With just three days until the Dark Knight Rises, we at GayPatriot have been wondering whether Anne Hathaway can hold a candle to the cattiest of Catwomen, Eartha Kitt:
Perhaps we should poll our readers to see who was the cattiest. . . . Was it Miss Kitt, or perhaps Halle Berry or maybe Lee Meriwether, not to mention Julie Newmar or who could forget Michelle Pfeiffer?
Seems my gay friends are torn between Eartha and Julie while my straight male friends gravitate toward Michelle.
Since the Democrat has long been running (disingenuous if not dishonest) attack ads, you’d think Yahoo! would have run such a headline in past weeks. If so, did anyone get a screen capture of that?
Also, can anyone recall an incumbent president so personalizing the opposition? Eight years ago, at this time, was George W. Bush attacking the then-presumptive Democratic nominee’s background (as opposed to his policies)?
The online left rallied this month around a 12-year-old Illinois girl, Abby Goldberg, who launched a petition that her state outlaw plastic bags. As of writing, the petition at Change.org had notched 158,750 signers.
The petition became an internet phenomenon primarily for the organizer’s youth. But a recent interview with the young girl revealed she was largely uninvolved in the process, instead an environmental activist wrote and floated it while she was out of the country.
Reporter: And from there you just kind of took this on and it took on a life of its own. There are other petitions out there with sort of the same focus or the same issue. But yet yours has received 150,000 signatures. What’s set you apart from some of the other ones?
Goldberg: Well a friend at my school got me in contact with another activist named Ben Zolno. He was the creator of Plastic Bag State of Mind. His idea was to start this petition, and I was in Israel for two weeks so the whole thing got started while I was on vacation.
Reporter: Ok and it’s my understanding that you get pretty fired up about this whole thing. And in fact in your petition you use some pretty tough words for folks out there. Tell me about that.
Goldberg: Well, not all of them were exactly my words. I mean, I wrote them, but Ben edited them and he changed it and I agreed to it, too.
Zolno, a Huffington Post environmental blogger, has previously written that plastic bags–100 percent recyclable, and the product of an industry that employs north of 30,000 nationwide–would “damn … children and their planet for eternity.”
How very Soviet-like…. (via Politico)
National Democrats have repeatedly touted their stand against taking corporate money for their convention in September, and so it was striking to see two emails from the DNC host committee referring to the Charlotte venue where President Obama will speak as “Panthers Stadium.”
It’s the place where the Panthers play, but it’s actually called Bank of America stadium.
A recent email from the host committee signed by former Al Gore campaign manager Donna Brazile urged people to win a trip to Charlotte for the event, which will wrap “Thursday night at Panthers Stadium with President Obama.”
Another email in June made the same pitch about the stadium.
A host committee spokeswoman didn’t respond to an email. But it’s not like the stadium was ever called Panthers Stadium – first opened in 1996, it was Carolinas Stadium, and later Ericsson Stadium. Then the current corporate iteration.
As a Charlotte area resident, I can tell you that there are two Panther statues out front…. and about 500 Bank of America logos all over the rest of the Stadium. They will have to do a big whitewashing job to get rid of BofA signage.
Oooops! Whitewash…. sorry, that’s racist.
