Obama Bypasses Congress; Releases Terrorists from GITMO

The good news is that Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl is being released by the Taliban after almost five years in captivity. That is good news.

However, in order to secure his release, Obama released five terrorists from GITMO described as “the worst of the worst.”  According to the Pentagon, there is an extremely high likelihood that the release terrorists will unleash new attacks.

Also, Obama violated US Law that requires Congress to be notified before terrorists are released from the prison complex at Guantanamo Bay. But then, Obama has firmly established that laws do not apply to him, and it is very, very racist to point out his lawlessness.

Obama needed the PR boost; the VA scandal has been kicking him in the pants for the past week.

And there is considerable debate in military circles whether Bergdahl was a prisoner or a deserter.

People are going to die because of this trade.

There’s an American Marine being held in a Mexican prison in Tijuana after accidentally crossing the border with legally owned guns. Obama isn’t lifting a finger to help Sergeant Tahmooressi.

I can’t help but think if a Russian Marine were being held in a prison in just over the border, Putin would send in Spetznatz and get that situation straightened out in a hurry.

How a Progressive Leftist says “I’m too cheap to tip.”

The FedGov Funding Vital, Important Research

The Federal Government — which Democrats insist is operating at peak efficiency and can’t be cut by even one dollar — is spending nearly $200K to find out how transgenderoids use Facebook.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is spending nearly $200,000 to study how transgender women use social networking sites like Facebook and how their use affects their chances of getting HIV.

The Friends Research Institute, based in Maryland, received $194,788 last month to begin the project operating on the premise that due to “transphobia” transgendered women are forced to use social media as an outlet, often leading to risky sexual behaviors.

Apparently, even though it’s been known and taught for the last thirty years how not to catch the HIV, Uncle Sugar is still a sucker for a liberal researcher with an HIV sob story.

[The Institute’s Lead Researcher, Dr. Cathy] Reback was one of the first researchers to discover that gay men engage in sexually risky behaviors while high on methamphetamine.

Whoa! Take that Crick and Watson!

Watching Detroit Succumb to Entropy

Follow-Up to Jeff’s Post, the website GooBing Detroit provides a fascinating document of the decay of America’s most liberal city (five decades of left-Democrat rule). By comparing streetviews from 2009 to 2013, you can see the city decay before your eyes.

This is actually the most encouraging thing I have seen in some time. If the host is dying the parasites will have to leave in search of a more robust host. (I understand New York and California have VERY generous welfare systems.) As Detroit declines and the parasites leave, there is a chance for Michigan to become less progressive-socialist and more friendly to free markets and self-reliance.

Faster, please.

Is the Men’s Rights Movement a Reaction to Deranged Feminist Misandry?

Feminists are blaming the Men’s Rights Movement for the murders committed by psycho whackjob Elliot Rodger in San Diego; primarily on the basis that wedging Rodger into the “War on Women” narrative is useful to the feminist left’s agenda; and admitting that he was a deranged sociopath is not. A typical, albeit mild, response is from the Washington Post’s Caitlin Dewey.

Rodger’s misogynistic rhetoric seems undeniably influenced by the manosphere, and his manifesto has kicked off a loud debate about how modern society treats women, online and off. If there was ever a time to take a closer look at online misogyny, it’s now.

I am reminded of a Biblical passage relating to motes and beams. The fact is that before there was a Man’s Movement, there was a women’s movement. And the Women’s Movement has produced some extremely hate-filled feminist rhetoric that is widely embraced by the progressive left.

  • “I feel that ‘man-hating’ is an honourable and viable political act, that the oppressed have a right to class-hatred against the class that is oppressing them.”  – Robin Morgan, Ms. Magazine Editor
  • “To call a man an animal is to flatter him; he’s a machine, a walking dildo.”  -– Valerie Solanas
  • “I want to see a man beaten to a bloody pulp with a high-heel shoved in his mouth, like an apple in the mouth of a pig.” — Andrea Dworkin
  • “Rape is nothing more or less than a conscious process of intimidation by which all men keep all women in a state of fear” — Susan Brownmiller
  • “The more famous and powerful I get the more power I have to hurt men.” — Sharon Stone
  • “The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race.” — Sally Miller Gearhart
  • “All men are rapists and that’s all they are” — Marilyn French

And there is more. Much, much more. It’s not limited to a few websites at the back of the internet; deranged feminist misandry permeates academia, politics, and pop culture. Entire cable networks like Lifetime and Oxygen are devoted to spreading the message that men are terrible. Womyn’s studies programs exist at every major university. A feminist professor or politician can express the idea that the world would be better off without men and be praised as a visionary, but let a man say the same thing about women and he’s branded a hater and bigot.

