Mohammedan Cabdrivers Doing What Christian Bakers Are Not Allowed to Do

In Cleveland, some cab-drivers are refusing to take fares from the airport… because billboards advertising the Gay Games are offensive to them.

Some drivers of the zone-based taxis operating out of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport have notified their companies they don’t want to drive the cabs for religious reasons, citing rooftop placards that are advertising the upcoming Gay Games.

Hopkins released a statement saying that two of the three taxi companies operating at the airport — Ace and Yellow Taxi – were informed by several of their drivers they will no longer participate in the airport’s dedicated taxi cab program.

Patrick Keenan, general manager for the third company, Americab, said two of his drivers also have opted not to drive because of the Gay Games ads. The drivers are Muslims, Keenan and Hopkins spokeswoman Jackie Mayo said.

So … Mohammedan cabdrivers can refuse to carry passengers, blind passengers with guide dogs, or people who bought alcohol… “because Islam forbids”… and we have to respect their religious rights, otherwise racism.

But… Christian photographers, bakers, and florists can be forced to participate in gay weddings that they object to… because the gay “right” not to be offended by someone else’s disapproval trumps their religious liberty.

And… Mozilla can be forced by the gay mob to fire their CEO because he once donated money to oppose gay marriage, because that’s just a corporation acting on its principles.

But… Hobby Lobby is not allowed to refuse to pay for abortion-inducing drugs for its employees, because corporations are not people, and so have no right to put their principles into policy.

It all makes perfect sense when it’s explained that way, doesn’t it?

  1. You forgot to add that the Mozilla CEO was unfit to serve as CEO for having the same position on gay marriage at the same time as Obama who was elected CEO of the USA, twice.

  2. Put another nickel in the old JoeBiden Gaff-o-lin:

    • “let me say to those ‘quote survivors’……

    • “you have survived and you have soared.”

    • “It was worth it.”

Man, oh man. It is a great kindness that he didn’t go on to chat about the ‘quote dead people’ who ‘cashed in’ and lie moldering in their graves. But, then, maybe it was worth it for all the people who lost lives, loved ones, limbs, etc. They got to see and hear JoeBiden do his schtick, except for the dead ones. God, bless ’em. My dad used to say, “Joey, the dead ones don’t survive.”

  4. Also, Moslems cab drivers here in DC have refused to pick up unescorted women from Reagan Airport. A woman friend of mine was called an “abomination” and left standing at the curb.

  5. It’s easier to bully somebody when you don’t have to worry about them blowing up your car. If Christians crucified anybody who insulted them, do you think liberals would better than they do Muslims? Food for thought.

  6. That’s because Christians aren’t part of the “brown minority” like Muslims are.

  9. V, I’m curious…why “Mohammedan”? (It’s fair enough; just a little unusual nowadays compared to “Muslim”. Are you bringing it back? 🙂 )

  10. Not speaking for V, but for EssEm, I use it because that’s what Westerners (aka White Christians) called them for centuries before the PC police decided that every single term we had for The Other had to be “re-freshed.” Then we had to stop saying Moslem and say Muslim, etc.

For the same reason, I never use the hyphenated “X-American” thing. I talk about Whites, Blacks, Hispanics and Indians. If people can control how you talk, they control how you think.

  11. Last summer I played tennis with an extreme lefty (based upon the huge amount of Obama/Liberal bumper stickers on his car). When he messed up a shot, he kept saying, “Oh my God!”

After a bit, when I messed up a shot, I said, “Oh my Allah!”

He stopped play, called me to the net and told me that it was disrespectful. I reminded him that taking the Lord’s name in vain was equally disrespectful. He told me it was different. I asked him why. His response, “It just is. Let’s play.”

We resumed play. After several attempts to contact him to play another match, I never heard from him.

[…] Muslim Cabdrivers Refuse Cleveland Airport Fairs Because of Upcoming Gay Games … If Ali Hadji YabbaDabbaDo Kaboomy were a Christian baker of wedding cakes, store owner and self professed supporter of hetero-sexual marriage or, CEO of Mozilla and contributor to anti-gay propositions I am guessing only then would they be forced to transport the Gay Gamers? 15. Get with the program, guys and gals. The western elites have decided to surrender our nations and our culture to Islam. I’m not smart enough to know what’s in it for them but for the rest of us, it won’t work out well.

As Mark Styen observed re the scandalously pusillanimous move by Brandeis towards Ayaan Hirsi Ali (someone who actually risks her life for what she believes), Islam trumps everything else. The worm president of Brandeis needs to turn in his “man card”… Ms Ali has bigger stones than most of the “men” in the American Academy.

I highly recommend Mark Steyn’s latest on where cultures go to die:

  16. But Muslims are perfect, never ever commit a crime, and therefore, as an oppressed minority, they can whatever they please. Can’t those right wing Republicans and gays are abhorrent and should be eradicated from the face of the Earth. That is what is stated in the perfect Koran.

  17. Are you guys sure that this is actually about discrimination which benefits Muslims? The florist and baker all were fairly small shops which didn’t have the capacity to both not discriminate against gays and protect the religious conscience of their employees. Is there any reason why photography companies and bakers cannot operate in a similar way: making sure there are enough bakers or photographers that they can send someone who is okay with photographing a gay wedding when they are asked?

Of course this does mean that people who want to have freedom of conscience are essentially banned from starting businesses or even working for small ones. So these solutions won’t really satisfy people…

  18. A. I guess I just like words that have fallen out of common usage. Also, “Mohammadan” probably offends the PC Police with actually being a racial slur; so, win-win.

  19. In re “Mohammadan” — the official reason many Musulmans object to the term is that it gives the impression that they worship Mohammad as a man-god, by analogy with “Christ-ian”. (Golly, why on earth would anyone ever get the impression that they consider Mo-Ho a deity?)

And, obviously, equating Mohammad with Allah constitutes the heresy of shirk (“idolatry; polytheism”).

Needless to say, since the Qur’an EXPLICITLY says that Jesus was not God or the Son of God, and also that Jesus was never even crucified, let alone resurrected (but Jews were nonetheless to blame for the crucifixion that didn’t happen), it doesn’t seem to me that Muslims have much grounds for whinging that “Mohammadan” implicitly misrepresents their theology.

On the other hand, it’s not total BS like claiming that Moslem is somehow a “less respectful spelling” than Muslim.

  20. the Qur’an EXPLICITLY says that Jesus was not God or the Son of God

Although the Koranic “Issa” has not much at all in common with the New Testament “Jesus,” and virtually nothing from the NT account is contained in the Alcoran, the loaves-and-fishes miracle DOES appear (more or less) in chapter/sura 5, known as “The Feast.”

However, this miraculous dinner from heaven is related primarily as an excuse for “Jesus” to kvetch to “God” that people are falsely attributing the miracle to him (Issa), when in fact he had nothing to do with it, it was entirely worked by Allah, and gosh how awful is it that sinful people have mistaken Issa for a Deity or a son thereof.

  21. Also, I’m reminded of a late and lamented friend from another blog, whom V the K will remember as “Q” and “Solus Rex.”

He was a brilliant Russian-speaking immigrant and HILARIOUSLY contemptuous of the idea of respelling perfectly cromulent English words with long histories just to please pissy-ass speakers of Arabic or Mandarin or whatever.
