Why release global warming speech to liberal supporters (before delivering it)?

June 25, 2013 by B. Daniel Blatt

Interesting:

The public won’t officially see or hear President Obama’s climate change speech before he delivers it this afternoon at Georgetown University, but liberal supporters already have it — and are even commenting on it hours in advance.

Did W ever release a speech to conservative supporters before delivering it?  Just askin’.

Wouldn’t have thought a post-partisan kind of guy would do a thing like this.

As Gabriel Malor notes at Ace:

The President, still in search of a topic change, will today give a speech about global warming. He’s going to sidestep Congress and crack down on power plants via the EPA.

Seems like the guy is trying to rally his liberal base.  Wonder why that is.

What else does he have???? On the plus side, at least you can’t accuse him of sticking his finger in the air, because it’s complete lack of public interest, this is DEFINITELY NOT the topic a better / less isolated politician would take up. He could take up something more difficult an timely like, say, IRS reform. But that require cooperation with the pother side of the isle, and we know that’s just not going to happen.

We have the G W Bush “Do you miss me yet” meme… I thing it’s even time to also start a Bill Clinton one with the same message, because you know damned well that even with Gore by his side, looking at the polling numbers on global warming in their current depressed state, he wouldn’t touch this topic with a ten foot cigar! 🙂

Interestingly, while recent “human-caused” global warming is supposed to be entirely our fault—scientists are finding that atmospheric temperature in Venus have also been recently-rising, suggesting the Sun’s thermal output has increased.

That suggests that Ohio-based coal-fired electric-generating plants are warming Venus as-well.

Given the threat to unleash the EPA on coal-fired electricity generation it needs to be publicized that change to the level of atmospheric CO2 has had no significant effect on average global temperature.

This is demonstrated at http://climatechange90.blogspot.com/2013/05/natural-climate-change-has-been.html . This paper presents a simple equation that calculates average global temperatures since they have been accurately measured world wide (about 1895) with an accuracy of 90%, irrespective of whether the influence of CO2 is included or not. The equation uses a single external forcing, a proxy that is the time-integral of sunspot numbers. A graph is included which shows the calculated temperature anomaly trajectory overlaid on measurements.

All changes not explicitly considered must find room in the unexplained 10%.

Maybe he could give a speech on the dangers of “Topic Change” instead.

Anthony Watts at the “Watts Up With That” web site got a copy but he honored the embargo until 6am Eastern time. His site isn’t exactly a bastion of progressive moonbattery.

Presidents / congresspeople / mayors / governors and wanna-be’s often give speeches to the media ahead of time.
To my understanding, they do it because if the person goes off script, they can point to the approved words as to what was actually meant.

He greased the skids, pimped his speech, roused the rabble, etc., etc. And no, GWB never pre-promoted himself. Obama is your quintessential community organizer, Chi-town thug. He can’t be bothered to work with Congress on anything, it’s completely beneath him. He is a hard left partisan hack, and the only compromise he believes in is Republican capitulation to his left wards agenda. By ginning up his base, he is hoping they put the squeeze on Congress so he can get his way. He is not a leader in any way, he is not Presidential. It’s an absolutely appalling and disasterous way to govern.
