The do-nothing Democratic Senate’s dubious record

August 15, 2012 by B. Daniel Blatt

Take a gander at how Yahoo! spins the report on this being “the least productive legislative year in the post World War II era“:

Unlike the 80th Congress which Harry Truman dubbed a “do-thing” legislature, the current Congress is divided, with Republicans controlling only the House, hence the Yahoo!’s editors choice to blame the absence of productivity on that chamber.  (As if legislative productivity were necessarily a good thing.)

The real story of the 112th Congress is, however, not the Republican House’s dubious record, but the Democratic Senate’s inaction.

As “Doug Heye, a spokesman for House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va.,” observed, “citing over 30 economic measures the House has passed that have fizzled in the Democratic-run Senate ‘at the behest of a president who is presiding over the worst economic recovery in history.'”  Interesting that the article’s only reference to the Democratic Senate is in a quote from a Republican.

Do wonder if Yahoo! ever led with reports of the Democratic Senate’s dubious record, failure to pass a budget in over 1,200 days.  Or their failure to take up the jobs bills passed by the Republican House.

Finally a medium that addresses the real problem. I’m so tired of hearing about the inaction in congress. Harry Reid and his Senate should be fired for sitting on our lives.

MY thoughts exactly when I saw yahoo today. You should check it out now where they are essential laughing off Romney’s claim that Obama is running his campaign in the gutter and finish the article talking about Romney putting a dog on the roof of his car. Times like this make me glad fewer and fewer people are exposed to Yahoo’s news service as they all switch their homepages to google.

Does Pres. Obama REALLY THINK that American voters really care that Gov. Romney lashed the dog’s car-carrier to the family station wagon’s roof over-30 year ago?

How many jobs bills have the Republicans put forth in the House since they gained control?

Read the post, Kevin; the answer is there.

yeah, just because you declare that every bill you pass is a “jobs” don’t necessarily make it so. Of course they have a lot of time on their hands it seems. They’ve voted, what, 33 times to repeal the health care law (which has no chance of passing). Also, “reaffirming” In God We Trust (something that doesn’t need reaffirming) was a nice touch too. They can appeal to the people who are duped into voting them while working on legislation and deals that works against the people who voted for them.
