NEVER deliver on their campaign promises. Gays are simply another voting block.

GOPround has a definitive charter, but unlike the impotent Log Cabin Republicans, GOProud is not a single issue movement. The Log Cabin Republicans mistake is they only stood for one issue & were used by the Democrats in many respects. GOProud cannot be since they stand for small government, lower taxes, & FREEDOM besides gay issues.

Go back to the kiddie pool Austin & play with your toys. You’re not mature enough to be in the adult pool.

    BDB. . .#5 from GOProud

DeMint Wants the Government to Weed Out Gay Teachers and Sexually Active Unmarried Female Teachers

(Washington, D.C.) – On Friday, United States Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) told a crowd in South Carolina that he supports barring openly gay teachers, as well as sexually active unmarried female teachers, from the school system. “Jim DeMint’s comments can only be described as outrageous and bizarre. The idea that someone who says they believe in limited government would support the government weeding out gay teachers and unmarried sexually active female teachers simply defies logic,” said Christopher R. Barron, Chairman of the GOProud Board. “Jim DeMint is doing his best to make Alvin Greene look sane.”

“A real limited government conservative would be talking about getting the government less involved in education – not more involved. Instead of talking about shutting down the Department of Education, supporting school choice and protecting parents’ rights to homeschool their children, Jim DeMint instead wants the government even more involved in our education system, and involved in a way that would invade the personal lives of every teacher in this country,” continued Barron.

DeMint’s comments come on the heels of increased media attention to the problem of bullying of gay teenagers and the tragically high rates of gay teen suicide. “At a time when we need to be having a serious discussion about the silent epidemic of gay teen suicide, Jim DeMint’s comments send a powerful and disturbing message to people all across the country,” said Jimmy LaSalvia, Executive Director of GOProud. “For a man who speaks a great deal about morality, Jim DeMint’s comments represent some of this most morally reprehensible comments made by a politician in modern history.”

“It is clear that the socially conservative big government wing of the Republican Party is desperate to undermine and co-op the message and enthusiasm of the tea party movement. After a year and a half of attacking the tea party movement for not being focused on their pet issues, it is clear that Tony Perkins and his crowd have embraced a new strategy – if you can’t beat’em, join’em. The tea party movement is about limiting the size and scope of the government and empowering indiviudals. The grassroots tea party activists should reject attempts by Washington Republicans like Jim DeMint to corrupt the movement’s conservative message,” concluded LaSalvia.

BDB . . .#5 The basis of Barron’s jab appears to be repeated comments made by Pawlenty, a noted social conservative, concerning his desire to take steps to reverse the overturn of “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

In an interview with Wonk Room Monday, Pawlenty said that he would even support rescinding the funds required by the Department of Defense to implement the repeal.

Barron. . .I understand that Pawlenty is trying hard to get people to pay attention to his campaign. Its certainly a challenge for someone with such little stature in the conservative movement to compete with high profile conservative leaders like Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, etc. Unfortunately for Pawlenty, comments like this simply show how totally out-of-touch he is with the issues that rank and file conservatives care about. If he wants to show he is a committed social conservative he would be much better served talking about the need to defund Planned Parenthood, end federal funding for abortion, reign in an out of control judiciary and support for a parents rigths [sic] amendment to protect home-schoolers.

BDB. . .#5 Barron again in his apology

“For the past six months, we have watched as unfair and untrue attacks have been leveled against our organization, our allies, our friends and sometimes even their families. Everyone has their breaking point and clearly in my interview with Metro Weekly I had reached mine.

Sometimes representatives of the GOP don’t even have to propose legislation or even to work to get something passed.

Yes there are folk in the GOP who support gay folk, and there are alot of folk sitting on the fence when it comes to GLBT issues, but there is certainly a camp in the GOP where gay folk just aren’t welcome or even tolerated.

After all that’s been said here, I want to share with all
of you a letter I sent to Bruce and Daniel last month
    shortly after New Year’s Day.

    ==============================================

Well My Friends… as part of my new year resolution
I made it a point to become active in the Tea Party.
Having said that, last Tuesday I attended my first monthly
meeting of the South Florida Tea Party and am now actively
participating in the mundane functions of the group … I say
mundane, cause they aren’t exactly what the media likes to
    report on.

Imagine that, Im gay, a conservative and have a seat
in city government. I’m a member of the Republican
Executive Committee in the county I live… and now
I’m registered with the local Tea Party too. And ya know
what? Never once has my being a homosexual made a
difference to anyone at any political group I belong to…
In fact, they sometimes blow me away by the way they
express their gratitude for my contributions to the discussions
    and/or events.

For the life of me I can’t remember who it was that once
cautioned me against becoming a Republican…. However,
I do remember who ever it was…. definitely was a Democrat.

    Regards,
    Spartann

West is fine with gays as long as he and his kind get to keep (Jim Crow style) laws on the books to protect moral Americans from the sodomite hordes.

