Which gay group sold my name to the DNC?

May 3, 2011 by B. Daniel Blatt

Just got a second fund-raising letter on behalf of President Obama’s reelection effort. This is the first piece I’ve seen to indicate he’ll be running with Joe Biden, but only on the back flap of the envelope.

Now, I’m just wondering what gay group sold my name to the Democratic Party.*  Just another piece of evidence that these organizations which style themselves as gay advocacy groups are little more than shills for the president’s party.

Here’s a clue:  my name and address as they appear on the envelope from BarackObama.com is exactly the same as it appears on that of LA’s Gay & Lesbian Center.

*How else could they get my name & address?  Well, perhaps from an entertainment industry mailing list.  Or one of the charities I support.  Can a 501 (c)(3) sell someone’s name to a politicasl organization?

    Sold?

You give a gay and lesbian organization WAY too much credit if you think they did anything other than throw themselves at the Obama Party’s feet and offer themselves into slavery for a tiny pat on the head.

Probably the same person(s) who gave my e-mail to the DCCC putzs. Guess it beats having a bullseye on me though.

Well that’s a sure way to keep me in the closet.

Perhaps it was a liberal friend of yours as a joke.

Despite what the envelope said, I think Obama’s going to dump Biden for someone who actually helps him, particularly an Hispanic and/or female running mate. — especially if he continues to decline in the polls.

I worked in direct mail for 10 years. The easy answer to your question is yes. Non-profit organizations exchange or sell donor information on a regular basis. It could also be from a magazine subscription or a catalog purchase.

AE, you’re onto something. I too think he’ll dump Biden. I mean, he’s got to realize the only thing the guy has going for him is his shock of gray hair. But, he doesn’t have the wisdom said hair suggests.
