I have come to two broad conclusions about the current and former governor of California.
- He is incredibly sincere in his efforts to cut state spending and has made a determined effort to root out gratuitous programs, waste and redundancy.
- He is entirely clueless about how to fix the state’s economic woes. So determined is he to raise taxes to cover the state’s remaining budget gap, he doesn’t understand that the state’s high tax burden is one of the primary (but not the only) reasons businesses are fleeing the state.
Governor Brown is too entrenched with politics that he cannot see the forest for the trees; ironically, he helped create this mess starting 30+ years ago. He needs some distance from the bureaucracy before he can really start offering alternatives, but this isn’t going to happen.
This individual confesses that he didn’t have a plan last time. The citizens of the Golden State re-elect him in spite of this statement. And now we get the sweetheart deal for the prison guard union. He tours the State to get voter input on taxes – in spite of previous voter blow out of ballot measures regarding taxes. Clueless is as Clueless does!!!
Isn’t it funny how when a Democrat governor lays off union workers and tries to cut back their benefits there’s no outcry from the media, and the unions don’t bus in rent-a-mobs to trash the capitol?
In the deathless words of Deng Xiaoping, It doesn’t matter if the cat is black or white; what matters is that it catches mice.
