The President Deals with a Crisis

SCENE: The White House Situation Room

THE PLAYERS: The POTUS, the V-POTUS, the SecState, NSA (National Security Advisor Susan Rice), the Ambassador to the Ukraine, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Press Secretary.)

POTUS: All right people, what’s up with this Ukraine thing? And make it snappy, I’ve got a Tee Time.

Chairman JCS: Mr. President, Russia is flying troops into Crimea to secure the strategic seaport at Svastopol. The Treaty of Budapest obligates the US to come to the aid of Ukraine in the event of Russian invasion. If we signal weakness on this, the Chinese may see this as a go-ahead to retake Taiwan…

SecState: Okay, enough with the warmongering jibber-jabber. I’ll have you know I served in Vietnam. In my opinion, Mr. President, Ukraine is just a distraction from the real strategic threat.

POTUS: Which is what?

SecState: Global Warming, of course.

POTUS: Right, of course. (Checks watch) Mr Ambassador, what can you tell us about the situation?

Ambassador to the Ukraine: (Shrugs) I don’t know. I only got this job because I donated 400 large to the campaign. I never even heard of the place. For real, up until my confirmation I thought U-Crane was like some crane rental company or something. Like -Haul… but with Cranes, you know what I am saying.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs: Mr. President, if I may…

POTUS: Shut up, warmonger. Susan, what’s your take on this.

NSA Susan Rice: Well… have you guys ever seen that video where the cats are in Russian uniforms marching to Laibach?

POTUS: What does that have to do with anything?

NSA Susan Rice: I just wondered if we could blame it for what’s happening in Ukraine or whatever.

POTUS: Good thought. Let’s bookmark that. Jay, where’s the media on this.

Press Secretary: It’s getting serious. MSNBC even broke their coverage of Bridgegate to talk about it.

POTUS: Well, what did they say?

Press Secretary: Rachel Maddow is blaming the Koch Brothers.

POTUS: Finally, some good news. Joe, you’ve been quiet. What do you think we need to do?

VPOTUS: I think we can just ride this one out and count on the media to cover our asses as usual. Meanwhile, throw some red meat to the base to keep them distracted. I hear an interracial gay couple in Alabama found a cross on their lawn.

POTUS: Was it burning?

VPOTUS: No, it actually turned out to be a real estate sign that fell over, but Dan Savage has already sent about 70 furious tweets about it. If we point, the media will gin up something, and before you know, Ukraine will be all “What difference does it make” and “phony scandal.”

POTUS: (Smiling) Joe, that’s why you are the brains of this outfit. All right, I’m out. Later, gators.

An “Insipid Woman” Saw this Coming

In 2008, Vice Presidential nomineed Sarah Palin was attacked and ridiculed for pondering an outrageous, impossible scenario that no one could possibly take seriously.

Palin helpfully offered four scenarios for such a crisis, one of which was this strange one:

After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama’s reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia’s Putin to invade Ukraine next.

Wow. What an imbecile. We sure dodged a bullet there, didn’t we?

Tammy Bruce’s Take on the Wedding Cake Fascists

Thanks to commenter Annie. This is an angle I had not considered.

Having been a liberal “community organizer” in my past, I immediately recognized the strategy being employed. This is an effort to condition the public into automatically equating faith with bigotry.

To make faith in the public square illegal and dangerous, you need legal cases and publicity. Voila, lawsuits against small business resting on the notion that acting on genuinely held faith is bigotry per se.

Under these rules, freedom of conscience is squashed under the jackboot of liberals, all in the Orwellian name of “equality and fairness.” Here we are dealing with not just forcing someone to do something for you, but forcing them in the process to violate a sacrament of their faith as well.

Read the whole thing, and note how polite and supportive the WashTimes commenters are toward her.

President Stomps Foot, Threatens Russia with Harsh Rhetoric, Makes Lame Exercise Video

Earlier this afternoon, President Obama gave a very stern warning to Russia not to intervene in the Ukraine.

Oops, wrong link. Meh, whatever.

