Despite the adulation that President Obama enjoys in most gay circles, he has refused to address the persecution of our fellows around the world. It is particularly striking that while he has delivered two speeches in the past four days on the Middle East, citing in his speech this past Thursday at the State Department, our promotion of “political reform and human rights in the region“, he did not mention the plight of homosexuals suffering under Islamicist oppression.
Nor had he mentioned their suffering in his June 4, 2009 speech in Cairo.
Perhaps, it’s because on gay issues, he takes his cues from the gay left, all too many who fear losing their sense of solidarity with the broader “progressive” movement for whom alliance with some of America’s enemies is paramount. All too often they lose sight of the individuals who suffer under the rule of anti-American regimes.
Over at Commentary Contentions, Jonathan S. Tobin wonders at “David Kaufman’s bizarre and confused article in Time magazine that focuses on ‘pink washing’—the term used by leftists to describe the discussion of Israel’s stance on gay rights.” Kaufman, Tobin finds, is concerned that some cite Israel’s exemplary record on gays as a “cover to stop people from denouncing Israel for its alleged abuse of the Palestinians”:
The reason why Israel’s gay rights record is relevant to the broader discussion about the conflict in the Middle East is not a matter of mere public relations. The point here is one of understanding the difference between an open society and a culture rooted in fundamentalist Islam and irredentist nationalism, which sees all minorities as objects of hate. The drive to isolate and eradicate the one non-Muslim majority country in the Middle East is rooted in the intolerance that is at the core of the culture of Israel’s foes. The equal rights enjoyed by gays in Israel and the oppression and violence they face in Palestinian society as well as in much of the Arab world is a perfect example of the difference between liberal democracy and intolerant Islam.
Read the whole thing.
If the president is such an ally of gay people, why is he so unwilling to hold up Israel as an exemplar of how a nation in the Middle East should treat gay people? And to encourage its Arab nations to follow that example?
(H/t: ThatGayConservative.)
The reason is clear : Mr. Obama is a whore for the gay-left. They pay him. He gives them a verbal blow job. He walks away and the gay-left “Jon” thinks the whore loves him. if the Jon withholds his money, the whore would not perform.
An excellent discussion on this topic was done on May 13, 2011 at Front Page Magazine, when they interviewed Advocate op-ed writer Michael Lucas.
An excerpt:
“…It is very difficult to both be gay and advocate for Israel because it immediately pegs you as a right-winger, which is not a good thing in the gay community. It is even worse for me since in my articles for The Advocate I go beyond support for Israel and frequently give harsh criticism of Islam. I not only oppose their aggression towards the West and Israel, but I condemn them for their treatment of gays, women and minorities. For speaking about the issues I have been accused of being a racist and called all sorts of names, such as a pro-Zionist peddler, a genocidal pornographer, and a fascist, among other things. That never stopped me and never will stop me from saying what I want when I want to.
If you look at my articles in The Advocate, you will see that no matter how well I articulate my points and how accurate my facts are, I am sometimes completely demonized in the comments sections. Have I lost friends? Some. Do I get in lots of fights with people? Absolutely. Is it painful for me? Of course it is. It is very painful. In general, you become an immediate outcast in the gay world if you are accused of being “conservative”. There is nothing remotely conservative about speaking for Israel and criticizing Islam. There is nothing conservative about speaking the truth.

Worng! Conservatism is all about speaking the truth. It’s the left that creates and inhabits a fantasy world where deficits don’t matter, nobody needs oil, and Islamists are the allies of gays.
Worng s/b Wrong, of course.
BTW, note to left-wing gays: the moment the Muslim vote becomes bigger than the gay vote, the Democrats will throw you to the dogs quicker than yesterday’s lunch meat.
#5 – Exactly right. The cozy little snow-globe world in which gay leftists reside is being inched closer to the edge of the table all the time. One of these days, it’s going to slide off, and crash…
#5.. Or is it the moment Muslim $$$ get larger and the Muslims give votes unconditionally?
I wonder if the rise of Islamic influence in America and it’s affect on our politics will be mirrored by the rise of orthodox and ultra-orthodox influence in Israel? For how much longer will g/l rights survive in Israel before they get rolled-back along with many other minority rights and protections?
