Union boss won’t condemn HItler comparisons

February 27, 2011 by B. Daniel Blatt

Something to bear in mind next time you hear some from the left complain about the declining civility in our political discourse and the supposedly increasing number of right-wingers, particularly Tea Partiers, comparing the president to Hitler:

The head of one of the nation’s most powerful labor unions did not condemn the violent rhetoric in placards and signs held by union supporters demonstrating in Wisconsin despite two direct attempts Sunday to get him on the record declaring them inappropriate.

On several occasions over the past two weeks of demonstrations in the Wisconsin capital of Madison news media have zeroed in on signs that liken Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and recently ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Appearing Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka was twice asked whether he found the tone at the nearly two-week long demonstrations “wrong” or “inappropriate.”

Trumka did not answer, instead saying, “We should be sitting down trying to create jobs. … “

H/t Instapundit.

If it’s wrong to compare the president of the United States to the late German Führer (and it is), then it’s wrong to compare the governor of Wisconsin to the same bloodthirsty fascist.

Trumka dodged the question most likely because he doesn’t think it’s wrong for leftists to practice the rhetorical meaness they so sanctimoniously condemn in others. For the Left, “incivility” is when the Left is criticized and/or its agenda is thwarted. When the Left is on the offensive, though, “incivility” just doesn’t exist. We can explain it by paraphrasing Lenin, “Criticism AGAINST the Left is incivility. Criticism BY the Left is defense of democracy.” Understand now?

Trumka has blood on his hands.

Trumka and Obama will cast Big Labor as an unassailable force for good in American history. But when it comes to terrorizing workers, Trumka knows whereof he speaks.

Meet Eddie York. He was a workingman whose story will never scroll across Obama’s teleprompter. A nonunion contractor who operated heavy equipment, York was shot to death during a strike called by the United Mine Workers 17 years ago. Workmates who tried to come to his rescue were beaten in an ensuing melee. The head of the UMW spearheading the wave of strikes at that time? Richard Trumka. Responding to concerns about violence, he shrugged to the Virginian-Pilot in September 1993: “I’m saying if you strike a match and you put your finger in it, you’re likely to get burned.” Incendiary rhetoric, anyone?

Do not expect the MFM to inform the public about this.

Exactly what unions – and Fleebaggers, and leftists generally – don’t do.

Good! I’m glad he wouldn’t condemn them. All he has accomplished is to tell everyone watching that he is poisonously partisan and utterly unprincipled. He destroyed his own credibility and harmed the credibility of his close allies — like his best bud Obama and the Democrat party.

I call that a big win for us.

Well, as soon as he explains why his unions openly associate with socialists, we’ll be on track.

Oh, I forgot, AJ’s going to argue that the ISO is a ‘tea party plant.’

Trumka was taken out of context. When he was asked about the tone, etc. he was still tuned into answering earlier questions. After the program was over and he was in the limo, he got around to answering the “wrong” or “inappropriate” questions. I have the audio, here it is:

    “#%&@&#! Gregory #+@!*^$ the fishes.”

Unions are in league with the Mafia; therefore, Trumka is equally as corrupt as the union he represents as a large majority of people reject them outright. Trumka is second parasite in charge next to Obama. A parasite eventually kills its host. The people are fighting back with the Tea Party to purge the remaining parasites from the national system as the Democrats have become the parasites.

When a conservative does it, it is mean spirited. When the left does it, they´re just calling it like they see it. I would not hold my beath for an apology.

So this is your big opportunity to show equanimity in condemning people who say inappropriate things. You’ve ranted for days now about some yahoo union member using the f*ggot word at a rally. How about taking on the leader of your party, third in line for the Presidency, for saying that union members are pointing a machine gun at the heads of local officials?

When there are calls for the union members to ‘get bloody’ it seems more accurate.

Of course since you won’t condemn the Hitler comparison, counterfail, you demanding condemnation of the ‘MAchine Gun’ comment is akin to me promoting a successful weight loss regimine.

(For the record, I don’t link agressive comments to nut jobs. That’s the canard of the left, no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary.)

…and since our union friends are willing to shoot down those who oppose them, maybe a “machine gun” comment isn’t all that out of line anyway.