President Obama said he was “deeply concerned” on Friday over reports that Russian troops are meddling in Ukraine as armed men took up positions in Ukraine’s Crimean region. “Any violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity would be deeply destabilizing, which is not in the interest of Ukraine, Russia or Europe,” he said.

Q. Does any intelligent believe that President Obama would really intervene militarily in Ukraine? A. No.

Q. Does Vladimir Putin give two hoots about President Stompy Foot’s threats?
A. See above.

BTW, here’s a link to an actual video of the president, in which he manages to embarrass and humiliate the United States only slightly less than his foreign policy does.(“Oh yeah, *that* guy makes me think twice about engaging in bad behavior,” said no foreign tyrant ever.)

Update: MSDNC keeps its viewers informed of the most important breaking news and developments.

Update: Putin sends Russian troops into Ukraine; Obama attends Democrat fundraiser. #Priorities.

Thwarting the Wedding Cake Fascists Passive Aggressively

Commenter Just Me had a pretty brilliant idea:

Maybe the response for florists, bakers and photographers is to tell gay couples if they hire their services for their weddings that they will be donating 100% of the profits to a sanctity of marriage group.

Drops the bomb right into the laps of those who for whatever reason want to force religious bakers to bake cakes and photographers to take pictures.

Awesome, yes?

Obama Guts the Military; Poor and Minorities Hardest Hit

President Obama’s aggressive reduction of American military power to pre-World War II levels (while environmental policies force them to buy biofuel at $59 per gallon) will have an adverse impact on minorities.

The Pentagon’s proposed defense cuts – shrinking the U.S. Army to its smallest size since before World War II – has Hispanic war veterans concerned about the thousands of current military personnel who are going to lose their jobs and worried about lost opportunities for the next generation of Latino youths.

That’s Obama for you, he lets gays into the military. Then, he destroys the military. But in the attitude of Democrats like Barack Obama and John Kerry only losers end up in the military anyway; and instead of learning the value of hard work, honor, and discipline, those people will be better off on the welfare, food stamp, and Obamacare programs those cuts to the military will help pay for. It’s not as though they can all get jobs in the booming Obama recovery. But maybe a few lucky ones with criminal records can get hired as Obamacare Navigators.

Update: Sensing Obama’s weakness, US Adversaries begin expanding aggressively.

ManBearPig Blamed for Future Rapes

The Schizophrenic Rape Hysteria of the left continues unabated. Did you know Global Warming causes rape?

Global Warming Will Cause 180,000 More Rapes by 2099

Whoopi Goldberg has yet to comment on whether these would be “rapes” or “rape-rapes.”

It occurs to me that if Christian bakers and florists had compared being forced to participate in gay marriage to rape, they would have been mocked mercilessly; rightfully so. But leftwing nutjobs comparing an ultrasound to rape? A-OK.

Democrats have also blamed budget cuts for rapes.

And, of course, Richard Mourduck’s outrageous statement that children that were the product of rape were still worthy of love and protection cost him a senate seat.

But Planned Parenthood, an organization that protects rapists as a matter of policy, are progressive-left heroes.

NFL Seeks to Make Trash Talk More Gay-Friendly

The NFL is looking into banning a six-letter gay slur beginning with the letter f that rhymes with Bob Saget. Personally, I couldn’t care less, but I feel obligated by the topical relevance to this blog to note it anyway. A 280 lb. grown man who can bench press 600 lbs and run 100 yards in 4 seconds has no reason to be bothered by any sort of name-calling, but then again, neither does any other grown up.

Environmentalist Nutjobs to Native Americans: “Drop Dead, Literally, Drop Dead”

An Aleut village in Alaska offered to swap 50,000 acres of land for use as a wildlife refuge in return for being allowed to build an 11-mile gravel road to an airport so that villagers in need of lifesaving medical care could be transported to Anchorage. They have been fighting the Federal Government for thirty years to build the road and, in that time, nineteen people have died for lack of medical care they could otherwise have received.

But the Obama Department of the Interior shot them down, because Gaia.