    >>>Austin, please provide evidence of laws the GOP has sponsored to take away gay people’s rights.

DOMA (authored by Bob Barr), FMA (sponsored by 2003 – Musgrave, 2004 – Wayne Allard, 2005-6 – Wayne Allard, 2008 – Paul Broun), numerous state level constitutional amendments (Karl Rove, Ken Mehlman), all the attempts to evade repealing DADT (Arizona’s Senator ‘Get Off My Damn Lawn’ McShame)

How about the Texas Republican Party’s platform items pertaining to re-criminalizing gay behavior despite Lawrence v. Texas? That ought to attract the creative class to that ‘business-friendly’ state.

I’m reasonably sure Republicans in Minnesota and Montana have the same anti-gay plank in their current platforms.

Want to go for historical? How about the Briggs Initiative in California that would have made it illegal to teach while gay or lesbian.

[Oh, and Miss Dogma, please remind me again whom Sen. Briggs credited for the defeat of his mean-spirited measure? Oh yes, it was a Mr. R. Reagan, who came out against the pernicious proposal before the then (and current) governor of California, a Mr. J. Brown. And before you weigh on on Jim Cow laws, please familiarize yourself with such legislation as they are nothing like the ones you identified below. And no, neither Mr. Rove nor Mr. Mehlman had anything to do with putting said amendments on the ballot.

Please, please, please check your facts before chiming in. (But then again, I wouldn’t have so much fun responding. Sometimes shooting fish in barrels, easy as it is, can be fun. –Dan]

Careful there, Auntie Hogma, your Gays-As-Persecuted-Victims Narrative is dangerously close to a collision with your Reagan-As-Evil-Bigoted-Homophobic-President Narrative. Got any idea why the Briggs Initiative didn’t pass and is therefore merely “historical”? (Psst…it likely would have passed had it not been for the vocal, uncompromising opposition it had from a certain Governor.)

The liberal mindset, particularly the liberal gay mindset, is puzzling. By their logic, no gay person should shoot for reasoned spending, a strong national defense, and a belief in American exceptionalism, simply because Jim DeMint doesn’t like the gays. It’s a very simplistic way of thinking, akin to saying, ‘No white person should be a Democrat, after the way Barack Obama stereotyped white people when talking about his grandmother.’

It makes perfect sense, JervisTetch, if you realize that they are operating in reverse of normal; instead of assembling facts to make a logical argument, they have made a predetermined conclusion and are trying to cast about to construct the reality to support it.

In short, they have decided that all gays and lesbians must mindlessly support the Obama Party. Therefore, they must use whatever facts they can to construct a pastiche of support, even though to those of us on the outside it looks like a crazy patchwork quilt with holes shot through it.

  22. Sebastian Shaw says

The Democrats see gays are nothing more than another collective of victims to exploit for their own ends; therefore, when said Democrat is voted into an office, the Democrat ignores the gays until election. It’s a bit like Senator John McCain suddenly decides to be a Conservative Republican for 1 year while he campaigns to keep his seat for the next 5 years. When Senator McCain’s seat is secure, he lurches back into Senator Maverick with his political knife for Conservatives as he helps Democrats with their own agenda. Democrats are like McCain with Conserbatives; he only needs them to be re-elected. Afterward, they are just another voting block. Who needs morals & character when political power is gained?

    ^5, Spartann.
From my own experience, I concur with everything you’ve said.

After spending months volunteering on a campaign for a conservative candidate, I can say that NO BOD EE I worked with cared about someone’s sexual orientation. The subject came up a few times over the months.
    No one cared.
I’ll admit…I was waiting for something negative. There were many religious people in the group and I’ll freely admit to having some prejudice that there would be negative comments.
    There weren’t.
The only unfortunate thing for me was that I believe my candidate fully supported same sex marriage, but wouldn’t come out and say so because of his base.

GWM, I can start, if you don’t mind a left of center look at this. I don’t know much about WorldNetDaily, but it seems to have an extreme right point of view. When I clicked on the poll results, most of those seemed quite anti-gay, with only about 5 or 10 percent either favorable or neutral towards GOProud. A significant percentage stated that they don’t think a gay person can be conservative. But I don’t think this sample is representative of all conservatives. Besides, Internet polls hardly ever are.

As for the article itself there is concern about the conservative organizations that backed out because of GOProud’s participation. These apparently are organizations that WND believes to be crucial for conservatives. And these are organizations that have made their views about gay persons well-known. Further, ACU has had a changing of the guard, and the new leadership appears to want the groups that boycotted back into the fold.

It appears Cardenas may have been looking for an excuse to bump off GOProud, and he got it. He, ACU, and others apparently have no problem highlighting Barron’s outburst, while overlooking what is, IMO, bigotry on the part of the groups Heritage, CWA, FRC, etc., that boycotted.

I don’t think anything is a done deal at this point. We’ll have to see how this shakes out.
