Mozilla CEO Brandon Eich has a political opinion that employees disagree with. Therefore, he must be punished.
Some employees at Mozilla, the non-profit organization behind the Firefox browser, are calling on new CEO Brendan Eich to resign.
Mozilla workers are upset with Eich because he supported Proposition 8 and donated to the politicians who backed it.
Prop 8 was a Californian ballot-proposition banning same-sex marriage. It was officially rejected in February 2012.
Those who have a different opinion than the Progressive Left must be punished… because tolerance.
Perhaps people should be forced to wear some sort of badge on their person to indicate incorrect thinking or association with an unpopular religion or political movement.
Ditto for their places of business… you could use a pink triangles for gays, a cross for Christians, Star of David for Jews, etc…
It would make it so much easier for lefties to isolate and destroy the enemies of progress so we could get on with the heaven-on-earth project.
Oh, wait… that’s been done already. Never mind.

Jim Geraghty (I think), writing about the demand by some on the left that climate deniers be jailed found it interesting that the left is upset with Jonah Goldberg’s term “liberal facism”.
What utterly astounds me is that the Supreme Court of California, in upholding Proposition 8, clearly stated that all it did was reserve the word “marriage” for heterosexuals who sought the license. All other rights were guaranteed under California law for gays, including inheritance, visitation, adoption, etc. In other words, they already HAD equality under the law in California, but it was not enough.
What they wanted was equivalence. Mental equivalence and approval, and dammit, they were going to FORCE it down the throats of those bigoted intolerant, hateful homophobes once and for all.
My suspicious is there are either 1) other elements at play, where disgruntled employees are digging up an “old issue”–but a hot-button that will get them exposure/leverage–to use against the CEO due to dissatisfaction regarding these other matter(s) or 2) there’s a lack of diversity in the workplace (i.e. qualified LGBT members aren’t being hired) felt by a sizable portion of the workforce and they’re calling attention to it in any manner they can to get their biased supervisor to make changes.
GP, why would you be for qualified LGBT workers being discriminated against and not hired?
OTF makes the leap that anyone who is against same sex married is homophobic. One can be supportive and welcoming to the LGBTQLMNY community and still be opposed to same sex marriage. My boss is a case in point. I have worked for him at 2 different companies for a period of almost 20 year. In 1993, when my partner and I were becoming our state’s first openly gay foster parent couple, there was a “threat” of our story being carried in our local liberal newspaper. He was completely supportive. When we were looking to become adoptive parents he gave me time off before the adoption to do out-of-state visitations. He gave me time off when the boys came to live with us (our company was exempt from mandatory family leave due to its small size). When my partner was injured and he needed me to be at home for 2 weeks, I got time off. None of these “bonus” times used up any of my very generous vacation allowance. However, my boss thinks same gender couples should have civil unions with all the same rights and benefits afford to married couples at both the state and federal levels. My boss also considers himself to be a die hard conservative.
OTF also makes the leap that Mr. Eich’s position on gay marriage also translates to discriminatory hiring practices. However, if one clicks on 2 links, one will read that this is not the case.
Yet another leftist that makes all kinds of leaps and bounds in the wrong direction when anyone disagrees with their personal set of beliefs. One only needs to read the other GP blog entries in the last few days to see just how symptomatic this is of the leftest thought process.
(see also : CNN stating they don’t cover state reps as a reason for not covering the Yee arrest. yet, CNN gave hours of coverage to state rep Davis and her stand on abortion.)
So, TnnsNe1 is arguing that the employees are digging up a six-year-old issue against their boss for sh1ts and giggles? If that’s the case, then this is very disappointing. And I apologize for my last post.
Some employees “feel that Eich’s decision to back Prop 8 goes against Mozilla’s core values as a company”. How can Mozilla (a corporation) have values but Hobby Lobby (a corporation) can not have values?
If I were CEO, I’d find a way to give these creeps the sack.
Diversity has come to mean diversity of skin color, sexual orientation, and genitalia with no tolerance for incorrect thinking. Remember Bill Clinton’s “Cabinet that looks like America”? Ignoring the superficial, skin color and genitals, his Cabinet looked like America only if America was a nation of rich lawyers and political players.
Liberal fascism.
Because we are Americans who believe in our Constitution and its guarantee of freedom of association.
Why do you think businesses should be forced to hire people based on their minority status?
The arrival of Brendan Eich has not been received well at Mozilla, with protests over a campaign donation to an anti-gay marriage lobby in California back in 2008.
Employees at the non-profit firm have urged Eich to step down from the CEO’s position.
In a blog post on Friday, the new boss claimed he was aware of “concerns about my commitment to fostering equality and welcome for LGBT individuals at Mozilla,” but pledged they were unfounded.
“I am committed to ensuring that Mozilla is, and will remain, a place that includes and supports everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, age, race, ethnicity, economic status, or religion,” he wrote.

@8: Rusty, doesn’t that have the faint aroma of WInston Smith’s self-denunciation in 1984?
People claim that their personal lives are their own business (true) and then demand to make their personal lives their employer’s business. I suppose that some corporate-speak blather about welcoming “diversity” make some people feel better.
Mozilla’s mission is to make the Web more open so that humanity is stronger, more inclusive and more just. This is why Mozilla supports equality for all, including marriage equality for LGBT couples. No matter who you are or who you love, everyone deserves the same rights and to be treated equally.

Rusty at #10, so Mozilla is going out of its way to hire polygamists?
This is the way a naïve 4 year old sees the world.
