If Romney’s high school grades merit media coverage,
why this indifference to Obama’s college transcripts?

August 7, 2012 by B. Daniel Blatt

Ed Driscoll is the latest conservative pundit (via Instapundit) to link Wayne Allyn Root’s piece in the Blaze saying that in response to the all the (Democrat-generated) hullabaloo about Mitt Romney’s taxes, the presumptive Republican nominee should

. . .  call a press conference and issue a challenge in front of the nation. He should agree to release more of his tax returns, only if Obama unseals his college records. Simple and straight-forward. Mitt should ask ‘What could possibly be so embarrassing in your college records from 29 years ago, that you are afraid to let America’s voters see it? If it’s THAT bad, maybe it’s something the voters ought to see.’ Suddenly the tables are turned. Now Obama is on the defensive:”

Now, you might think that a candidate’s college record is irrelevant to ability to govern the country, but the folks at the Boston Globe did find it necessary to publish Mr. Romney’s the transcript of Mr. Romney’s freshman year in high school.

And now they seem strangely incurious about Mr. Obama’s college records.  You’d think that when a left-of-center pundit finds “38 instances in which [the president’s] biographer [David Maraniss] convincingly disputes significant elements of Obama’s own story of his life and his family history”, journalists might wonder if there is anything hidden in his college transcripts, particularly given the unwillingness of the Democrat to release them.

With this focus on Romney’s taxes, we see once again a media focus on an issue pushed by the Obama campaign and other Democratic partisans.

The same journalists, however, eager to run with a story generated by the Democrats and/or liberal bloggers seem remarkably indifferent to stories talked about on conservative blogs.  They just want to keep Mitt Romney on defense and keep Obama from being on defense.

Perhaps, Mr. Romney should do as Mr. Root suggests.  He could then use the prominence the media has given to his own tax returns to force the media to consider Mr. Obama’s transcripts — a topic to which they have long been indifferent, if not oblivious.

You know the answer to this as well as I do.

The Democrats operate under different rules. Burden of proof? That’s for OTHER people, not them.

Look at all the things the Composite President has sealed; his school transcripts, his thesis, his passport, his Senate Schedule, and the list goes on.

This swipe at Romney is classic Obama — get something unsealed (or shame your opponent into surrendering it willingly, a la Ryan) and use it as a bludgeon.

Remember how 2007-2008 Candidate Obama said that things like this were wrong? How you only attacked your opponent when you had nothing positive to offer on yourself? Funny how things change.

A complicit media doesn’t help any, either. SOMEONE ferreted out Romney’s grades (and that bullying incident) — simply amazing how none of them can be bothered to look into the Messiah’s past. Maybe (almost certainly) they are afraid of what they will find, or how the public will take said findings.

Reid, Wasserman Schultz, and Pelosi should ALL put up or shut up, but they’ll continue to skate on their hypocritical, self-serving comments.

Hope they remember the old saying: what comes around, goes around.

    Thanks for posting!

    Oh Look! A new conspiracy!!!!!

Root is a nut case…. A very successful nut case! Kind of a Trump-lite. But I’ve been wondering when someone would prod Romney to go in the direction he suggests. It’s crazy, but politically, Roots advise is EXACTLY spot on if Romney wants to fight fire with fire…. Unless of course Romney also has something to hide too! 🙂

I loves me a good conspiracy theory! Not because I believe in any of them. I just like to see how far out there someone is willing to go!

    No need.

Since Barack Obama just put out an ad accusing Mitt Romney of murder, Romney can turn around and point out that Barack Obama’s Fast and Furious program led directly to the deaths of hundreds of Mexican citizens and to the deaths of US citizens.

And that this happened because Barack Obama ordered US gun sellers, under their own protest, to break the law and sell hundreds of guns to criminals.

And that Obama has sealed and refuses to release any information related to this despite a direct subpoena from Congress.

    BOOM.

I would constitute a fundraise (putting also my $$$) to pay for a ‘hacking’ squad to unseal those sealed records. There must be so much filth enough to invalidate anything signed by zerobama as a president. Think about the ramifications of the passport issue for example, either he enrolled lying about his nationality or he committed a fraud using an indonesian passport to travel to pakistan.

However the most pleasant thing would be to see the face of his worshippers the day after when faced with the fact that they have been supporting a con man way over his head, way further his Peter principle.

There will still be a percentage of them screaming racist 24/7 or other stupid saying ‘at least he support gay marriage’ but the aftershock would be hilarious.

Not to mentions the DECADES where this story can efficiently be thrown in their face everytime they will say that the Democratic candidate is more intelligent.

I can understand the Romney family’s reluctance to data-dump Mitt’s tax-returns. I would fully-expect that his highly-compensated tax accountants and tax lawyers too every legal opportunity to AVOID paying more than he’s required to….as is his right.

The reluctance I suspect comes from in releasing the returns it opens not only Mitt’s finances but those of the entire extended family in overlapping and inter-generational trusts, annuities and investments.

I think this is a bad idea all around. Mitt Romney doesn’t want to release his tax returns period. It has nothing to do with Obama’s reason to withhold his college transcripts.

