The “Noisy Room” article is disquieting. Not that many years ago, the scenario presented would be considered nonsense… the stuff of fiction.
But these days, it seems almost plausible. We have a president that spends a lot of time rabble-rousing – a continuous campaign for undermining the rights of citizens and national sovereignty and pitting people against each other – keeping the people from noticing the still-deteriorating fiscal situation.
The GOP is too clueless and craven (or, just as likely – in on the game) to offer any meaningful opposition. There’s a reason that everything is presented as an immediate crisis requiring immediate action (why the boner for immigration reform Right This Minute?). Don’t let the citizenry focus… it’s like a magician making sure you don’t see what’s going on with the other hand.
Peace, order, and liberty are not the natural state of man… it’s been the exception, not the rule, throughout history. Tyranny is the rule for the majority of humans today. To think the US is immune to reversion to the natural order of things is a delusion.
I fear America may well get the bill for years of decadence, of bread & circuses sooner rather than later.
