  1. If I wanted America to fail… I’d be a strawman who doesn’t really exist.

That is a stupid, insulting ad. I stopped at about the 3:30 mark, having seen all I needed to see. If that’s what you believe the left-wing in America wants, then there really is no hope for America. How the hell could you ever work with people you believe think like that? You couldn’t, and a house that utterly divided cannot possibly stand.

  2. Prove the ad wrong then…. with specifics. Thank you.

  3. Meh… It’s too long. They have “Saturday Night Live” syndrome, where something that might have been great gets ruined because the script writer / director just don’t know when to wrap it up and end up ruining a great one minute idea by trying to make it an eight minute one. It lost it’s effectiveness about a minute in.

And yes, the gay guy IS complaining about something being too long… Size Queens!!!! :-)

  4. @GayPatriot: That would mean watching it again and paying attention past the “First it was global cooling, now it’s global warming LOL!” part where I switched off before, so no.

  5. #4.. Wow, that was a big surprise! Liberals, if they are anything, are predictable online cowards.

  6. @TnnsNe1: If I’ve got one good thing out of this site, it’s that I’ve learned to stop rising to challenges from people whose opinion I do not respect, and insulting me is a very good way to ensure that I will not respect yours.

  7. Serenity has admitted she only comes here to “antagonize” the other participants; so if you are expecting any kind of serious rebuttal to the video, you’re barking up the wrong tree.

  8. #7.. I am quite used to hit-n-run liberals posting on a local newspaper forum. I find them to be quite amusing. I like barking up their trees. It just shows how cowardly they are. The usual response I get from locals when I ask them to post information to support their point is : “If you are too stupid to find the information, I am not going to do your work”.

I grew up in the 70′s with the “ice age” fears from environmentalists. I don’t have to read about it, I lived, I had to report on it at school. I knew it was hogwash then, I know it is hogwash now.

  9. Serenity – Then I would respectfully suggest you are not welcome here if you are unwilling to defend your actions, and merely throw talking point hand grenades.

    Good bye.

I don’t see this as representing the left as “wanting America to fail.” I see it as demonstrating how their actions are basically the same as someone who does want it to fail. Whether or not they actually want it to fail is beside the point.

  11. @#3 – You’re right – its too long. It would have been most effective at half the length (2:20) at most.
@#5 – Leftists (like the Trans-Atlantic tw*t @#1,4, & 6), are cowards EVERYWHERE, not just on the Web.
In Bizarro world where leftists dwell: up is down, wrong is right, hate is love, death is life, and failure is success, thus the devastating accuracy of the video.

Your point in #12 is correct, but leaderships argument is that we are still too far out from the election. In their world the fight doesn’t start till Labor Day. I thinc we will see this kind of stuff from the PACs and other like minded groups.

  16. I’ll give them this – it’s creative. Might be a little long, and frankly somewhat shallow. The latter makes me disagree with parts of it simply because it makes assertions without recognizing any complexity at all, and seems to imply everything is simple. It would be more effective as a series with each separate vignette (sp?) focusing on one issue in more depth. But it’s way better than that ridiculous “Gathering Storm” ad from a year or so ago. :-)

  18. We are about a quarter to a third of the way to failure according to the ad. Let’s not get halfway there with a second term for His Majesty.

    Comment by davinci — April 23, 2012 @ 7:14 pm - April 23, 2012

  19. Most libs (exclude Occupy Wall Street and college professors) want America to succeed, but their thoughts and actions will lead to failure. Why may you inquire? Well, they generally live in a cocoon of wanting to control human beings and human nature, and that just won’t transpire.

    Comment by davinci — April 23, 2012 @ 7:35 pm - April 23, 2012

  20. The libs don’t want their view of America to fail. They can’t bring themselves to speak out, proudly for statism, socialism and progressing toward …… well, Cuba, if it worked right ….. which is their own admission that they may not have their brains in gear, but they sure do know what they hope and feel and want and desire.

So, when anyone points out failure or pronounces failure, the only recourse for the libs is to attack the person’s heart, intent, spirit, character, etc. If you deny the validity of the lib’s hope, feelings, wants, desires, etc, you are a villain.

This is the sum total of all leftist taffy pulls. They have perspective. If you criticize the failings of Head Start, that means you favor child labor and keeping kids from going to school and eating balanced meals and forcing them to eat broken glass in the middle of the freeway at rush hour.

That is why libs can not debate. They have only two gears: Superiority and outrage. You either agree or you get set upon.

Name for me just one liberal who can promote the core ideas of liberalism and make a point without smearing and distorting. That would be the person who can hold his own with the general public on talk radio. Unfortunately, you can’t hold an audience by hectoring and whining, so, the great liberal ideals seem to go entirely unrepresented and debated.

Did Amy just completely self-destruct today, or what

She must’ve just really lost her sh*t over the fact that Top Gear hasn’t yet been declared an enemy of the Crown, and continues to kick sand in the face of every idiot liberal Briton in the U.K..

  25. Many conservatives look upon Obama and his promise to “fundamentally transform” America and the histories of the people he appoints and hires and listens to and we see a “stealth socialist.”