While Israel is quantum-steps beyond many of it’s neighbors, the inherent tensions between being “Jewish” and “Democratic” create contradictions that extend way beyond just the demographics backing a refusal to allow a “Right of Return” to the Palestinians. How long before equal-citizenship for the Israeli Christians and Israeli Arabs and Druze slips to a defacto second-class citizenship? The same could happen to the g/l community.
The same happens here with social-Right politicians and activists eroding or thwarting g/l rights here in America.
Which is why the whole rainbow and tolerance™ thing is bullshit.
Fair questions.
@VtheK “BTW, note to left-wing gays: the moment the Muslim vote becomes bigger than the gay vote, the Democrats will throw you to the dogs quicker than yesterday’s lunch meat.”
Thank god we can run to the loving arms of the Republican party assured that their conservative values can be trusted not to involve themselves in our lives and families. Oh wait yeah they hate gays, it’s an official party plank. and yes yes, the rank and file won’t use the world “hate” they’ll say they support “family values” indicating that gays are outside of families.
In the long run is Israel capable of existing solely as a Jewish state? I have increasingly come to doubt this and given the birth rate in country versus their neighbors, and their increasingly draconian marriage laws underline the problem. I think the writing is on the wall, there is no way to maintain the type of country they want in the world today given their need for labor, resources, and security. They will eventually have to negotiate with their neighbors and as the time passes the gains they made from the previous wars will be whittled away by the larger numbers of their enemies. The Israeli right is increasingly entrenched and less willing to find ways to coexist, and rather than finding ways of increasing dialog they have relied on the security walls to isolate them from their real situation Yes they provided safety, but like the chinese found impressive walls can provide a false sense of security that leave you blind to the evolution of your enemies. Yes the problem is equally of the Palestinian and world stage’s making however that doesn’t make it go away or make it any less threatening. The current idea that they have to have extra territory for defense means that their expectation is for generation conflict rather than change in their lifetimes. This is the root of the problem, neither the Israeli’s or the Palestinians can conceive of life without this war. Eventually the palestinian’s will have the numbers to swamp any form of defense the Israeli’s construct by sheer force. I suspect that they could begin to whittle away at the problem by offering citizenship to certain Palestinians who would prefer to live in the world on the modern Israel instead of the gang world of Palestine, second accept that they will have to share Jerusalem. If you cannot defeat your enemy with battle, co-opt their base.
He has made it very clear – he is pro Palestinian the whole way – screw the gays.
Gee, Muslims want to kill you. Republicans don’t want you to have marriage (but mostly support civil unions) but otherwise will leave you alone. Why this is a hard choice for people is something I honestly don’t get.
V the K,
Tim’s not upset about the Gheys bit. He’s upset that Republicans don’t understand his love of children.
@Leah While I can’t be sure I’ve bought more pizzas for the IDF than you I can safely that I’m not in any way inherently pro-Palestinian. Nor am I under any mis-understandings of what life is like for gay Palestinians. However both those things don’t matter a hill of beans worth when you start looking at the demographics of the situation. I’m saying that their strategy as it is currently practiced is flawed and in the end it will not lead to their survival or goals.
If merely stating that is enough to be called pro-Palestinian than why bother to think at all. If no one is allowed to tell the emperor he has no clothes than let him walk to his doom naked.
@The_Livewire you believe that religious parents should be allowed to kill their children if they believe it’s right so don’t talk to me about your love of children.
Care to find the quote?
I can point to where you said that anyone who has issues with 50 year olds having sex with 15 year olds is fine.
Then again, you can always have your boyfriend show you how to use the web search. I hear children are good at that.
@The_Livewire you’ve never publicly denounced ND30 for saying it so on this website it’s practical fact that you not only believe it also but you rush to suffocate children and blame it on jesus.
Does anybody know what the f*ck Tim is talking about? There’s folks on meth who make more sense.
Tim’s desperate to spin that he’s hot for 9th graders is all, TGC.
Note how he can’t provide a quote, it doesn’t exist. He thinks he’s being clever trying to spatter everyone with a broad brush (likely some art his BF brought home from Kindergarden finger painting) when he’s dealing with his own words being used against him.
I must have missed where ND30 said Christian parents should kill their gay children, but I can sort of understand being upset about that if you thought it would reduce your dating pool. (JK)
I don’t like Republicans either, but I like to think my criticisms are substantive and not hysterical.
really Livewire insinuating that I’m dating a child is in some way not being juvenile and stupid? While me implying that your a child murderer is somehow beyond the pale? You do realize that nothing in that comment stream actually supports your contention about me?
