For Obama to be truly magnanimous. . .
. . . he needs not merely meet with his erstwhile opponent for the White House and negotiate in good faith with Republican legislators, he also needs acknowledge the sincerity ofRepublican concerns and appreciate that over 49% of Americans who voted in the presidential contest had legitimate reasons for voting against him.
And by acknowledge of Republican concerns, he needs express his understanding of why Republicans fear tax hikes, even if just on the “wealthy,” might dampen the sluggish recovery. And if he is going to insist on this tax hike, he needs counter their argument in civil terms.

Agreed. But he won’t. His character is that of an ideologue, and it’s rigid. One dimensional. It would take an act of God, and then God would have to keep his arm behind his back.
I might argue that of the amost 51% who did vote for him, a good majority of them really have no idea what they voted for by voting for him.

Yeah, I must have missed the campaign commercial where Obama promised to demand unlimited authority to raise the debt limit and support the UN gun control treaty.

It isn’t in his character.

Actually, Passing By, all Obama supporters voted for Obama because they are racist looters and moochers.
After all, you and your fellow Obama Nazi children screamed that the only reason people voted against Obama was for racism and because they actually believed they should be allowed to keep what they earned.

The Democrat sales pitch was “We’ll take money from other people and buy you stuff with it.”
Every single person who voted Democrat was voting for that.

#4: “appreciate that over [51%] of Americans who voted in the presidential contest had legitimate reasons for voting against [Republicans].”
Yeah, Passing By, we’ll do that just as soon as you and every other leftist in America stops characterizing conservative/Republican opposition to Obama’s policies as “racist,” “obstructionist,” and “tanking the economy on purpose.”

And don’t forget how the idiot Barack Obama is now screaming that anyone who opposes higher tax rates is a racist.
What a brain-dead, pathetic, worthless little child Obama is.

Question, why do you think Obama hasn’t sent Bill Clinton to negotiate with Republicans? Clinton won every round back in the 90′s, and Democrats love to point out how good the economy was under him.
Comment by V the K — December 3, 2012 @ 7:19 pm - December 3, 2012
Let it all burn! As Obama is fond of quoting, “…Election have Consequences, I won!” Let’s let him choke on it…
Let “Obama” replace “Hoover” as an economic Presidential anathema.

I agree-it isn’t in Obama’s character to do this.
I also think Obama loves the trappings of being president but not so much the work, and negotiating honestly would require work.
It also doesn’t help that the media are ever willing to go with whatever story about who is to blame Obama spoon feeds them. Obama has and will continue to have the upper hand in any negotiations because he and the media will blame it all on the GOP no matter what happens.
I am not particularly opposed to raising taxes on the wealthiest earners (although I actually prefer Romney’s idea of limiting deductions and closing loop holes) but I think there needs to be a real effort made to control spending.
Obama wants to spend money and either can’t do math or isn’t very honest because anyone can see that there aren’t enough rich people to pay for all the stuff Obama wants to spend money on.

He should shoot himself in the head and free the planet of his unmistakably useless presence
