CNN: More interested in News Mogul’s Foibles than Obama Administration Misdeeds

July 13, 2011 by B. Daniel Blatt

Whenever one of the TV monitors at my gym has been turned to CNN this past week, I’ve caught the various pundits, anchors and reporters breathless with schadenfreude at the phone hacking scandal related to Rupert Murdoch’s recently defunct News of the World.

Unable to rival Murdoch’s FoxNews int the quality of their product or the size of their audience, CNN’s various personalities have pulled a page from the Democratic playbook:  when you can’t win on ideas, accuse them of scandal.  And while CNN devotes hours upon hours to the coverage of their rival, they have all but ignored potentially scandalous activity in the Obama administration.

They seem to think it’s more important to look into the activities of a rival journalist than investigate the Justice Department’s involvement in a plan to facilitate the sale of guns to Mexican drug cartels (and possibly even Honduran gangsters).  Or the withholding of documents in a congressional investigation of a “a $335 million federal loan guarantee given to a politically correct clean energy firm.”

Now, we’ve got a trio of septua- and octogenarian Democratic Senators writing “Attorney General Eric Holder asking Holder to look into concerns that News Corp. — the parent company of Fox News — violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, known as the FCPA.”  Although Mr. Rockefeller is certain **CERTAIN** they’ll “find some criminal stuff”, his certainty is based less on actual evidence of wrongdoing than prejudice against FoxNews.   Ever since Watergate, Democrats have always been convinced that their ideological adversaries (real and perceived) are guilty of criminal activity.

And so too it seems are the media.  I mean, why else would they have been so interested in the Bush Justice Department doing its job in firing a handful of U.S. Attorneys and so incurious about the Obama Justice Department involvement in a plan to sell guns to gangs who murder U.S Border Patrol agents?

Dan, you forget. Obama is a democrat. His wrongdoing is uninteresting as it doesn’t serve the narrative.

Kevin pretty much sums it up.

CNN follows the lead Democrat & barks like a good dog. And they wonder why they have low ratings? CNN is worse than when Clinton was President of the United States.

Wow, I had no idea News Corp owned News of the World had hired a P.I. to hack into a dead gir’ls phone to extract salacious details, hampering a police investigation in the process. Thanks for the heads up! I can only hope that Murdoch’s vast media empire is investigated on this side of the pond too!

Is that your best rundown of the Obama administration’s scandals? Yawn. That stuff doesn’t trace back to Obama, where is there evidence of any kind of wrong-doing or cover-up on his part? When you compare that to newspaper executives hacking into the voicemails of the British Royal Family, you really still need an explanation for why one story is getting more coverage than the others?

Levi, I don’t believe Daniel ever once even intimated that Obama himself was involved with this (although that has yet to be determined conclusively), so why you feel the need to defend him personally is a mystery to me. Perhaps you can clear that up.

Secondly, I find it tragically typical that you seem to be just fine with a scandal that has cost the life of a law enforcement agent, provided it doesn’t directly involve the POTUS. A fine example of moral relativism, wouldn’t you say?

When you compare that to newspaper executives hacking into the voicemails of the British Royal Family,

When you compare that to al-Qaeda Times executives running national security info on the front page, you really have to wonder who gives a shit about that.

And does the name Anthony Pellicano ring a bell?

Plus it seems that tens of millions of Porkulous cash was used to fund the weapons sold to the cartels. And who took charge of the Porkulous? VP Joe Biden.

Now, remember a few years back when you libs were whining about weapons bought in the USA were winding up in the hands of the cartels, except they weren’t? Enter a Leninist-Marxist President and his administration to make the story true. That way, you can demand even more gun control laws.

Also, the town of Columbus, NM shut down their police department after the chief, mayor(D), a trustee(D) and others were indicted in running guns to the cartels.

    Interesting, no?

Ah hypocracy… thy name is Levi.

Remember how he screamed that Abu Grahib was ordered by President Bush? He could never back that up (surprise!) Yet here we have proof that the policies at least initiated in the Executive Branch, if no smoking gun pointing to the President himself (yet), and Levi says we should just ignore it.

@ TCG, I had to look up Anthony Pellicano. Facinating.

@Leonard. Yes we should get right on that, right after we hang Bradley Manning, Prosecute Chucky Schumer for illegally getting Michael Steele’s Records, the Clinton Administration for collecting FBI files… You know, those things we have proof for. As opposed to investigating ‘might have beens’.

And remember, Levi, a government whistle blower made Operation Gunrunner into an issue. On the back of your liberal membership card, it says that you’re sworn to protect, defend and believe all government whistle blowers.

Pellicano was all over Drudge just about every day for the longest time. I just remembered the last name and something about illegal wiretaps. I had to look it up to refresh my memory.
