As I’ve spent a lot of time away from my computer over the Thanksgiving weekend, I haven’t had much time to blog, but I remain aware that there are many things to blog about, the president still failing to reach out to Republicans in a spirit of magnanimity, after his narrow victory earlier this month, the looming fiscal cliff, the cease-fire between Israel and the Hamas terrorists, Democrats’ demagoguing Ambassador Susan Rice’s awkward explanation of the Benghazi attacks, that scandal. . .
Perhaps, I’m not one to comment on this, given that I don’t watch all that much network news, so have included a question mark in my title. Was watching an NBC newscast with my younger sister’s in-laws and saw them fawning over President Obama’s visit to a D.C.-area bookstore.
And I wondered if they ever did such puff pieces on his predecessor when he was in office. Seems that every time the broadcast networks reported a Republican president’s shopping excursion, they reported it as some kind of pandering/political posturing or tried to show how out-of-touch said Republican was with the concerns of “middle-class” Americans or how clueless he was about the technology at supermarket checkouts.
Seems they’ve always been trying to portray Obama as a regular guy, but his predecessor (and most recent political opponent) as anything but.