Is it a surprise that after decades of feminist man-bashing that some men would start to push back?

Progressive leftists want there to be two sets of rules; one set that lets them silence and stigmatize those whom they disagree with, and another to let them express their hatred in any vile terms they choose.

What they should do, is start counting hookers & blow

Despite trillions in economic “stimulus” which have pushed the stock market to record highs, the U.S. economy officially shrank by 1% in the first quarter.

Real gross domestic product — the output of goods and services produced by labor and property located in the United States — decreased at an annual rate of 1.0 percent in the first quarter according to the “second” estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis…

The GDP estimate released today is based on more complete source data than were available for the “advance” estimate issued last month.

If second quarter GDP does the same, the economy will officially be in a recession.

But surely the problem isn’t with the economy? Now in its fifth “summer of recovery” – yes fifth, so there! – and with the official unemployment rate dropping, surely the economy is fine?

The problem must be that our government officials aren’t measuring GDP correctly. After all, truth is a social construct, right? Just rig the GDP counting methods until officials produce a number that “proves” the economy is growing, and have President Obama declare it’s true, and it will be true.

They did things that way in 2013. For example, when Obama simply declared that his irresponsible budget proposal was “fiscally responsible”. Or when they suddenly declared the GDP to be $550 billion higher after deciding that GDP should include future government pension promises, money lost on failed movies, and so forth.

Italy gets the idea. Italy will start to count cocaine sales, prostitution and smuggling as part of their GDP.

The UK is also working on it. Contribution of drug dealers and prostitutes to the UK economy boosted GDP by £10bn according to estimates.

For the first time official statisticians are measuring the value to the UK economy of sex work and drug dealing – and they have discovered these unsavoury hidden-economy trades make roughly the same contribution as farming.

You see? In this modern world, when a hooker helps a Kennedy get to sleep at night, she contributes as much to national wealth as a farmer growing food for someone’s table.

Obama needs to get on this (so to speak). That way, The Party can prove that the economy is always growing. /sarc

Obama Administration Seeks to Designate LGBTQXYZ Landmarks

Pandering to its gay left base once again, the Obama Administration is tasking the National Park Service to begin designating “places and people of significance to the history of lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual Americans.”

Some places to consider:

  • The DC condo where Barney Frank’s boyfriend ran a prostitution ring.
  • The airport stall where Senator Larry Craig displayed his “wide stance.”
  • The New Jersey rest area where Governor Jim McGreevey hooked up with strangers for anonymous gay sex.
  • Man’s Country.

Who Elected Michelle Obama School Lunch Czar?

One of Michelle Obama’s policy initiatives as FLOTUS has been to enforce national school lunch standards that comply with the current nutritional fads of the leftist aristocracy; because public schools must… must … be directed what to feed children from Washington DC; otherwise those ignorant yahoos out in flyover countries would probably be serving kids lunches consisting of Twinkies and cigarette butts.

Don’t you understand… only bureaucrats employed by the Federal Government … under the direction of a lawyer elected to nothing and with no background in nutrition … can decide what kids should eat! It is a vital prerogative of National Government, you guys!

Like any top-down, socialistic, centralized Federal Government program, the results have been costly and have made things worse for everybody involved.

Republicans in Congress – who tend to have more faith than liberals when it comes to trusting people in the Heartland to manage their own lives – have proposed letting schools opt out of the Michelle Obama Food Dictates. But the First Lady is digging in. No matter how horrible the results, nothing the Obamas force on the country may be undone. (See also, Obamacare). The Obamas know what’s best for everyone, don’t you understand?

Leftists defend the horrible program, and claim that those who oppose do so because… well, guess why.

