Holder being investigated for perjury

From The Hill:

The House Judiciary Committee is investigating whether Attorney General Eric Holder lied under oath during his May 15 testimony on the Justice Department’s (DOJ) surveillance of reporters…

“In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material — this is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy,” Holder said during the hearing.

However, NBC News reported last week that Holder personally approved a search warrant that labeled Fox News chief Washington correspondent James Rosen a co-conspirator in a national security leaks case…

Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (Wis.), the second-ranking Judiciary Committee Republican, told The Hill that Holder should resign. He accused Holder of misleading the panel during the investigation of the Fast and Furious gun-tracking operation, and again when he claimed to not know about the AP probe…

The House voted to find Holder in contempt over his refusal to turn over documents to lawmakers on Fast and Furious…

I feel two ways about this. Part of me says, the AG should not get away with lying to Congress (if he has, in fact, done so). Another part says: what’s the big deal? Holder has a technicality here (he can say that he didn’t lie, because approving a warrant on Rosen with intent to see if he should be prosecuted is not actually prosecuting him). Anyway, the whole thing is the kind of (low) standard that we expect from the Obama administration, by now.

Brit Hume makes what may be a better point, that Obama putting Holder in charge of investigating the DOJ’s spying on the media is a giant conflict of interest.

UPDATE: Showing what sane people are up against in today’s world, Yahoo!’s current lead headline is “Obama, Christie rekindle their bromance”. Really, media machine? You couldn’t find something better to report on?

  1. Bush’s fault, right mikey?

  2. Thing is, even if he was found guilty, what would happen? Labor Relations Board appointments were found unconstitutional, but nothing happened to them. Holder has already been found guilty of contempt of Congress, so, as Swillary is famous for saying, “What difference does it make?”

  3. The whole reason for all of these scandals coming out at the same time is to overwhelm the system. That’s been the plan from the beginning, break one rule after another, incrementally breaking down the system…death by 1000 cuts.

  4. Obama just heard about the Sandy devastation on Friday in the press.

  7. But he sought the search warrant by telling a judge that Rosen was a possible co-conspirator in espionage. If he never intended to prosecute Rosen then he lied to a judge to obtain a warrant to secretly go fishing through a reporter’s emails. Either Holder lied to Congress or he personally approved of his prosecutor lying to a judge. Neither acts are becoming of an atourney general.

  8. When did the “Fast and Furious” Mexican gunrunning scandal get swept under the rug on the Hill? Holder mislead by intent or omission there too.

…And what about Solyndra and the Fisker auto plant deal in Delaware, and about a hundred other crony sweetheart “economic” and “green energy” loans and bond-deals by the Obama Admin. that cost the US Taxpayer billions in unrecoverable loans?

  9. That’s easy, Ted.

It happened when you and your fellow “moderates” decided to stop holding Obama accountable for his behavior and started berating the social conservatives you hate for not supporting gay-sex marriage.

So congratulations. You got exactly what you paid for, which is a tin-pot dictator who thinks your constitutional rights exist at his whim, but who (for now) is promising you gay-sex marriage.

So when your taxes get hiked to the stratosphere and your business gets hit with wave after wave of “inspections” and “audits” because you dared to criticize Obama, maybe you can wave your gay-sex marriage certificate and that will make everything all magically better.

    Or not.

  10. Exactly “when” did I stop holding Obama accountable? NEVER…