As for my dig at you do you think that religious people who allow their children to die of treatable conditions are in the right? Or should society act for the benefit of the children and remove them from religious parents who don’t believe in medicine? ND30 says that it’s not a big number that die so it’s not important.
@V the K it’s not that i hate republicans or democrats, both have good ideas from time to time, but blind partisan adoration is pointless. I’m tired of working with local republicans and than having them close ranks with the likes of Sally Kern when she starts talking about gays being worse than terrorists and that her religion should be the foundation of all law. As for the ND30 dig it came up around the topic of abortion, in which he is radically opposed to all forms of abortion, but was ok that parents could kill their children by not sending them to the doctor and resorting only to pray. his quote was, ” it’s only around 1280 children a year” so it’s not that big a deal.
I only wish there were enough common sense in the world for there to be clarity on when an outsider should intervene in a parent’s right to raise children as they saw fit and when they should mind their own business. If Government has no business telling you what you can do in your bedroom, what business does it have telling you how to raise your children?
As for the ND30 dig it came up around the topic of abortion, in which he is radically opposed to all forms of abortion, but was ok that parents could kill their children by not sending them to the doctor and resorting only to pray. his quote was, ” it’s only around 1280 children a year” so it’s not that big a deal.
Actually, I can provide the exact quote.
Quote from Timmeh:”When faith lets parents kill their children or deny them life saving medicine for treatable conditions how is that any worse than abortion?”
According to statistics, a little less than 2,000 children per year in the United States die due to child abuse or neglect.
Planned Parenthood alone kills 150 times that many.
So when one considers that Planned Parenthood is responsible for only about a third of the million-plus abortions performed in the United States annually — which, for the record, Timmeh, means abortions kill 500 times as many children as abuse or neglect does — there is an ENORMOUS difference.
Especially since Timmeh is demanding that we spend billions of dollars subsidizing this infanticide.
I would also point out that that abuse and neglect amount is TOTAL and is not broken out by religious belief or anything of the sort, so even if one makes the impossible assertion that all deaths due to abuse or neglect are as a result of religious beliefs, Timmeh and his fellow liberals kill nearly 500 times that many children annually in the name of “choice”.
And that’s what makes this really funny. Timmeh screams that women have the “right” to kill their babies at any time, for any reason, because of “choice”. Yet Timmeh blows a gasket and screams that people have no right whatsoever to kill children because of their religious choice.
When you understand Timmeh’s insane antireligious bigotry and hatred of Christians and Jews, which is the overwhelming and majority opinion in the gay and lesbian community, you can understand the whole pink-washing phenomenon. Gays like Timmeh support murderous Muslims and regimes that openly murder gay and lesbian people simply because said regimes and such people are also anti-Christian and Jewish. It’s a fascinating amalgam of anti-male, anti-white, anti-Western, and anti-Judeo-Christian beliefs.
As for my dig at you do you think that religious people who allow their children to die of treatable conditions are in the right? Or should society act for the benefit of the children and remove them from religious parents who don’t believe in medicine?
Let’s see; according to the CDC, the rate of HIV infection, which is considered a lethal disease, is 44-86 times higher among those who engage in gay sex as opposed to those who do not.
Therefore, it would be acting for the benefit of children to remove them from households where gay sex is taught and supported, which would be all gay and lesbian households.
And, since more Americans die annually from HIV infection than have been killed in terrorist attacks, gays and lesbians are worse than terrorists.
Now watch as Timmeh the Bigot blows a gasket when he’s forced to acknowledge that his concerns for children and public health are a) completely contradictory to the practices he supports and endorses and b) quite obviously mere covers for his insane hatred of Christians and Jews.
Thanks for the clarification, ND30. As usually, your remarks were selectively edited to match the agenda of your opponents.
so what does any of that have to do with Israel’s long term survival strategy?
And now, Tim, having been shown to be the fool *again* tries to change the subject.
And if you don’t understand why no one is buying your spin that you weren’t saying 15 year olds having sex with adults is cool, maybe when your BF gets off the school bus, he can explain it to you.
Tim’s just upset that he got called out again lying.
“NDK and the rest, if you really can’t see a difference between a 15 yr old engaging in consensual sex and a much younger child being molested, you need to adjust your moral compass.” So I think it’s perfectly fair to talk about your dating pool at recess, you find age isn’t an issue if it’s ‘consensual’.
