It seems that my quest for some distance from blogging has finally caught up to me. I thought I would take the weekend off, then resume blogging at full steam yesterday, but I had other things on my mind; and it was nice not to have to think about politics as much as I normally do.
Does seem so people are so obsessed by it — that if they can’t talk about politics, they have nothing to say. ย (Saw someone just like that last night–even at a panel related to the entertainment industry, he kept turning it back to politics, blaming Bush for Obama’s spending binge.)
There are a number of issues I do wish to address, have yet to weigh in as I would like on the Romney campaign’s awkward handling of the Grenell matter, given that I’ve had time to reflect on it since the story broke. And there’s still much to consider related to the president’s recent fundraising plea directed to the gay community.
(I had actually thought this would be a longer post and I do hope to start blogging regularly again tomorrow, but just needed to take a break. I feel a bit like I used to feel after I ran road races, particularly half-marathons, felt a kind of exhilaration for my effort, had enjoyed the experience, but needed a few days before I could get back up my pre-race pace.)
So… did you see the Avengers? ๐
Oh, come on, admit it — you’ve been too busy destroying heterosexual marriage to blog these days!
The_Livewire, it’s on my list. Do want to see it. Hope I get the chance before long.
It’s quite well done. Hulk actually has the best bit in the whole movie!
I liked the alien ships slithering through NYC the best.
I would be glad to talk about finance and economics ๐
@sonicfrog.
Second best part. The best part goes to the unnamed pilot.
“Target is angry! Target is VERY ANGRY!”
Lots of stories happening that could be worthy of comment.
Here’s one: a double-minority foreigner – a Jewish, Third World person of color – does good deeds for Americans, making giant contributions alike to the American economy, America’s tax base, and people’s personal lives. But hateful, jealous RIGHT-WINGERS vilify him simply because this international man, this “citizen of the world”, refuses U.S. citizenship for his own, personal reasons. Oh, wait – I meant left-wingers… I am talking about Eduardo Saverin, of course.
I clearly don’t have the whole story regarding Eduardo Saverin, because I can’t figure out what the problem is. I mean, he’s a private citizen, right? Doesn’t he have the right to move to Singapore if he wants to (as long as Singapore allows him in)?
Yup. He’s paid plenty in U.S. taxes already, and broken no U.S. laws. Until and unless he breaks the law somewhere, ’tain’t nobody’s business what he does.
The problem is Big Government supporters, thinking that they own him – and by extension, that they own everyone. Plain fascism, likely with the usual motives: general lust for government power, jealousy, and perhaps some unspoken anti-Semitism.
ILC:
Isn’t the problem that the Feds want to force him to pay ‘tribute’ to
them before they allow him to depart?
