Obama’s “move on” comment as metaphor:
he only briefly focused on economy

October 4, 2012 by B. Daniel Blatt

“Barack Obama,” Erick Erickson writes in his post on last night’s debate

at one point, interrupted Jim Lehrer and asked Lehrer to move on to a new topic. It was a brilliant metaphor for what Barack Obama did coming into office. He looked at the economy and decided to move on to Obamacare. His whole career has been one of passing the buck, shifting blame, and failing to take responsibility for tough challenges. He did the same last night.

The president, as the clip at this link reminds us, was asking to move on from “discussing taxes and the economy“.

BTW, one of the lefty complaints/memes is: Why did Obama pull his punches? In other words, why didn’t He bring up “the 47%”? Or Bain Capital? Or Romney’s taxes? etc.

Was listening to Rush a few minutes, and Rush had the answer: Because Obama would have been crushed, if He had brought up any of those things.

None of them are the problem that lefties think they are. Only lefties, living within the lefty bubble, think there is ‘some there, there’. Had Obama brought them up, Obama would have only been opening the door for Romney to respond effectively, by 1) bringing up the facts, then 2) saying what Romney wants to say.

Worse, Romney could have followed up with 3) a spotlight on some of Obama’s doozies like Obama’s new race-mongering video excerpts, the “bitter clingers” remark, “private sector is doing fine”, “you didn’t build that”, Solyndra, the murder (and some say, rape) of an American ambassador by terrorists while Obama tried to mislead people on what happened, and worse. (Fast and Furious?)

This is the first time I’ve EVER heard a presidential incumbent or challenger ask the moderator to “move on” to a new topic.

He finally figured out that the jig’s up and his reign as POTUS is over.

PS – Did anyone else see the pic on Drudge today taken after the debate, with Moochelle and Choombama walking off the stage? It easily could be captioned as “no nookie for you tonight, Barry.”

    PRICELESS.

    Regards,
    Peter H.

    Example from Newsbusters, via Ace:

President Obama left his “greatest hits on the cutting room floor” for Wednesday night’s debate, claimed CBS This Morning co-host Norah O’Donnell after the debate. According to her, “contraceptive rights” and “free mammograms” in ObamaCare are some of the President’s “greatest hits.”

“There was no mention of Bain,” she said on Wednesday night’s Charlie Rose. “There was no mention of the auto industry saved. There was no mention of the wars ended, and in the discussion about ObamaCare, he didn’t mention that that would turn back many provisions that protect women’s health, free mammograms, contraceptive rights.”

As Ace points out (and, in line with Rush’s thinking above): Obama didn’t bring those things up because THEY ARE ALL FREAKING STRAWMEN. He can’t bring them up, at least not successfully, if Romney is standing there – ready, willing and able to defend himself.

“The wars ended” would be a particularly bad example. Has Afghanistan ended, anybody? And in Iraq, all Obama ever did was follow Bush’s timetable for withdrawal.
