Illinois Democrats Want to Spend $100M on Temple to Obama

Every previous Presidential Library has been built with private funding. But, of course, the Unprecedented Mr. Obama is special, and Illinois Democrats have introduced a bill to put Illinois taxpayers on the hook for funding his.

Little-noticed out there in Springfield, the Democrat House Speaker John Madigan is pushing a bill now before his Democrat chamber to put up $100 million as good-faith money in the less-than sizzling competition to host the Barack Hussein ObamaCare Presidential Library and Clinic.

“It’s clearly a good investment for the future,” said Madigan after his obedient House Executive Committee unanimously endorsed the idea.

Personally, I find all these Presidential Libraries and Centers to be grotesque and imperial, not to mention offensive to the notion of Constitutional governance. I just don’t have the sociopathic narcissism in my psychological make-up to want or need the level of adulation presidents apparently need.

Did I mention that the state of Illinois is more or less fiscally bankrupt (like all of the other big blue states?) Even if they had $100M to spend, there are surely better ways to spend it than Building a Taj Mahal for the Lightbringer.

Why Do They Have to Go and Do This?

Why do the Militant Atheist Theophobes feel compelled to ruin every Christian holiday? There is definitely more going on here than simply not being convinced of the existence of a deity. There are plenty of things I don’t believe in … unicorns, leprechauns, vampires, the ObamaCare enrollment figures  … but I don’t make a fetish of constantly and loudly reminding people that I don’t believe in them. (Except for that last one, and it’s more a hobby than a fetish). Nor do I feel compelled to attack obsessively those who do. (Ditto).

So, anyway, the intolerant Theophobes at the Freedom From Religion Foundation insisted on posting this sign during Easter Week in the State Capitol of Wisconsin; because the thought of Christians celebrating a very important holiday without anti-Christians jeering at them was just… intolerable.

As some very wise guys once said, “Logic and reason aren’t enough: You also have to be a dick to everyone who doesn’t think like you.”

The Democrat Perspective on Domestic Terrorism

1. Nadal Hasan murders 14 people at Fort Hood While screaming “Allahu Akbar!” Not a terrorist.

2. American citizens come together and, without firing a shot, protect a Nevada rancher from Federal Agencies who assaulted his family, killed his cattle, and destroyed his equipment. These are the people Democrats consider “domestic terrorists.”

I am reasonably confident King George III considered George Washington, Patrick Henry, and Thomas Jefferson to be “domestic terrorists,” too.

UPDATE (from Jeff): V makes a great point about the Democrats’ penchant for calling their (political) opponents terrorists, which GP has before documented with links (e.g., here and here).

Basically, left-wing Democrats want an obtrusive Big Government, to pay for their lives/mistakes and to punish anyone whom they have ever envied. Someone who stands for traditional citizens’ liberties under a smaller, less oppressive Federal government will simply terrify them. And is, therefore and to them, “a terrorist”.

Bad Bullying Advice From Liberals

Short Version: If you’re going to be bullied anyway, you might as well kick back and enjoy it. Also, don’t report it when you’re bullied; bullies hate that.

Bloody Brilliant: Sean L’s comment that this code of conduct was inspired by Obama’s approach to foreign policy.

On the Progressive Left, Zero Tolerance for Free Speech

What with Brendan Eich being ousted from Mozilla for not agreeing with the Progressive Left on gay marriage, university professors calling for “climate change deniers” to be thrown in prison for their heresies (Galileo Galilei would be having a good chuckle about that), and the University of Michigan and Brandeis University caving to Islamist demands not to let a feminist atheist critic of Islam speak on their campuses… it’s pretty clear the Progressive … and especially, the “Academic” … Left has adopted a Zero Tolerance policy for speech that falls outside their Dogma.

The brilliant Mark Steyn wrote a brilliant essay on the topic.

I heard a lot of that kind of talk during my battles with the Canadian ‘human rights’ commissions a few years ago: of course, we all believe in free speech, but it’s a question of how you ‘strike the balance’, where you ‘draw the line’… which all sounds terribly reasonable and Canadian, and apparently Australian, too. But in reality the point of free speech is for the stuff that’s over the line, and strikingly unbalanced. If free speech is only for polite persons of mild temperament within government-policed parameters, it isn’t free at all. So screw that. [Emphasis Mine]

But I don’t really think that many people these days are genuinely interested in ‘striking the balance’; they’ve drawn the line and they’re increasingly unashamed about which side of it they stand. What all the above stories have in common, whether nominally about Israel, gay marriage, climate change, Islam, or even freedom of the press, is that one side has cheerfully swapped that apocryphal Voltaire quote about disagreeing with what you say but defending to the death your right to say it for the pithier Ring Lardner line: ‘“Shut up,” he explained.’

By the way, a left-wing show business person who approvingly noted Mark Steyn’s defense of Free Speech was hammered for it by his fellow “tolerant” leftists.

Here’s how it is, my pretties. People who are confident that they can win an argument don’t insist that the other side not be allowed to argue.

Is Idiocracy Really Upon Us?

Almost a year ago, I began noting the similarities between the USA under President Barack Hussein (Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho) Obama and the cult movie Idiocracy. Now, somewhere behind me on the curve, others are beginning to notice. Also, Here… “10 Things Idiocracy Predicted That Are Already Happening.” Here’s a sampling:

  • Scientists tell us the human race is actually becoming more stupid. It is estimated that average intelligence has dropped 14 points since the Victorian Era; primarily because, in the cradle-to-grave-welfare-state, intelligence is no longer an evolutionary benefit.
  • In the movie, “The English language had deteriorated to a hybrid of Hillbilly, Valley Girl, Inner-City slang, and various grunts.” That is certainly happening as text-speak invades conversational speak, crude idiots pepper every sentence with the f-word, the VPOTUS describes passage of terrible legislation as a “BFD”, and yesterday, the president of a Labor Union described the potential presidential candidacy of Sen. Elizabeth Warren as “It don’t get no better than this.
  • Entertainment consists primarily of Television shows about dumb people humiliating themselves. Tell me there’s an intellectual difference between “Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo” and “Ow! My Balls.” And in our present day, we have newscasts about …. very stupid people who claim to have seen a leprechaun.
  • Pepsi has released a Mountain Dew product spiked with “Electrolytes.” (That’s kind of a major Idiocracy plot point.)

It now makes perfect sense that elections are decided on the basis of one candidate accusing another of wanting to outlaw tampons, why campaigns are devoid of ideas and heavy on accusations of racism, and how our political leadership can make the decision that borrowing and printing limitless amounts of money is good economic policy.

I am just wondering how long evolution is going to put up with this.
