Seems the conservative media is doing what the gay media won’t: call out gay organizations for their hypocrisy. Breitbart reports:
When CNN’s Roland Martin sent out a series of Tweets about an underwear commercial starring soccer standout David Beckham GLAAD snapped into action.
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation claimed Martin’s Tweets were tantamount to gay bashing, and Martin had to undergo the standard public deprogramming effort to escape from future punishment.
Just ask film director Brett Ratner how that feels.
But when BuzzFeed’s Michael Hastings fired off a Tweet that questioned the masculinity of Richard Grenell, an openly gay political consultant who recently worked for Mitt Romney, the gay rights group went silent.
Breitbart News reached out to GLAAD’s PR arm twice over the last seven days for comment.
The group chose not to respond.
Maybe they should change the name of their outfit from GLAAD to GLAAD-EDACRGL (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation — Except for Defamation Against Conservative and Republican Gays and Lesbians).
By the way, it’s now been more than a month since Dan Savage uttered his “hateful remarks” in a public forum and still HRC hasn’t spoken up.
Oh and while HRC has ignored Savage for a month, they were very quick to condemn the Palin family once again after Bristol’s son used the word “faggot.”

Not condoning what her son says (and honestly for a 4 year old to use the word he is certainly hearing it somewhere), but it is more the hypocrisy.
I invite Bruce, Dan, Colorado Patriot, and any of the commenters at GP to use my words or write their own email to: graddick@glaad.org. (Obviously remove the part that you’re a left-wing liberal gay if the shoe doesn’t fit.)
damn it. I effed up. “the” not “your” f*ck!
Cinesnatch, have been communicating with Bruce about the nature of our response; we will be contacting GLAAD and making public the content of our communication. Stay tuned.
Thanks for sharing yours!
Submitted through website (ht to Just Me for Palin link) via my personal information [redacted]:
(nominally amended from the GLAAD version)
To Whom This May Concern (HRC):
It is unfortunate that your organization hasn’t taken Dan Savage or Michael Hastings to task for their recent vocalized and misappropriate use of gender/sexuality-baiting slurs, as you have made very public examples out of Kobe Bryant, Tracey Morgan, and the Palin family. It’s unfortunate that you allow politics to play into your decision-making when the target of the attacks is of a conservative persuasion (such as GOProud and Richard Grenell). While Grennell is no shining example of behavior and invited his exchange with Hastings (Savage has no excuse), your zero-tolerance policy would send a clear message to the youth (and adults) of our world that any kind of demeaning of another gay in the spotlight–regardless of their political beliefs–is unacceptable. As someone who considers himself a left-wing liberal gay, I find your (in)actions inconsistent, disappointing, and out of touch with the rest of the world. Additionally, your silence is dangerous, divisive, and alienating. I am tired of arguing with my conservative friends from a foundation that you systematically undermine. I hope you will consider these words thoughtfully.

I misspelled Tracy.
Dear G-d…my respect for Cinesnatch grows daily FINALLY–a PRINCIPLED person on the left I can actually have a discussion with.
Perhaps all those beatdowns delivered by NDT have had an effect.
Nice comment V, nice.
Perhaps not so much the beatdowns themselves, but NDT’s almost unbroken track record of behaving like “Goofus” from Highlights for Children: the model to avoid imitating.
No worries, Throbert. I take criticism from you and yours in the same spirit that Condi Rice takes it from Al Sharpton: less a commentary on my behavior than on my views not being “correct” as dictated by my minority status.
Spot on Throbert
Goofus & Gallant
First appearing in Highlights in 1948, Goofus & Gallant is a cartoon feature created by Garry Cleveland Myers and drawn by Anni Matsick. The strip features two contrasting boys, Goofus and Gallant. In each cartoon, it is shown how each boy would respond to the same situation. Goofus chooses an irresponsible path, while Gallant is kinder. Often the panels would provide description, such as on a school bus: Goofus hogs his seat – Gallant makes space for someone else to sit down. Sometimes the situations would show the boys talking, such as phone courtesy when parents are away: Goofus: “Someone called but I forgot their name.” Gallant: “Someone called for you. I wrote down their name and number”. Goofus and Gallant’s primary function is to teach children basic social skills.
And of course, rusty, I take that in the grain of noting that no lectures or comments about civility or irresponsibility were forthcoming when I and others were being told to kill ourselves to please our parents.
In short, your playing the civility card has as much value and credibility as Al Sharpton playing the race card.
Smooches Dan

Smooch away, rusty. You’re still a hypocrite.
Ah, NDT, it is quite clear that you like showering your attention on me.
So darn sweet of you
Tis a shame when folk could link your sweetness to this:
One of the very worst aspects of contemporary political culture is the willingness to excuse horrible behavior so long as it comes from someone “on our side.” And to excuse this as “rational” is the sign of complete moral and ethical vacancy.
But so many like to excuse you and your behavior. Guess they also see your sweetness.
Smooches Dan,
Ciao,
rusty

Pretty funny
Thanks for sharing, rusty. Poor is the soul who can’t rise above partisanship to call things as they see them.
“I’m adaptable.” Selina Kyle, The Dark Knight Rises.
She certainly was and looked where she ended up.
LOL.
So your argument is based on demanding that others condemn my behavior when all you do is spin and whine and refuse to condemn the behavior of others.
You’re a hypocrite, rusty. Completely and totally dependent on taking advantage of the manners and civility of others because you lack both.
Thanks for sharing, rusty. Poor is the soul who can’t rise above partisanship to call things as they see them.

Or so says the partisan bigot who claps and cheers as his “voice of reason” says that all conservatives are irrational.
It’s fun watching you attempt to lie your way back into respectability, Cinesnatch. It makes the denouement even more entertaining when you revert to your conservative-hating, anti-Christian type.
If I ever did, I doubt anyone will listen to the boy who cried wolf.
Oh, NDT, if you continue to shower me with all your attention
Folk are going to start talkng.
Now run along now. Ya big tease!
BF: It’s a cycle that I’ve been through with him a few times, before learning to see through him. Ten minutes of seeming “reform” as the setup for the next spree of juvenile bomb-throwing, whining, narcissim and tactics of deception. You are welcome to engage whomever you want though, and to have your own experiences. May yours be better than mine! As I said in another thread, in forming judgments, each person should put the greatest weight on their personal experiences (first-hand). 🙂
Gods, I’d completely forgot about Goofus and Gallant. Thanks for the memory.
BF: Thanks for the props. I’m sure you’re mature enough to cultivate your own opinions, but, like ILC points out, it does help to have input from others, I guess.
Hey, ILoveConsistency, how come you singled out BF’s comment and not VTK’s? Just an observation.
Whoops, you’re mistaking me again for someone who cares about your agenda, Cinesnatch.
Once again, our leftists demonstrate a total inability to appreciate humor and irony. Perhaps my comment should have been accompanied by a gif of Jon Stewart making Goo-Goo faces at the camera. That seems to be what passes for rapier wit on the left these days.
Me thinks you doth protest too much ILC.
