Still believe the president’s shift on same-sex marriage is sincere?

Hugh Hewitt’s observation this morning about possible “trouble in Obamaville” provides another data point suggesting otherwise.  “The president’s cash haul in April”, he observes “was down from that in March, and The Hill’s report has this note of anxiety within it:

The Obama campaign is making a concerted effort to boost the number of small donations, as its affiliated super-PACs have not been able to compete with the big donations from wealthy individuals contributing to super-PAC’s affiliated with presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney.

As I wrote last June, “Face it, gay Democrats, he’s just after you for your money

  1. Hmm… Looks like Tammy Bruce is right: It’s all gay 4 pay. BTW. Anyone seen Sohale Sidiqqi, lately?

  2. Something being politically motivated doesn’t mean it isn’t sincere. He truly believes in gay marriage, he has for years. He believed that being openly in favor of it before was bad for him politically so he didn’t come out in favor of it. Then he wasn’t being sincere, now that he’s openly acknowledging how he’s felt, he’s being sincere.

Still not sure why you’re attacking Obama so much for this. Politicians lie all the time, it’s not breaking news. He lied before and now he’s being honest about his position. Believe it or not, even though he can’t change the law, he will change minds. There are tons of democrats that don’t support gay marriage that now may be more in favor of it because of his openness.

This is a good thing, stop trying to make it into a negative somehow when you still have republicans blocking civil unions in Colorado and not affirming judges for nomination simply because they’re gay in Virginia. Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, under this president, more has been done for gays than under any other president in history.

  3. The question wasn’t if Senator-then-Pres. Obama was “for” SSM when he said he was against-it, it whether Obama would “do” anything politically in favor of it….and so-far the answer is still “not-really”.

He cynically shook the Gay Money Tree after the North Carolina debacle when his campaign was told point-blank that the Gay ATM would be unplugged if he didn’t do “something substantive”. And at what cost…after the NC election…a few Black Church leaders who will NEVER tell their congregants to vote GOP instead?

  4. under this president, more has been done for gays than under any other president in history

They have more debt, less income, less economic opportunity, and less employment opportunities than they did before Obama was elected … but they have a president who says he thinks they should be able to get a piece of paper signed by a bureaucrat to legitimize their relationships.

To a certain kind of idiot, that’s a win.

  5. It’s sort of like Obama, right after ending Don’t Ask Don’t Tell moved to layoff thousands of soldiers and civilian defense employees, and force soldiers to pay dramatically higher rates for health insurance while cutting other military benefits.

And the Gay Left is so frakking stupid they don’t care that they’re being screwed over fiscally and economically by this president as long as they get a little bit of rhetorical love.
