Now, this just has to be George W. Bush’s fault

October 6, 2012 by B. Daniel Blatt

Heading out of town this morning, I stopped to fill up my tank. Should have done it yesterday.

RELATED: Ace, via Instapundit, cites the gas station at Fairfax and Olympic which I pictured here. Gas at $4.99 back in March.

Refineries in CA have been offline, one due to a fire and another due to a power failure. They are required by the state to produce a special blend of cleaner-burning fuel between April and October and there are no refineries in the rest of the country that are capable of producing this special blend. So, when CA refineries are down supplies are severely strained and we get a price spike. That’s the story I read on Foxnews.com. So…anyone have any comments on this special fuel blend and what thats all about? I’m not really familiar with that story.

Eddie, as far as I understand, you pretty much summed it up. 🙂

But Dan – if the price spike is because of CA ‘environmental’ policies, well, sound like there is a post in that.

We’re more than $1 less per gallon here on the Great Plains. I think I saw $3.61 yesterday when I was doing errands.

It’s not just California and it’s ” special blend ” of low-emission gasoline, prices here in New Jersey are starting to spike over FOUR-DOLLARS!! They were in the $1.85/gal-range when The Won was installed in the White House.

    ” Grrrrr……… “

I’d like to know why people put it on the president to be responsible for gas prices. I know that neither George Bush nor Barack Obama are responsible for this. Also, let’s not forget the really high gas prices in the summer before the ’08 elections. Bet gas prices would be a lot better if the oil futures markets were done away with completely.

    Kevin,

    Here’s why:

This guy, Obama, the president, is the man who blocked oil drilling on public land, who gave billions to Brazil to do the drilling that he blocked here, and who blocked the Keystone Pipeline…he has A LOT to do with gas prices.

    #8…
watch this video to see how the leaders of the Democratic party stated emphatically that gas pries are in fact controlled by the POTUS. Now, if the so-called dumbest POTUS can control gas prices but the so-called most brilliant POTUS can’t control gas prices, what does that tell you?
“Bet gas prices would be a lot better if the oil futures markets were done away with completely.”

Wrong.. speculation adds to the volatility of commodity pricing but does not add to the long term price of a commodity.

Here is a good read :
