Wilder is doing it as a loyal Democrat but probably has no personal loyalty to Obama. So far as I know, Obama has ignored him throughout his presidency. The same can be said for Bill Clinton. He know that he´s lying through his teeth campaigning for Obama. Obama is 180º from Clinton. He knows that Obama has not continued his policies nor will he if reelected. He is doing it to help the party so that he can call in favors to help Hillary in 2016.

Some inside baseball concerning Doug Wilder (who is a-fren-o-mine). Obama not only asked nothing of him this campaign cycle, he sent word to lie low. (I would say: butt out, but Doug got the message and I only know the general essence of the directive.)

Wilder is no fool and an extremely savvy navigator of political seas. His ego is fully satisfied and his ego does not require stroking or feeding; he is very comfortable in his skin (pardon the pun) and with who he is as a leader. But, Obambi treats him as a case of moderation herpes. Big mistake. Wilder has worked effectively for Kaine (for Senate) and together they have essentially kept their distance from Obama.

Wilder was the first popularly elected black governor (forget the Reconstruction era stuff) and he did it in the state that was the Mother of the Confederate States of America. He is an old fashioned Democrat who understands the power of compromise and keeping focused on the details of how to make progress by bringing people together.

I had some good friends who were life long republicans who were convinced by a democratic friend to vote for Wilder, and they never regretted their vote.

I think Wilder is a democrat who is more in the blue dog mold than the far left liberal. I suspect that is why he was well respected in Virginia.

I think even Wilder sees the writing on the wall – this, and the CBS piece which was edited out of the fawning SnObama intervew can only mean one thing.
