I Am Dave’s Complete Lack of Self-Awareness

February 26, 2014 by V the K

Because it is a violation of human rights for any business to refuse service to any customer (so I am made to understand it) a gay bar in Los Angeles are… um… refusing services to customers on the basis of (respectively) their beliefs and sexual orientation.

…David Cooley, the founder of The Abbey Food & Bar located at 692 North Robertson Blvd., has announced the popular gay bar will add any legislator in any state who votes for “bills to allow for discrimination against LGBT people” to a “Deny Entry List.”…

“…we don’t want your kind here“…

Also, he refuses to host bachelorette parties for straight women. Oddly enough, I don’t hear any Christians complaining about it.

A straight woman should sue, but really most people without the victim complex move on to somebody who wants their business.

Not sure how gays thinking these suits helps-in many ways it seems to reinforce an “us against them” dig in rather than opening any kind of communication for better understanding.

Yes, and it comes across as gays not wanting “equal rights” but instead, better rights.

    Divide, divide, divide.

Someone should sue his a$$. Literally.

The suits particularly help activist organizations that make a profit from frivolous suits. It is part of their business model. Nothing more. Just another way to shale down the productive class.

    What’s left to understand?
They’re leftist totalitarians who have no problem with destroying those who disagree with them and who reject their warped agenda.
All they’re interested in negotiating are the terms of our surrender.
You don’t sit down and ‘dialogue’ with people like that.
You destroy them before they destroy you.
If you think that the chasms that exist between the respective worldviews can be reconciled in any other way, you’re whistling past the graveyard.

Why would straight women go to a gay bar for their bachelorette parties?

    Annie,

Why would a gay couple go to a cake baker who doesn’t agree with SSM?

You’d think he’s be down with the straight women and their bachelorette parties. I’ve got two words for you: male strippers (and a lot of those guys are gay!) Why is this businessman hating on male strippers (of which a bunch are gay?) Is he some kind of self-loathing homophobe?! 😉

Most of the devout Christians I’ve known don’t frequent bars. Easy to ban people who aren’t planning to go there in the first place. Actual effect-Nil.

I am not a bar person at all but I have had quite a few straight female friends who like to go to gay bars if they mostly just want to drink and dance without worrying about getting laid.

I used to work with a woman who would go to a gay bar with her gay brother because it was a fun way to party without being pressured by horny straight men.

Not sure about the bachelorette party angle but it probably isn’t much different.

Yes, it is too obvious to say that such a “deny entry list” would be protected by the very law that he is against.

So, the kettle calls the pot black. (I swear that isn’t a racist comment against Obama)

I wonder how many gay small business owners are scratching their heads, worried about making enough money to keep their doors open and wondering why other gays are spending their time and energy fighting those who don’t want their business when supporting his or her small gay-owned business could make all the difference in the world.

I think Cooley’s idea was that it was offensive for straight women to bring their bachelorette parties to his establishment when gay people couldn’t marry. And because gay people couldn’t marry, he was in effect banning ALL bachelor/bachelorette parties, regardless of sexual orientation.

If that’s the case, then there was no sexual orientation discrimination.

Of course, now that same-sex marriage is legal in Cali, if he’s going to permit gay bachelor parties, then he should permit straight bachelorette parties. I suspect this is the case, since the original justification no longer exists.

While I’m fairly certain that a young cub like myself would be *ahem* “popular” in certain gay establishments, I’ve never had the… pleasure…? of going to one. The only gay bar near me seems to be mc’d by a drag queen. No thanks.

What’s wrong with drag queens? They are the funniest b*tches on the planet!

PS – I just caught Season 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Too funny!

I guess it’s a matter of taste. I just find drag queens way too loud for my tastes. Not my thing. A big burly muscle bear though… 😉

Frankly I don’t think anybody should complain. I think any business has right to deny service to some people for really any reason they give. Let the free market, NOT government, judge that behavior. If only the gay militant left would give Christians the same treatment.
