Is Obama’s Neverending Campaign Hurting his Reputation?

June 20, 2013 by B. Daniel Blatt

Take a gander at this screen capture.  Interesting juxtaposition between ad and article, no?

Screen shot 2013-06-20 at 9.12.18 AM

Question for the day: does his perpetual campaigning help compromise the Democrat’ “Reputation for Integrity”?

And please tell me how did Mr. Obama acquired such a reputation? Through his actions? (What specific actions helped him earn it?)

If it’s taken over 5 years for people to see President Perpetual Campaign this way, as he actually is … I do not hold out much hope for the nation.

Where did Obama get the reputation? The Media decreed it be so, and so it was. Seriously, even if the Media did nothing but simply cover Obama objectively — no attacking him like they did Bush, and not the perpetual tongue-bath they have been giving him since 2007, he would collapse of his own ineptness.

His “claim to fame” before becoming President would be neatly split between voting ‘Present,’ and unsealing records to destroy opponents, since he has no record or accomplishments of his own to trumpet.

Obama also ‘plays’ intelligent well on TV, when he has a ‘prompter feeding him the lines.

The overriding factor in his appeal, I think, has been White Liberal Guilt. Liberalism in general is about cheap grace: the sin-guilt-and-redemption cycle done on-the-cheap, with forgiveness obtained merely when a person professes the politically-correct opinions. White liberals itched to have a “clean, articulate” (said Joe Biden?) mixed-race man looking down his nose at them, who would subtly make them feel their inner guilt and worthlessness – and then forgive them or let them redeem themselves, cheaply, by their mere support for him.

And of course, who would package it overtly (or superficially) as them looking down their noses together at the nasty Conservative Bogeyman. But Herman Cain, quite a genuine black man, he was the opposite of most of that and so he had to be given intensive media scrutiny and safely destroyed.

No. Obama’s core of voters don’t care about integrity as long as they get their Obamaphones, welfare checks, and free contraceptives.

For what is he now campaigning? He is a lame duck President with enough scandals that would have a credible MSM reeling in horror. But he the first African-American President. (but, raised by a white family) And, he has a Nobel Peace Prize to boot………….. OK, call me a racist. Where is Chris Matthews?

We can only hope that the nonstop campaign will hurt him, but I fear that most people tune it out or, to the extent that they notice it, they’ll probably echo whatever the lamestream press tells them about how those “mean conservatives” are making it hard for poor Barry, and thereby necessitating the perpetual campaign.

Slightly off-topic, but a related point: Did anyone see the clip yesterday of Chris Matthews saying that Obama’s speech in Berlin wasn’t so great only because the afternoon sun prevented him from effectively reading the teleprompter?

There’s something particularly annoying about the question: “Are you in?”

Are we obediently in the herd, where we belong? The other lemmings are headed for the cliff — are we with them?

More than this, it reminds me of junior high. The cool kids have invited us to sit at their table. There’s only one empty chair left — let’s scramble for it!

Everything about the way Emperor O and his minions treat us presupposes that we are idiots, with no self-respect and no will of our own.

Lori – Great comment, and it seems a good many of his supporters are just as you describe. Can you fault the man for doing what’s worked for him, so far?

    We can and should.

If you were to ask Harry Reid if the Democrats had a “Reputation for Integrity”, he’d say yes.

But it would be news to me.

There’s DEFINITELY a bumper sticker in that. Thank you!

I’d echo Bastiat Fan on that last point, ILC. That is a great and pithy expression of one of modern liberalism’s guiding principles. It actually ties in with a topic I’m hoping to devote a much longer post to in the near future.

Liberalism in general is about cheap grace

A corollary to the observation that every liberal policy, without exception, is based on selfishness.

Here is a video of Rep Guillory, a black man, telling the public why he switched from the Democrat to Republican Parity. Very inspiring:
