So today CNN asks, “Where’s FEMA?”

November 8, 2012 by B. Daniel Blatt

Drudge and others in the conservative media have been commenting for days on the failure of FEMA to help citizens in areas afflicted by Hurricane Sandy. And almost no one seemed to notice. Now that’s beginning to change. Wonder why that is.

UPDATE:  Yahoo!  also reports (last headline below):

UP-UPDATE:  And Yahoo! is paying even more attention:

Geez, I can’t imagine. Politicizing people suffering. FEMA—big government and socialism at work. At least within the parameter’s of Obama’s vision.

fwiw SI is also the closest thing to a GOP stronghold in NYC (about 40% registered GOP), so now NYC and NYS is are somehow even less “red”….

    Reality vs. unreality.

The Obama campaign and the media (but I repeat myself) put forth an *image* of Obama being presidential during the storm. Some say it swayed the undecided voters. But what was/is the reality?

I’m sure race had alot to do with Obama’s victory in Staten island. I voted at PS46 on the corner of Broadway&Herberton. The line was long and it took me an hour to vote. I have never seen that much black voter turnout in the decades I’ve been voting. It will be interesting to see the numbers.

I think like radio host Mark Levin said tonight, it was really the promise of “free stuff” that got democrats the victory in the end.

If CNN is asking “where’s FEMA,” then it’s time for me to ask “Where is Anderson Cooper carrying on and crying in the streets about how it is all Obama’s fault?”

Blaming the media is a strategy that only makes for insular arguments. Why did the Media say so clearly that Obama was doing a good job? Bias? Maybe. But more likely its because the keynote Speaker of the GOP convention said so. So why wouldn’t the media listen to a man who has nothing to gain?

“I think like radio host Mark Levin said tonight, it was really the promise of “free stuff” that got democrats the victory in the end.”

This is a losing argument. It does nothing to teach us how to go forward. Its condescending and only projects a bias on 1/2 the country.

I don’t know if you know this, but liberals are planning on turning AZ & NC blue in2016 and TX blue in 2020. They look at the demographics and think its possible. And when Obama gets a path to citizenship in place, and the GOP in the house will be to scared to vote it down it might be.
GOP’s hope is places like PA, OH,IA, NH, VT and OR in 2016 & MI and WI and maybe MN in 2020. The GOP needs to appeal to those people without calling everyone who believes in good governance as “takers.” Many of the people in those states will listen to a conservative argument that is based on smaller government without making Focus on the Family’s beliefs constitutional law.

If America votes for fiscal irresponsibility and economic collapse because Republicans don’t want to give them free birth control and unlimited taxpayer-funded abortion-on-demand, then American can suck on the consequences.

I wash my hands of this.

mike’s an amusing person. He wants Republicans to become liberals, because once they are no different than Democrats, everything will be better, somehow.

    Lol.

If those people were remotely interested in “good governance”, they wouldn’t be endorsing and supporting tax cheats and welfare frauds.

Even concern-troll mike admits Obama is a failure at good governance, but voted for him and his Obama Party.

Why? Because mike and his fellow Obama supporters are moochers and looters. Obama promised them more free stuff and that he would punish the people they hate; therefore, they don’t care, the rest of the country can go to hell. For a tax cheat, welfare fraud, and economic failure supporter like mike to whine about “good governance” is nothing more than hypocrisy on an epic scale.

And speaking of Focus on the Family, they put their money where their mouth is.

Versus Planned Abortionhood, which demands taxpayer funding of unlimited abortion and spends millions lobbying for abortionist politicians and government funding of abortion.

Obama gutted welfare reform and essentially waived any requirements that welfare recipients make any effort at work. mike voted for him, eagerly and happily. Makes me doubt his concern troll b-s about supporting welfare but only for people who need it.

Isn’t it interesting how concern trolls like lower-case-mike are always demanding Republicans become more socially liberal; they never demand that Democrats become more fiscally responsible.

Isn’t that an interesting quirk? Wonder why that is.

Did Mike just sound positive about smaller government? Mike, you do know that means fewer ‘programs’ by gubmint and more participation by you in feeding the poor and telling people to ‘keep it zipped’ for the common good?
I’m sure you and other lefties would like that since you all tell us all the time how much you care.

Not to derail anything, but you might consider doing an open thread or starter thread to get reader feedback on what they plan on doing going forward for a 2nd Obama term. It’s been weighing heavily on my mind as the emotional goes away and the practical sets in what to do and plan for in the next 4 years. If I had to guess, spending and debt levels will continue to be high, and taxes will probably be increasing. But I consider the bunch on here pretty knowledgeable so I would love to see what others are thinking/making plans for. Just a thought. Cheers!

hard to have any sympathy for people in NY affected by the storm. Sorry for the eventual 40% who allegedly voted Romney (that is not to say 40% of population, it is 40% of people who actually voted).

I hope conservative people do not donate and if they do, that they directly give in the hands of conservatives families affected (friends of friends) and not to the generic population.

There should be a heavy payback for all the people that called you racist and homophobes.

I am 200% sure if tables were turned leftists (who normally do not help and do not give to charity) would only cheer at a disaster in a red area.

Think twice before doing anything to favour non-conservatives. Do not feed the beast. This has been my philosophy for the past 20 years. I have slipped a few times and I still regret it to this day.

Turning the GOP into liberal lite will guarantee they never win elections. Why would anyone vote for the GOP when the democrats are the real thing.

If America votes for fiscal irresponsibility and economic collapse because Republicans don’t want to give them free birth control and unlimited taxpayer-funded abortion-on-demand, then American can suck on the consequences.

    Pretty much.

When the debt is 16 trillion dollars, promising more free stuff isn’t going to make things better.

There is no magic money tree in Washington, and there aren’t enough rich people to tax to get all this free stuff.

The democrats are turning into the party of the very poor and the very rich, because the very poor want the entitlements to continue and the very elite are fairly insulated from the pain of a poor economy.

The people in the middle get screwed. They make too much to get the free stuff, and they don’t make enough to feel financially stable.

Blaming the media is not equivalent to acknowledging that the media is basically a propaganda arm for the Democratic Party. Get this through your head, please.

Not to mention-the bias in the media is often more in what they choose NOT to cover than what they do cover.

Benghzai-giant media yawn. The NYT wrote more stories about Romney and his dog than they did about Benghazi (and yes I looked this one up when debating the issue elsewhere and was told to prove my belief that the media had covered more of Romney’s gaffes than Benghazi).

If a GOP president had what happened in Benghazi go down-the media would be chasing him down and screaming constant questions. The nightly news would have led with the story every night through election night. The media would have had it on every Sunday talk show leading up to the election. The media would have plastered it on the front page every day.

The media does this all the time.
