Undermining Moderate Muslims with treatment of Osama’s corpse?

Earlier today, Glenn Reynolds linked Rand Simberg’s piece asking if the United States was undermining moderate Muslims by burying Osama bin Laden at sea.  This thought-provoking piece raises a lot of good questions about aspects of our strategy in the War on Terror.  In his conclusion, Simberg contends, “It is long past time for us to stop spending so much time worrying about incurring the wrath of those who make war on us. We need to spend a lot more time working on ways to get them to fear our own wrath.

Read the whole thing.

  1. By no means do the Muslims hold any claim to the high road.

When General Douglas MacArthur brought the Japanese to the deck of the MIssouri, he allowed them to surrender the deity of the emperor in order to maintain their nation.

Muslims have done precious little to cooperate openly on the war on terrorism. We owe the rotting body of Osama bin Laden no more than any road kill we pick up from the highway.

However, we have fed “political correctness” to the extent that I am surprised that we don’t build a monument to Osama bin Laden for putting us in touch with our radical Islam inner selves.

Leftists are so suckered into championing any cause of supposed “victims” that they would turn their own grandparents in for signs of purported bigotry. (Obama threw his grandmother under the bus for her “typical white person” fears of scum in black skin.)

Obama’s hulk got washed, wrapped and tossed to the fishes. That was far better than incinerating a dead dog. Why should anyone expect, let alone demand, more?

The God of Islam would be enormously petty if how your carcass was handled in death is more important than how you lived your life. Either way, Obama loses, according to my understanding of Allah.

  2. As far as the burial at sea, that in and of itself was the proper move just as it was with the corpses of the executed Nazis from the Nuremberg trials so shrines couldn’t be made of their graves. As for the Islamic funeral rites, that’s a tough one. On the one hand I’m still angry enough about 9/11 and the subsequent evil this man did that I might have overlooked it if they had shoved a sausage up his keister and let the dogs drag the body away. However, I’m also mindful that even the worst serial killer facing execution is afforded religious rites. Eh, I could either way on this one.

  3. I hope every sailor on the USS Vincent had the chance to help wash the body according to Islamic tradition. Open wide Osama, I gotta piss.

And don’t give me the crap that Islam prohibits mutilation of bodies, just take a look at the contractors in Fallujah or the US Soldiers in Somalia or the US Soldiers killed in Iran during the failed hostage rescue. If that wasn’t mutilation of the dead I’d like to know what Levi and Auntie Dogshit call it.

  5. Rand Simberg is no expert on radical Muslim mentality. This is not a subject we should be interested in the opinions of novices.
