Americans not liking the age of Obama

I’m late on this news, but still think it’s worth noting.

Fewer than four-in-10 Americans (39 percent) rate the US in a positive manner – the most negative feedback the country has produced since 1979.

A new Gallup poll finds that Americans are as negative about the country’s prospects as they have been in more than three decades…[whereas] fifty-five percent of Americans say the state of the nation five years ago was positive…

…The three previous points in time when ratings were as low as or lower than the 2013 rating were in August 1979 (34 percent), April 1974 (33 percent), and January 1971 (39 percent).

Where were these people, last Election Day? If they voted for Obama (and we know that some must have): What were they thinking?

Of course, a lot of them were/are deluded um, “low information voters”:

Seventy-five percent of Democrats gave positive reviews of how the nation will be five years from now…

  1. Some weren’t thinking. I have a colleague who admits to not knowing enough about pplitics to have an intelligent discussion about them, but was and is a supporter of El Presidente because of his position(s) on gay rights and because he’s half black. Some others hate America and love what he’s doing to the place.

  2. If they voted for Obama (and we know that some must have): What were they thinking?

They were thinking that not voting for Obama would send a message that the black man is not good enough to be President.

They were thinking that poor Obama was given a real plate full and that it is unfair to think that he could straighten it all out in four years.

They were thinking that nothing major has happened to the economy and that all the hysteria on the right is just theatrics.

They were thinking that free health care is coming all the talks about high costs and no service was just more hysterics.

They were thinking that all the Republicans care about is protecting the evil, greedy bankers and their Wall Street buddies who get bonuses in the millions for bilking the little guy and the pension funds.

They were thinking Romney is just another rich suit who is out to make his pals happy and help the rich get richer.

They were thinking that the owner of bar and grill in the strip mall is making a fortune and has no worries.

They were thinking that Best Buy is doing very, very well. Just look at all the stuff they have in stock for the rich guys.

They were watching the shows on TV and getting all sorts of validation from talking yentas and sit-com derangement examples and Jon Stewart.

They were getting popular culture feedback and affirmation.
