New Tax Threatens Dancing In Seattle, Gays To Riot?

News from the world of the absurd…..

Hallie Kuperman loves to dance. But what she loves even more is sharing this passion with visitors to her social dancing club, the Century Ballroom.

Hallie purchased the vintage dancing space 16 years ago, turning it into a Seattle institution. The Century Ballroom not only teaches swing, tango and the foxtrot, it also hosts cabarets and other live performances for an eclectic crowd of all ages. The club’s trendsetting owner has become a prominent and beloved figure in the community.

Business was swinging until a surprise bill arrived from Washington’s Department of Revenue. The state agency decided to reinterpret an obscure old tax, audited the Century Ballroom, and demanded a check for $92,000.

  1. While I feel sorry for this woman, I would bet my left kidney that she voted in the very government that is screwing her over now. Seattle is such a deep, dark blue. There are no Republicans in Seattle City Government. The last mayoral election was a bunch of Democrats running against each other in the Primary, the top two advanced. All nine members of the Seattle City Council are Democrats. I would bet you money that even after this woman survives all of this and pays off the big tax bill, she will continue to vote for the same party that put her in this financial hole. I live in the suburbs outside of Seattle because it’s a fricking politically correct, over-regulated hell hole there. Sadly, some of the same idiots who have ruined Seattle are seeping out into the suburbs. I am holding my breath until we in the suburbs will be subjugated to the garbage nazis (people who are paid to go throw your garbage to make sure that you are recycling properly and not throwing food scraps in the garbage but in the yard waste bin, I kid you not). I’m not sure if the plastic bag ban ever got signed into law there (they were agitating for it), but I do know that they outlawed styrofoam food containers there. Anyways, it sucks but as we all know, elections have consequences!

  2. Well, clearly, the state must tax those who provide the opportunity to dance and redistribute the money to those who did not take advantage of the opportunity to dance.

You see, in a fair and just world, everyone would not only have the opportunity to dance, but the government would make them dance. Once everyone is dancing, then the government could award everyone a first place trophy and then tax them for every move they make.