And to answer Tim’s question…
I think we can use Tim as an example of how this affects Israel, the administration will follow a similar doctrine.
Adminsitration slips and lets its true colours show.
Gets called on it.
“I didn’t say that!”
Internets show where he did say that.
“That’s not what I meant!”
Yet, yes, yes it is.
“You’re all mean, and I’ll make wild accusations!”
Straw men burned.
“Well I’m going to change the subject!”
Attention diverted Israel dies.
Really because more gays die of AIDS than were killed in 9-11, gays are worse than terrorists? By that logic cars are the greatest evil of all, and smoking cigarettes is again to shooting children in the head. Tell me where you learned deductive reasoning because I want to go there and slap them and keep other children away.
You know what if you guys aren’t even at the point of differentiating between gays and terrorists than this is all pointless. You just need to put all your women in burquas, teach your children that their bodies are evil, and that sex is evil, grab a few turbans and join your holy war to bring people back under the one true god. If every single gay is to be judged by the lowest common denominator and blamed for all the evil in the world than why bother to try to make a difference at all.
This last weekend a conman succeeded in bilking god fearing christians out of 140 million dollars and there’s not a thing wrong with that in this world. Stating that religion is not always a net good, and that there’s no proof of god or an after life I’m the life hater?
If every single gay is to be judged by the lowest common denominator and blamed for all the evil in the world than why bother to try to make a difference at all.
Oh really, Timmeh?
Then why do you judge all Christians by Westboro?
Then why do you keep bringing up the example of “when faith lets parents kill their children or deny them life saving medicine for treatable conditions” when referring to religious parents?
Then why are you screaming that the “conman” this weekend demonstrates that religion is never a net good and that everything about it is fake?
Little boy Timmeh doesn’t like having to play by his own rules, that’s why.
That’s what “equality” is, Timmeh — being treated equally. But as you make clear, you don’t WANT to be treated equally, and more importantly, treating others equally. You want special treatment, special privileges, and unlimited welfare so you can sit on your ass and whine about how awful your life is and then blame Christians and Jews for all your problems.
You want to cheat, Timmeh. And that’s all you are — a miserable cheater who thinks his sexual orientation justifies him cheating.
Gays like you belong in jail, Timmeh. Maybe there you would learn to be a responsible, productive citizen instead of an adult baby screaming that you’re going to kill yourself unless society does exactly what you want.
@ND30 charming as ever, a great example of a humble thoughtful Christian. Thanks for reaffirming my faith in exactly what kind of person that is.
so let’s see, all gays are evil except you and your chosen buddies, gays shouldn’t be allowed near children, shouldn’t be allowed to teach, (or hold office?) gays like me belong in jail because we’re life haters and mock religion, and people like you should be in control. A gay man living with his partner in san fransico, who thinks that gays are worse than terrorists. gotcha.. You are such a role model, I wanna have your babies.
Although I don’t always agree with ND30 and indeed we have shunned each other in the past over some disagreements, one must give him credit for responding to challenges directly and without dodging or obfuscation. He always makes clear exactly what he means, and doesn’t hide behind passive-aggressive games, nor does he martyr himself on the cross of gay victimhood.
Even These Douchebag Hippie Lunatics Have the Right to Raise Their Children As They Like. In this case, as gender-confused nightmares waiting-to-happen. How this is better than parents who try to change their gay kids I do not know; I have too much common sense.
The equal rights enjoyed by gays in Israel…the gheys in the Israeli military, recognition of married gay folk entering Israel, etc.
Looks good to me.
http://articles.sfgate.com/2011-05-15/world/29547614_1_religious-gays-gay-rabbis-gay-couples
More on the progressive movement of the orthodox gays
I suspect the blind allegiance to the democrat party and blind hatred of Israel and the United States that is a blight on the gay left is a manifestation of self hatred. If you hate America and you are American, then you hate yourself. If you side with the PLO that executes gays and treats women like cattle, aren’t you siding with the enemy that would destroy you? You simply cannot love yourself and do that.
Huh?!
Your examples of deductive reasoning, a bastardization of what was written, sounds like the same kind of reasoning used to justify killing thousands of GOM jobs and contributing to high gas prices in the name of protecting the environment.
Read it again, dumbass. He didn’t say that gays were equal to. You do know what differentiate means, don’t you?
He’s waiting for his BF to graduate Elementary school before he goes on to the BIG words, TGC.
