Since when do conservative Republicans want to hang gay people?

February 2, 2012 by B. Daniel Blatt

In his review of Wanted Women, “a new joint biography of two Muslim women [which] refuses to distinguish between an al-Qaida terrorist and a feminist intellectual“, historian Andrew Roberts provides one example of the author’s twisted sense of moral equivalence:

Writing of a speech that [Somali-born campaigner for Muslim women’s rights, Ayaan] Hirsi Ali was set to give, [author Deborah] Scroggins alleges that “some of the anti-gay Islamic attitudes she planned to criticize weren’t very different from those of some conservative Republicans.” Really? Show me a bill in which conservative Republicans have attempted to change the law so that homosexuals are hanged, as happened to three gay men in Iran this past September. Those innocents were only the most recent victims of that country’s blood lust against homosexuals.

Via Instapundit.  Sometimes it seems that some on the left harbor more animus against conservative Republicans than they do against radical Islamicists.

According to my liberal friend, there will no hangings here in the USA, but there will be gas chambers because, of course, the Republicans are all Nazis…

That is not only the way it seems, that is the way it is because among other things they are radIcal Islamicists. Amazing one never reads about the gays being hanged in Islamic countries in our newspapers or on TV.
    Thank god for GP.

When Reagan was running for re-election in 1984, there were people at the local gay bar absolutely-convinced that the US Army Corps of Engineers were secretly-building “the camps in Montana” during the campaign season, and who expected martial law with summary-roundups to be declared at the Inaugural.

    Some things never change…

To me, it always seems like that. It in fact seems like a few lefties are willing to align with radical Islamists whenever both the lefties and the Islamists oppose the same things (which happens surprisingly frequently). Considering the leftist charicature of an Evangelical Christian is arguably more apt when applied to a radical Muslim, and considering the left hates Evangelical Christians but apparently not Muslims, it doesn’t make any sense (like many things progressives apparently believe in).

I always have to laugh when people who think they know me online call me a homophobe because I’m conservative. Shhhhh don’t tell my mother, my cousin, the girls that live with me, the guys on GP…. And they wonder why I don’t find their opinions worth much.
