She Had Me at “Shock Collars”

Ann Coulter has some sound advice for the GOP:

All Republican candidates should be trained with shock collars and cattle prods to automatically respond, upon hearing some combination of the words “abortion,” “rape” and “incest”: “Yes, of course there should be exceptions in the case of rape or incest, and I also support giving rapists the death penalty, unlike my Democratic opponent, who wants to give rapists the right to vote. Now, back to what I was saying about Obamacare …

Masculinity Is Not Just An Act

It took a woman to say it, but the presumption of bitter feminists (which therefore must be treated as the Cultural Norm) that masculine traits are a pathology, and not being in touch with our feelers is a crippling handicap is misguided and socially damaging.

Christina Hoff Summers, writing on Time.com (the online version of that current events pamphlet in your doctor’s waiting room), shatters the assumptions about manhood and masculinity that form the foundation of contemporary feminist thought. To summarize the main points briefly:

  1. Masculinity is not a mask, it’s how men are.
  2. Despite feminist desires to the contrary, it’s unnatural for men to act like women.
  3. Masculine behavior in boys is not a mental disorder; again, contrary to what feminism teaches.
  4. Men don’t need to express emotions to each other empathetically in order to be psychologically health.

The video below, linked by a commenter a few months back, illustrates the point quite well (and infuriates feminist YouTube commenters).

Science Must Serve the Interests of the Party

A NASA scientician has authored a report whose conclusion is that humanity is doomed unless the Obama agenda of wealth redistribution and enviro-socialism is globally implemented.

The two key solutions are to reduce economic inequality so as to ensure fairer distribution of resources, and to dramatically reduce resource consumption by relying on less intensive renewable resources and reducing population growth:

“Collapse can be avoided and population can reach equilibrium if the per capita rate of depletion of nature is reduced to a sustainable level, and if resources are distributed in a reasonably equitable fashion.”

One wonders, did the study even consider the role of intact, traditional families in maintaining and building civilization? The role of free market capitalism in developing solutions to challenges much more effectively and efficiently than Government central planning? Of course not, because these ideas are not part of the Party’s agenda.

So, like a Christian baker forced to serve a cake to a newly “married” gay couple, science must put aside reason and obectivity and support the agenda of the Party.

The Skeptic Inside Me: MH370 Probably Wasn’t Terrorism

No link, because we all know the story, and I’m just spit-ballin’.

The disappearance of flight 370 seems to have brought out a lot of people’s inner… terrorist spy novel author guy. The MFM and their allies in Government are releasing information that seems to contradict itself day-to-day. (“The transponder was turned off before the last radio contact.” “Oh, wait, no it wasn’t.”) And people have been weaving these bits of misinformation together to form theories that the aircraft has been flown to a secret Taliban/Al Qaeda/Uighur base for some nefarious purpose. And it may be so, but the Inner Skeptic has his doubts.

The thing that has bothered the Inner Skeptic from the beginning is, if you planned to use the plane in a terrorist attack, why acquire it in such a high-profile way? Every Government is on alert for it, now. If you wanted to load a plane with explosives or a nuke or a dirty bomb, why not just acquire one on the international used aircraft market? That would be much lower profile

Mr Occam is offering the Inner Skeptic a very sharp and shiny piece of metal, and says that the plane probably had a systems malfunction, possibly an on-board electrical fire, that incapacitated the plane’s transponder and communication systems, as well as the crew. It then flew on autopilot out over the Indian Ocean before running out of fuel and crashing into the sea.

Not very exciting, but it seems more reasonable than an elaborate terrorist aircraft-theft scheme.

And another reason it can’t be terrorism is because President Obama personally killed Osama bin Laden; thus ending terrorism forever so we can reduce our military to Great Depression levels. (If I understand the talking point correctly.)

Paul Ryan Was Right

Paul Ryan recently made the mistake of speaking truth to power and was subsequently forced to grovel and apologize to power because power played the race card.

Ryan, in a conversation with Bill Bennett, linked the problem of welfare dependency to the “tailspin of culture in our inner cities, in particular, of men not working and just generations of men not even thinking about working or learning the value and the culture of work.”

This simple and obvious truth made all of the usual racist dogs (i.e. the Congressional Black Caucus whose members are largely elected from inner cities blighted by generations of welfare dependency) claimed they heard dog whistles.

This technique of squealing “racism” whenever legitimate criticism is made of Democrat welfare policies has been highly effective at shutting down debate, but it does nothing to change the reality of trans-generational welfare dependency.

Consider this case from the even more welfare-blighted UK, where a man hasn’t worked in over twenty years, has fathered somewhere between 18-27 illegitimate children by multiple mothers, his children and grandchildren are also on welfare and living with him, and the local welfare office is trying to figure out how to get him a larger house to accommodate them all.

None of the children who are of working age have jobs and Mr Rolfe says he relies instead on state handouts like housing benefit and child tax credit to get by.

‘Getting a larger house would mean the world to us. It would mean we could get some peace  and space.’He said: ‘I hate to see the children have no space, no privacy. They have nowhere to do their homework so they are doing badly at school.’

Incredibly, Mr Rolfe successfully complained to the Local Government Ombudsman that the property, which he moved into in September 2011, was too small.

In the past, this man would have been called a bum, and no self-respecting woman would have given him the time of day. But thanks to progressive welfare programs, not only is his irresponsibility and promsicuity subsidized by taxes confiscated from those who made better choices; but he has also fathered and grandfathered two generations of children devoid of any work ethic, raised to think collecting welfare is normal.

If the state continues to subsidize bad decisions and punish good decisions, it should come as no surprise that people will make more bad decisions and fewer good decsions. This is truth; Or, as the progressive left calls it, ‘racism.’ Paul Ryan owed an apology to no one for saying it. And the fact that he backed down demonstrates how impossible it has become to turn the ship of state away from the unsustainable and disastrous course it is on.
