I post, you decide.

The background song is hilarious.
So Bruce, I’m not sure what there is to decide. I mean, one either agrees with the bailout or one doesn’t. That’s fair. If someone doesn’t agree with it, this “ad” is pretty damn funny. If a person does agree with the bailout, well, I guess this ad is probably infuriating.
FWIW, I’ve been a GM critic for a long time, despite owning several GM cars (have one now in fact), all of which I’ve been really happy with. I’m not really sure how I feel about the bailout. But the video made me chuckle.

I told the creator of the video that he is gonna have some angry Chevy Truck owners after him.
Seriously, I think there are two things to look at with regard to the GM bailout.
1 – Romney suggested that GM go through managed Chapter 11 bankruptcy (like every other non-Fed Govt preferred company has to). That would have been fine.
2 – Ford survived with NO government money.
I’m now a Ford guy until I die.

Actually it was more of a UAW bailout than GM. That is where the lion share of the funds end up if it was to cover pensions.
BTW I live in Janesville where the GM plant closed. I have driven Dodge trucks for years.

Well, Ford survived without government money because Ford is a better managed company that doesn’t make the same mistakes over and over and over and over again. That’s MHO of course. 🙂

Toyota’s doing alright and they don’t have unions to boot. Plus, they assemble the Corolla in my home state of Mississippi (2,000 employees).

Neptune, it may be your opinion but it is pretty silly. The reason Ford didn’t get a bailout was because it was more incompetent than GM and collapsed before the 2008 economic crisis. Ford shut down large chunks of it’s US production, sold off parts acquisitions like Jaguar, did a complete reorganization and took out a $23+Billion private loan in because the Fed wasn’t giving free money away with every toaster opened in 2006. If Ford had been better managed they would have been able to hold together until 2008 & get a bailout from Uncle Sugar. Now is a different story, but at the time Ford was managed worse than GM or Chrysler.

Silly was used wrong, and sorry if I offended. I did not mean to imply you are a silly person or have silly opinions. I did mean to imply that there is amusing humor in comparing the Ford management’s errors with the idea that superior Ford management was responsible for Ford not taking a bailout.

Point taken, max, and certainly no offense taken. 🙂