Safe to bet Interior Secretary Sally Jewell never has to worry about being hundreds of miles from the nearest life-saving medical care.

The Aleuts should just go ahead and build the road and dare the Feds to stop them. Similar to what Democrat Chicago Mayor Richard Daley did with Meigs Airfield back in 2003. He got away with it, of course, because he’s a Democrat.

SB1062 Post-Mortem

So, what have we learned from this? Pretty much nothing we didn’t know already.

1. Gay people have come off looking like self-centered, lying jerks. Brutally honest here: If your attitude is “My special day will be rueeeeened unless I can force someone who doesn’t want to be there to participate,” that’s messed up and you’re a self-centered jerk. Healthy, well-adjusted people do not think that way; messed up jerks think that way.

Also, when gay activists claimed they wouldn’t force Christians to participate in gay marriages, they were obviously lying. Now, of course, they are back-pedaling, “We only meant churches and clergy wouldn’t be forced to participate.” Saying you have freedom of religion only within your church is like saying you only have freedom of speech in your living room. This once again demonstrates that the people who whine the loudest about “I don’t want other people forcing their values on me,” are the people most eager to force their values on everybody else.

Also, the gay activist left won again by being obnoxious. This does not mean they will become less obnoxious in the future.

2. The Media are a bunch of self-centered lying jerks. SB 1026 was a minor clarification to an existing law, and most certainly not a “turn away the gays” bill, but the lying liars in the MFM were only too happy to characterize it that way. They are as anti-Christian as the gay left, and made the most of another opportunity to sow rancor and social division at the expense of truth.

3. Politicians are cowardly and craven. Ace described Governor Jan Brewer as a “doltish weathervane.” I choose not to dispute that characterization.

Yes, it’s easier not to think about politics

My title (point) will strike most people as obvious. But some “obvious” things remain theoretical until they hit you. Then they feel almost like a new thought.

I’ve been on a break from “the news” for over 2 months now, and I feel relaxed. Life is easier this way. What Obama and the Democrats have been up to, by way of destroying most of what has been healthy and good about America, is so sad. And out of my control, so it’s easier to think about other things.

This may lead to a small insight into the “low-information voters” who support Obama / Democrats. Politics deals with life-and-death questions. A budget or regulatory change can force any number of people into changing their lives. ‘Not thinking about it’ is probably easier for most people, including those voters.

The average Democrat voter (that I’ve encountered) has a feeling that the Democrats seem to like abortion privileges, gays and blacks; and she likes those things, too; and she doesn’t think any further about politics, because she figures that whatever else the Democrats are up to, she would probably also like. Never mind that in reality, the Democrats are the stalwarts of that Big Government – Big Banking nexus which siphons off her earning power year after year, and whose nature is essentially fascist (anti-freedom).

What’s depressing for libertarian-conservatives is that the Republicans are only a little better. The GOP are better – as in, usually they are a bit less insane. But the GOP Establishment are also captives of (or intimidated by) the same Big Government – Big Banking nexus that uses/runs the Left. The GOP and Democrat establishments unite in seeking to destroy the Tea Party – who are the main people interested in a smaller government, to restore the prosperity and freedom of Americans.

…David Cooley, the founder of The Abbey Food & Bar located at 692 North Robertson Blvd., has announced the popular gay bar will add any legislator in any state who votes for “bills to allow for discrimination against LGBT people” to a “Deny Entry List.”…

“…we don’t want your kind here“…

Also, he refuses to host bachelorette parties for straight women. Oddly enough, I don’t hear any Christians complaining about it.

Continuing with the week’s theme of “How Effed Up is the Progressive Utopia of SFO,” the city’s elite progressive class have begun to reap what they have sown.

Vandals have targeted one of the Bay Area’s wealthiest communities and their handiwork has gotten the attention of the FBI.

Last Sunday, multi-million dollar homes in Atherton had offensive graffiti sprayed on them. The graffiti was found on walls, fences and even a car.

