Seems we were right, this was all just a fundraising gimmick.

  1. By their own definition, the Gay Left must call Obama a bigot now. He and Romney have the exact same position on marriage.

  3. I believe Obama did this because MTV’s audience is largely black – and they don’t like gays one bit.

  4. Sarah Hoyt just linked to this ‘evolution’ and stated ““Let me be clear” at this point any voter who believes anything this man promises is either an idiot or trying to be victimized.”

He already was for gay marriage before he was against it, now that he is for it again, and he has their money and votes … go pound sand.
These are lies to his supporters mind.

Carter sleeps well knowing he is no longer the most loathsome S.O.B we’ve suffered as president.

  5. But he is oh so nuanced that mere mortals like Romney can’t hope to compete. He oh so moving that people liken him to having sex (in a public place) I am assuming. We just don’t understand the Obama. He is completely out there.

Now I freely I am not the most intelligent dude in the planet. I never thought Obama was a light bringer. He was at best a token replacement for people that felt a black man could be President. If I could pick up on that, how come lots of really smart people can’t. Is there an intelligence test that needs to be taken before entering the voting booth?

  6. 6 months ago it was all about raising money from the gays.

Now 6 months later the gays get shoved under the bus in order to fire up the African American vote who aren’t so keen on Obama’s evolution.

I predict the gay left does and says nothing.

Now wouldn’t that be fun to watch unfold.

  11. This man is THE single greatest identity politician of all time. Black unemployment is nearly twice the national average, yet they’ll go out en mass to vote for him. He gets $9M in three hours for his “historic announcement”, declares gay marriage an(other) issue for the future people to deal with, and the activist crowd will still go out en mass for him, too. It takes one hell of a hustler to get gays and Black folks to worship the same god, all the while playing them both.

  17. Seems like every special interest group gets taken advantage of willingly. Hey I am a Libertarian / Conservative and what I can tell my brothers and sisters in the gay community is LIVE the way you want to, but harness the radicals they really hurt the cause that most Americans will easily adapt to.

  19. The truly chilling thing is that absolutely everything this charlatan says is considered, by the MTV crowd, to be “cool.”

They will let not only incompetence and corruption, but absolute evil, into the system. And they will bow to its “leadership.” As long as it is cool.

It can screw the gays, as long as it plays a mean saxophone on late-night TV. It can treat women like nothing more than walking, talking “lady-parts,” as long as it trades jokes with Letterman and Leno. It can totally destroy the U.S. economy, if only it invites rap “artists” to the White House. And it can pander to bigots, or turn a blind eye to militant nuts rampaging in the Middle East, if it shoots hoops with NBA stars.

We have become a nation of eternal teenagers, dazzled by empty flash and meaningless rhetoric. But, hey — we’re cool!

  20. None of the local newspapers are carrying this news. However, they are carrying the “news” as ‘rusty’ pointed out. Obama is fawning off the SSM debate to the states. For a movement that likes to compare itself to the civil rights movement, this is an EPIC fail. Didn’t the slave owners want to make slavery a state’s issue? Why is the gay left satisfied with Obama on this? If as the gay left had pointed out, SSM is the defining issue of this election, why vote for Obama now that his position is exactly the same as Romney’s? I thought every aspect of Romney is pure evil. I guess this is why Obama encouraged so many people to vote early. No do-overs. I guess there can be some do-agains…

  23. It’s been said that all of President Obama’s promises have an expiration date. I just didn’t think that this one would be so short. But heck, he got their money and with early voting, their support. Now it’s time to spin up the black vote. Gays, please step under the bus.

    Comment by Paul — October 27, 2012 @ 8:34 am - October 27, 2012

  24. Neal Broverman reports at the Advocate:
According to Paul Bell, press secretary for Obama’s reeelection efforts in the northwestern state, “While the president does not weigh in on every single ballot measure in every state, the president believes in treating everyone fairly and equally, with dignity and respect. Washington’s same-sex marriage law would treat all Washington couples equally, and that is why the Presdient supports a vote to approve Referendum 74.”

  26. Former Prop.8 proponent and key trial witness David Blankenhorn came out in support of the marriage equality movement in a big way this past June when he wrote a New York Times opinion editorial detailing his evolution on the issue.

He’s now speaking out in opposition to Minnesota’s proposed constitutional amemdment that would ban same-sex marriage.

It’s pretty remarkable to see this man’s transition from being a staunch opponent to becoming a true advocate for the marriage equality cause. See what he has to say to Minnesotans in this short clip after the jump!

David Blankenhorn Encourages Minnesotans To Vote No

Blankenhorn understands that gay couples aren’t trying to destroy marriage. On the contrary, they’re trying to solidify their homes and the lives of their families. What could bring more strength to the institution of marriage as a whole than that?

  31. rusty.. nice deflection. SSM at the state level is a do-nothing, feel good action used to extract cash from the gay community and to set up conservatives as evil.

Here are my questions to you :
Why on Earth would Obama be for federal SSM as a state senator, against it as a US Senator, then for state SSS as POTUS?

Do you think civil rights should have been left up to the states?

The gay left has made it perfectly clear there are no other issues of importance other than SSM. If SSM is THE defining element of the gay left agenda and Obama is against that element, why are you supporting him?

I have asked this series of questions to several gay lefty Obama supporters online. Not one of them answered.

  35. I know my priorities are kind of screwed up; but I actually think the economy, fiscal responsibility, and national security are more important issues than whether you can get a piece of paper from a Government bureaucracy to legitimize a same-sex relationship.

Also, the SCOAMF lies about his economic, fiscal, and national security agenda, too. So, it’s not just teh gheys he treats with disdain and contempt.

  37. All I see is Obama saying that Federal legislation on this issue is a bad idea, and that any legislation should be at the state level. This makes perfect sense, actually, because the gay marriage issue isn’t going to be resolved at the Federal legislative level, it’ll need to be resolved at the Supreme Court level. We’re talking about We-The-People RIGHTS here, not a government-granted statutory acknowledgement of gay marriage that can be taken away by congress as fast as it was granted.