On principle, nothing should pursuade Mitt Romney to change his mind; however, Obama might see a political calculation to release his college transcripts to resolve the issue of Mitt’s tax returns. Thus, a bluff will be called and you will find nothing on Obama and everything on Romney, which is how the Mainstream Media will operate.

The bluff will be called. Just like the media never read Obama’s books, they won’t read his transcripts either. You see, the issue of academic preference in college admissions will not be explored since it is RACIST. Obama will not be penalized, but Romney will be hurt.

This is a bad idea all around. Don’t be so naive.

Perhaps the call for everyone to release their tax returns is the better argument. Pelosi, Reid? Your turn.

Are you kidding???? They LOVED his books! Read them several times to get the “nuances” of this deep highly intellectual man! They just didn’t bother to fact check them.

    Correction:

“Read them several times to get the “nuances” of this deep, highly intellectual, multicultural, brilliant, and incredibly wise sage that was running for President!!” He was the liberals wet dream, and they certainly didn’t want to do anything to wake from that dream.

Also, in Root’s defense, the direct approach has actually worked. Trump finally got the birth certificate released, didn’t he?

What Mitt should do about his tax returns is exactly what Obama did with his medical records and birth certificate. Mitt should get his accountant to release a summary statement of the taxes he paid and then declare that he has released his records and anyone still harping on them is a nutty conspiracy theorist.

Obama has “sealed” his paper trail. He has left no “DNA” from his formative years and substituted it with two controlled narratives by way of “autobiographies” that have high probability of being written by someone else. (Not just ghost written, but structured and nuanced and laced with important invention by a skilled and professional propagandist.)

I have zero information and zero credibility for calling Root a “nut” or holding him in high esteem. Nonetheless, he has unleashed a pretty good list of questions about Obama’s reasons to spend so much on lawyers to get his record locked down and, perhaps, scrubbed.

To my knowledge, Obama did not have the personal money to pay for so much fancy lawyering in his own behalf.

Also, what is meant by “conspiracy theory” other than to sneer and scoff? Every piece of detective work is based on a theory and part of the work is to learn what is false in order to learn what it true.

It is the natural order of things to be skeptical as to why Obama is so secretive of his past and has gone and continues to go to such lengths to keep the records of the past locked up and sealed.

If one is distrustful of Obama’s truth concerning his birth certificate, social security number(s), residency status in applying for college, lost writings, etc. ……. does that mean the skeptic who is distrustful is a “conspiracy nut”?

On top of this comes the information that the MSM has acquired Romney’s high school records and attempted to make them big news. Isn’t it passing strange that the MSM has zero curiosity about Obama? When it is said to be competent and necessary journalism to go through Dumpsters to seek out tidbits on Palin, why is the media so totally bored with Obama’s formative years?

Color me a “conspiracy theory” nut case who has taken the bait from Root. I have watched the Liar-in-Chief flip-flop and just bald-faced lie and marveled that the MSM simply does not care and will not permit it to register.

Here is Bay Buchanan in the National Examiner about the Romney-murdered the cancer victim ad:

BAY BUCHANAN: This is typical. We have the most powerful man in the world–the president of the United States–takes no responsibility for his campaign, no responsibility for his PACs, no responsibility for his cabinet members who are out there raising money–for this PAC so this ad can run–takes no responsibility for pain and suffering this country is suffering. The people in this country are suffering with high unemployment, loss of homes, falling into poverty. The only thing he takes responsibility for is the businesses other people are building. This is a disgraceful, despicable, dishonest ad, and if the president of the United States does not want shame on himself, he should immediately reject it outright.

The “conspiracy theories” that Romney killed people, didn’t file taxes, committed felonies, etc. get automatic legs with MSN based on the “serious of the innuendo or charge” alone. No evidence need be applied.

Sure you can attempt to apply equivalency to Romney’s keeping past tax returns private and Obama sealing off his entire paper past. But which one creates the greater stink of cover-up?

The IRS is very good at muscling every drop of financial detail out of Romney’s “private” financial history. Does anyone think they have let him skate for 10 years? Or, are we to believe that somehow Bush covered up for him?

    Exactly.

Romney was a potential Presidential candidate in 2008 and the expected one thereafter.

Obama and the Obama Party have already demonstrated that they will mine confidential government records for dirt regardless of the law.

To think that the Obama-controlled IRS would not take every opportunity to make an example out of one of the prime threats to Obama’s dictatorship and discrediting the entire Republican Party in the process, especially if it were as simple as proving that he has paid no taxes for the past ten years, three of which have been under the absolute rule of Emperor Baracka I, takes us well out of the range of imagination and squarely into the center of insanity.

We have not even come close to seeing the bottom of what the Obama Party will do. Pelosi just stated Republicans want to murder children. Obama is screaming that Romney murdered a man’s wife. Reid is screaming that Romney is a criminal. The entire Obama Party, including its puppets in the LGBT leadership, are yelling that eating chicken sandwiches makes you a murderer of gay people.

They are like a red-faced toddler screaming and stamping its feet, trying to get its parents to yield.

And I see more and more positive signs that the parents are content to let the toddler scream itself out and send it to bed without supper or toys.

If Romney wins and the GOP takes control of both houses of Congress, I expect a civil war of epic proportions within the Obama Party as the Pelosi/Obama/Reid wing conducts blood purges.
