It’s unexpected since they probably thought multiple voters/fraudulent voters would be good for at least five points or so.
Really though, I’m kind of okay with the HP spinning the result as close. But CNN, which at least has the pretense of objectivity, used the word “narrowly” to describe Walker’s victory.
It should be pointed out that Walker’s margin of victory was almost exactly Obama’s national margin of victory in 2008. I don’t remember any news outlet calling Obama’s victory narrow.
