Obama is Unfit To Govern (in Time of Trillion-Dollar Deficits)

The National Review‘s Kevin D. Williamson sums it up:

In one of the most awkward and vapid performances I can remember his having given, Pres. Barack Obama yesterday made it clear that he has learned absolutely nothing from the debt-ceiling debate — that he may be incapable of learning. He continued to talk nonsense about government “investing” in this, that, and the other, and said that was how the nation creates jobs. It was a self-discrediting performance.

Emphasis added.  (Via Instapundit.)  Williamson also details how he would balance the budget.

Even after his $800 billion stimulus failed to generate the promised employment numbers, the president still thinks we should be spending more money to jumpstart the economy .  He sounds like a man who, after maxing out his credit cards, ask Visa to raise his credit limit so he can spend a little more to get his life in order.

Um, Mr. President, weren’t you paying attention during the recent debate?   We don’t have the money to fund your new schemes — or any new schemes for that matter.

Someone looking for new means of government “investment” at a time when federal borrowing exceeds the Gross Domestic Product is not fit to lead.

  1. At the same time Obama’s being cheered on by the likes of Paul Krugman to spend even more than he did the first time.

    We are so screwed.

  2. When met with defeat in any way, President Obama ignores reality; he ignored reality when a Republican won his old senate seat in 2010, he ignored reality when a Republican won the late Senator Ted Kennedy’s long held “safe” seat, he ignored the 2010 midterm repudiation. Likewise, I expect 2012 to be much worse for the Democrats & President Obama. Obama lives in his own fantasy world trying to bring his Marxist Utopia a reality at any cost. This is why he’s unfit to govern. He’s not a leader but a radical cult of personality narcissist.

  4. I had my monthly business round table yesterday.
We all agreed it was not time to hire yet. THe economy may be heading into a new recession. We can have an impact by NOT HIRING to send a furthur message to the liberals.
The MSM seems ignorant to what could immediately improve the jobs picture in America.
    1. If the democrat liberals in this admin would liberalize drilling in the gulf and the atlantic coast, 10o,000 high paying manufacturing jobs could be created in 60 days. Here in PA we creating tens of thousands of fracking jobs today. Mostly because our Republican Gov has refused Democrat requests to regulate the fracking industry to death.
    2. Obama could liberalize logging regulations in the northwest to bring back the tens of thousands of jobs lost in the last decade in the lumber industry in 5 states in the west.
    3. The govenment could begin to sell off federal lands in the west for mineral resource exploitation. 80% of Utah and Idaho are federally owned. They should insist any lands be put back to pristine conditions afterwards. Industries have gotten very good at that.
    4. Obama could recind Obamacare, and almost every business would have uncertainty over heathcare costs in the next 3 years disappear, freeing them up to hire and not continue to allow staffing to decline.
    I’m a businessman.
I know how to create jobs.
I was never a community organizer. Does that count for anything?

  6. President Obama is not that awful a commander-in-chief. Remember, he’s black, so for someone of his skin color, he’s doing a fine job. With affirmative action, he is about on par with most black job seekers.