Many of the messages said “F*** the 1%,” a reference to the income inequality between the top one percent of Americans and the rest of the population.

One of the writings had a more threatening tone: “kill people.”

Do not expect them to learn anything from this:

“As long as nobody was hurt is the main thing,” said [a wealthy progressive who lives in the neighborhood]. “And you can always cover it up. “

Everything after this is a rant; feel free to ignore it.

Using the Todd Akin guilt-by-association method, we can conclude from this that all Democrats are whackjob 9-11 truthers. [Then again, they are the party that elected Alan Grayson, Sheila Jackson Lee, Liz Warren, and Fortney Stark.]

Also, he wants you to know that if you think it was wrong that four Americans were murdered by terrorists in Benghazi and the president lied about it, you’re mentally ill.

Rights for Me, But Not for Thee

MSDNC refused to air an ad from a gay rights group that criticized the network for interviewing the head of an “anti-gay” organization.

CNN refused to air an ad from a gay Republican organization.

CNN and NBC both refused to air an ad from a religious group that sought to welcome gays into their congregations.

CBS refused to air an ad for a gay dating service during the Superbowl.

A while back, ABC refused to air an ad from the Gay Rights group “Human Rights Campaign,” as well as a lesbian-owned travel agency. More recently, an ABC affiliate in Los Angeles refused to air an ad promoting gay families.

Yet, all of these progressive-left run news organizations are foursquare behind the proposition that Christians (But not Muslims, conspicuously) should be forced under penalty of law to bake cakes and arrange flowers for gay weddings; under the principle that no business owner ever has the right to refuse to serve anyone.

Just sayin’

Progressives Block Business Development in African American Community, Then Whine About Lack of Business Development in African American Community

Note: This piece was composed a few weeks ago, but not posted because it didn’t seem… postworthy. But it makes a nice pairing with the San Francisco piece from earlier today; same theme, the idiotic economic practices of urban utopian progressives.

Trader Joe’s … which I believe is a well-regarded retail establishment among progressive lefties… wanted to build a new store on a vacant lot in Portland, Oregon and bring jobs, business opportunities, and revenues to an economically challenged area of the city. This made a group of grievance-mongers very angry, and so they rose in protest against the store’s construction.

The loudest complaints came from PAALF, the Portland African American Leadership Forum. The group sent a blistering letter to city leaders in December, demanding a stop to the process and calling it “fraught with injustice.”

“Injustice” meaning that jobs and opportunity were going to be brought into their community, apparently. Anyway, they succeeded,Trader Joe’s canceled their development plans. But the grievance-mongers … surprise surprise… still weren’t happy. And issued new demands:

PAALF leaders said the development commission should publish a comprehensive accounting of the tax increment financing and spending in the Interstate corridor urban renewal area and compose a legally binding community benefits agreement to ensure the employment of African Americans in the construction of PDC sites.

Gee, it’s almost as though they are more interesting in constantly airing their grievances than having actual economic development in their community.

San Francisco Goes Full-On Kafka

Posted by V the K at 7:28 am - February 25, 2014.

In the Progressive Utopia of San Francisco (… cough… 6% Black) has a housing code (of course), and it s illiegal to have a rental unit that doesn’t comply with the code. So, what if a property owner has such an “illegal” unit? In a semi-rational society, he would have two choices: 1. Bring it up to code. 2. Tear it down.

That is one choice too many for the progressive utopians that run San Francisco.

Property owners looking to get rid of a unit that doesn’t meet city codes now will have to justify “why they are removing, rather than legalizing,” the illegal dwelling unit. If a property has more than two units, the owner must go through the discretionary review process, which can include a full-blown hearing before the City Planning Commission.

If planners decide there is a “feasible path to legalize the unit,” they will recommend that “the current housing affordability crisis creates an ‘exceptional and extraordinary’ circumstance such that the Commission should deny the (building) permit and preserve the unit,” Rahaim and Hui said in a Feb. 3 memo to the mayor.

No one really owns property in the Progressive Utopia; one is only allowed to administer it as the state directs.