Why, “stealth” socialist? Because he denies it. He pleads innocence. He tells his adoring set that he is just a plain, old moderate justice and fairness guy who is full of hope and willing to change things for the better.

Anyone who claims Obama is a socialist is in for a ration of denial from liberals who don’t like being called liberals. However, immediately following the election, Newsweek, the premier moribund body of opinion journalism, ran a cover proclaiming: “We Are All Socialists Now.” Ooops!
It didn’t sell and from thereafter, the liberal progressives have banned the word. (Call Obama a socialist and listen to the pig yard squeals you immediately get from the progressives.)

What is it exactly that progressives are progressing toward? And just when did it become de rigueur for the opposition to look the other way?

Obama has hidden his past. Much of it is under lock and key. He has released a birth certificate copy after much trumpeting by Trump that has enough technical problems embedded in it to create legitimate suspicion of its authenticity.

His styrofoam columns, head halo photos, fainting women, Pepsi generation logo, Mussolini chin thrust, are not very reassuring that this narcissist president is not smitten with charismatic leadership techniques used in the last 100 years to elevate elected officials to “president for life.”

Velvet revolution is necessary in a strong representative democracy, because the people are not ready, willing or interested in over throwing the existing order. Therefore, it has to be done from within. Pass Obamacare by stealth means. Operate with no budget. Empty the treasury for your supporters and choke your opposition. Demagogue. Make recess appointments while the Senate is not in recess. Rule by fiat (executive order.) Ignore court orders. Rule by a use of a shadow cabinet.

We are not supposed to notice this. If we do, we are “conspiracy theorists” and lunatics. We are not supposed to notice the phony carbon credit market scheme based in Chicago and predicated on tenuous consensus science that is becoming more and more unraveled. We are not supposed to notice that the CBO used the formula they were ordered to use and Obamacare did not add one thin dime to the deficit. Now we are not supposed to notice that the CBO has recalculated the figures under the same formula and found they were understated by almost 100%. We are not supposed to notice that Obama’s pledge concerning the Obamacare deficit is gone with the hot air.

Yet those who support Obama are mercifully free from having to explain any of the above. Their only job is to snicker and ridicule those of us who do.

And then, we get hectored about civility and instructed what to say and not to say and how to chat so as not to tire and disappoint those of opposing views.

Yet, in all of this, it is instructive to “fisk” these claimers and complainers and attempt to counter and corner them into saying something substantive and defend it. This is not so much aimed at reforming their techniques as it is to expose their techniques to others.

  26. Heliotrope, I think the leftist dodge is that anything short of outright nationalization of all industry and commerce is not *really* socialism. As long as Obama lets even one private company remain, it’s unfair, they say, to call him a “socialist.”

Now, what Obama is doing… shackling industry with so much regulation that a business can do nothing without permission from the Government… how is that, in effect, different from state control over industry and commerce? It is not.

    Comment by V the K — April 24, 2012 @ 10:31 am - April 24, 2012

  27. V the K, you are correct.

Many leftists adore Chavez, Ortega, Castro, etc. as leaders who get most things right and their minor flaws can be overlooked. After all, what is wrong with aborting your opposition so long as your name is not Pinochet?

But your point about 100% state ownership and control as the threshold for proclaiming socialism is the matter of the fact in claiming that there is no socialism intent. So long as one person can hold a yard sale, there is no socialism.

You call it a dodge and I might call it a special rule. Something akin to Godwin’s “Law.” The first person to call Obama a socialist is a reactionary Neanderthal who wants a return to slavery, child labor, starving the elderly, polluting the air and water and selling tainted food and medicines.

“See! You said he is a socialist! Now we know exactly who you are and what you think!” (Not unlike: “Any reference to the Third Reich and you are implying the Holocaust.” “I wanted folks who glibly compared someone else to Hitler or to Nazis to think a bit harder about the Holocaust,” Godwin has written. But a glib comparison is no different than a glib accusation of innuendo and, thus, Godwin recklessly opens himself to contradiction.)

Special rules create censorship by shutting out any antecedents. This is some sort of “fallacy by technical review” in which the technical review itself can not be ruled fallacious. I turn to another for a succinct explanation:

All great historical and philosophical arguments have probably been fallacious in some respect… If the argument is a single chain, and one link fails, the chain itself fails with it. But most historians’ arguments are not single chains. They are rather like a kind of chain mail which can fail in some part and still retain its shape and function.
    —David Hackett Fischer

So, to “win” against Fischer, it is necessary to create a special rule and declare the reference to be a single chain. Translation of the special rule: “It is what I say it is.”

  28. After all, what is wrong with aborting your opposition so long as your name is not Pinochet?

Pinochet left power voluntarily, and left his country with more freedom and prosperity than he found it.

Compare that to socialist dictators-for-life like Castro, Mugabe, and Chavez.

I just had a discussion on my blog where someone was essentially arguing this.

I’ve noticed that most conservatives wear the label “conservative” with pride, while many leftists try to appear more moderate than they are. I wonder why that is? (note: rhetorical question).

The free market did not give rise to the Middle Class — there was plenty of free market in the time of Charles Dickens, but not much of the middle class — that was built with the sweat, blood, toil and tears of the union movement.
