The Race Question

The (needless to say) left-wing president of Western Washington University has put his finger on the biggest problem in higher education. And it isn’t ridiculously overpriced and ultimately worthless degrees, it’s… too many white people.

A school-wide questionnaire at Western Washington University (WWU) asked the community “How do we make sure that in future years ‘we are not as white as we are today?’”

The question, released through the communications and marketing department’s daily newsletterWestern Today, comes on the heels of admonishments given in multiple convocation addresses by WWU President Bruce Shepard for the university’s “failure” to be less white.

“Every year, from this stage and at this time, you have heard me say that, if in decades ahead, we are as white as we are today, we will have failed as university,” Shepard said in the 2012 speech.

So, here’s a picture of Bruce Shepard. Suffice it to say, Malik Shabazz he ain’t.

  1. I will be so happy to get this president out of office. His inspiration to constantly demean the country’s majority, is ongoing.

  2. I hadn’t thought of that angle; what is it with the left’s obsessive need to demean people of pallor?

  3. Good grief! I hope any white high school senior who had considered enrolling in Western Washington University reads its president’s reservations/feelings about white people. Please, kids, go where you are wanted.

  4. “Less White”?? **yikes**
Reminds me of the Leninist “…no worse traitor than a race class-traitor”-meme.

“From Admissions to our seven academic colleges to the Alumni Office, valuing diversity excellence, equity, and inclusion are central to Western Washington University’s mission. Western provides an atmosphere where students, faculty, and staff interact and engage in effective and courageous conversations, modeling a process of social development through civil discourse.”

    12% non-resident, including international students

  5. I disagree. Don’t give the WWU administration what they want, what they consider success. Don’t be afraid to go where you’re not wanted. Raise your voice and be heard. Get good grades, apply, get accepted, and contribute to their sense of failure. And don’t let fashionable edu-speak and trendy academic/social ideas represent an entire community. It’s actually a good school and B’ham is a nice town.

  6. Ignatius, that doesn’t cut it on college campuses today.

You bring up the fact that white women out perform every other group in universities with the exception of Asians, and every excuse in the book gets thrown at you, and you are OBVIOUSLY a racist if you think that black and hispanic men don’t study as hard.

The place where the mind is to be opened has opened so far that the brains have fallen out.

  7. White people are being marginalized. Let that sink in. And consider what tends to happen to marginalized groups.

  8. Yawn. If Western Washington University wants to embark on affirmatively actualizing some sort of pre-determined demographic mix, I am fine with that. I am fine with all sorts of schemes to socially engineer enclosed micro-environments according to the whims of scientology or the reading of crow crap and/or goat snot.

I am in favor of bakers refusing to bake wedding cakes for gays and gays refusing to hire a straight bar tender for the Gays After Five Club. It is all a market place and if Western Washington University can make their highly organized community competitive and viable, good on them. I would suggest that their formula, when established, apply to faculty, staff, administration and the grounds crew.

I am certain that their Progressive to Conservative balance is already well out of whack, so it would seem that their other “balance” concerns are not particularly useful in providing” an atmosphere where students, faculty, and staff interact and engage in effective and courageous conversations, modeling a process of social development through civil discourse.”

Western Washington University can be a liberal wet dream cleansed of any aspect of social justice guilt. For that, they should double the tuition.

  10. @Sean L., the same thing is being done to Christians. Again it must be asked, WHY DO WE KEEP PUTTING UP WITH THIS BULLSH*T? Why do we–white people, conservatives, Christians, and especially white, conservative Christians–keep sending our children to left-wing madrassas like WWU, not to mention the public schools, KNOWING WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO OUR KIDS?! Why do we keep feeding the beast? Why do we have such a passion to destroy ourselves?

  11. My goodness.

    Such victims here!

He didn’t say “get rid of whitie” he said “less white” meaning he wants to ensure that the diversity of america is represented on his campus.

Its possible he is afraid of an insular society. Segregation and segmentation are bad things – especially when it comes to education – and not conducive to brilliance.

  12. WHY DO WE KEEP PUTTING UP WITH THIS BULLSH*T??

    Comment by Seane-Anna — April 15, 2014 @ 10:21 pm

    There are many reasons.
    Cowardice is the first.

Just as the virtue of courage makes all other virtues possible, lack thereof (cowardice) makes all other virtues essentially impossible.

We suffer from a deficit of guts, and a surplus of spinelessness.

  13. Jman at #12, I think you nailed it. My second all caps question, then, would be: HOW DO WE GET A BACKBONE AGAIN?

    Comment by Seane-Anna — April 15, 2014 @ 11:54 pm - April 15, 2014

  14. And mike at #11, would you be so understanding if an NBA coach said his team was too black and if it stayed that way it would be a failed team? Be honest.

  15. I’d say that any institution of higher learning that offers any degree with the word ‘studies’ in it has ‘failed as a university’.

  17. HOW DO WE GET A BACKBONE AGAIN?

    Comment by Seane-Anna — April 15, 2014 @ 11:54 pm

    My guess:

When circumstances become so critical and so dire that people’s very existence is threatened.
And even at that point, many people will still not find a way to summon it (courage). Their continued existence will be made possible by others who can and do summon it on their behalf and in their defense or…sayonara.
That appears to be the pattern throughout history, unfortunately.

    Comment by JMan1961 — April 16, 2014 @ 12:57 am - April 16, 2014

  18. He didn’t say “get rid of whitie” he said “less white” meaning he wants to ensure that the diversity of america is represented on his campus.

    LOL.

White people are part of the diversity of America.

Since he doesn’t want white people, wants to deny white people opportunities, and wants to get rid of white people on his campus, he’s a racist and ANTI-diversity.

Its possible he is afraid of an insular society. Segregation and segmentation are bad things – especially when it comes to education – and not conducive to brilliance.

    Comment by mike — April 15, 2014 @ 11:28 pm – April 15, 2014

As we can see from you, “mike”; you and your fellow racist Obama supporters deliberately discriminate against groups like Asians and whites, and as a result, make very stupid and uneducated statements.

Perhaps you can show us your intellectual prowess and provide exact mathematical ratios for “diversity”. Indeed, I would love for a “progressive”, just once, to actually quantify “diversity”. Does anyone think that “mike” can actually do so, or is it more likely that “mike” will just demagogue and scream that there are too many white people?

    Comment by North Dallas Thirty — April 16, 2014 @ 12:58 am - April 16, 2014

  19. mike, it says, as someone pasted their demographics above, that 22% of the student body is ‘of color’. The president said he wanted it representative of the nation at large. If I remember correctly, people of color make up what..11-13% of the population? The guy is a racist nincompoop.

    Comment by Annie — April 16, 2014 @ 1:34 am - April 16, 2014

  20. “The guy is a racist nincompoop.”

Fine, I am not saying he is not, i never met the guy. I am just saying stop crying Victim here. This is hardly a big deal..

#14 – Surly you can see the dif between a professional sports team and an educational institution.
But to follow your analogy, I would have no problem if a coach said we need more Euro players, or Brazilian players or something of that nature if he/her explained why their style of ball would make his/her team field a better product compared to other teams.

    Comment by mike — April 16, 2014 @ 2:12 am - April 16, 2014

  21. Oh, mike, bless your little troll heart.

You know EXACTLY what was meant, just like you know exactly how it would have been reported by the media had perhaps the NBA said it needed to ensure “we are not as black as we are today.”

But keep shilling and lying, those are the pillars of strength of the Left after all.

    Comment by acethepug — April 16, 2014 @ 6:02 am - April 16, 2014

  22. It’s a pretty lazy troll. Point out that the left is doing something stupidly PC, and instead of addressing the PC stupidity, whine that pointing out the PC stupidity is “victimhood.” It’s a lazy non sequitur… like most leftist argument.