“She [Mrs. Obama] also, perhaps unwittingly, brought herself face-to-scowling-face with the clique of Americans who not only hate her husband (and by extension her) but who think “liberty” means that they must be able to eat and drink anything they damn well please.”

Freedom. Horrible, horrible freedom is something the left just cannot abide. Someone, somewhere might make a choice a leftist disagrees with.

Update: Jonah Goldberg suggests the school lunch dust-up is a squirrel to distract attention from the contracting economy.

Carl DeMaio is an openly gay Republican running for Congress from the completely enlightened and tolerant state of California. Last night, his campaign offices were burglarized and vandalized.

A break-in at the campaign headquarters of a California Republican congressional candidate on Wednesday has left behind a wreckage of smashed computers and cut cords only six days before the primary.

“Almost every cord inside the entire office – phone cords, communications, network cords, power cords – appears to have been cut,” Dave McCulloch, DeMaio’s campaign communications director, said to NBC San Diego.

Previously, the tolerant and enlightened California Democrats distributed campaign literature photoshopping DeMaio’s face onto the body of a drag queen.

Gay Marriage Extremists Launch Intimidation Campaign Against Pro-Gay Marriage Professor

Douglas Laycock is a law professor at the University of Virginia, a supporter of gay marriage, but also a supporter of religious liberty. Therefore, he is now the target of an intimidation and harassment campaign from the intolerant gay left.

An outfit called GetEQUAL (led by its co-director Heather Cronk) has launched a national e-mail campaign attacking Laycock for his role in shoring up the legal arguments of those who support what it calls “religious bigotry.”

GetEQUAL has also recruited a University of Virginia law student (Greg Lewis) and an alum (Stephanie Montenegro) to send an open letter to Laycock asking him to consider the “real-world consequences that [his] work is having.” And they have submitted a Freedom of Information Act request seeking e-mails between Laycock and various right-wing and religious liberty groups.

Laycock has apparently committed the unforgivable Thoughtcrime of valuing religious liberty and freedom over the oh-so-delicate feelings of … I’m just going to say it… pansies. (Not used as a pejorative against their sexuality, but against their mewling, whiny, complete lack of emotional strength.)

I think it would be really constructive for him to hear how his work is being used to hurt the LGBTQ community. I don’t think he has any ill intent. I think he’s very thoughtful and moderate, and willing to hear both sides. But I think that everyone really has a lot to learn.

The Gay Leftist Thought Police are just echoing the anti-freedom of conscience attitude of Washington Post Columnist Johnathan Capehart.

[T]olerance, no, is not – it should not be a two-way street. It’s a one-way street. You cannot say to someone that who you are is wrong, an abomination, is horrible, get a room, and all of those other things that people said about Michael Sam, and not be forced — not forced, but not be made to understand that what you’re saying and what you’re doing is wrong.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech… except when gay people’s feelings are hurt.”– The 1st Amendment as construed in the Age of Obama.

This is rich in iron(y):

Secretary of State John Kerry escalated his criticism of Edward Snowden, calling him a “coward” and a “traitor,” and saying that the NSA document leaker should return to the United States from Russia and “make his case.”

“Edward Snowden is a coward, he is a traitor and he has betrayed his country,” Kerry said in an interview on MSNBC’s “The Daily Rundown” with Chuck Todd. “And if he wants to come home tomorrow to face the music, he can do so.”

The point in itself may have merit; we can discuss. But for fun, let’s remember some points about Kerry. The following conclusions have been either proven, or at least well-indicated as likely, by eyewitness testimony and other evidence: (more…)

Strange Bedfellows

Is far-left radical Democrat Luis Guttierez helping Republican (in name only) Eric Cantor hold onto to his House seat against an aggressive primary challenger?

Probably.

I’m late to this story but Mickey Kaus and David Steinberg are all over it. You know the background here: Eric Cantor, who’s been on the outs with House conservatives lately and who’s championed immigration reform for DREAMers for more than a year, is suddenly facing a surprisingly tough primary challenge in Virginia from Dave Brat, who’s attacked him for being soft on amnesty. How tough? Tough enough that Cantor recently ran away from Jeff Denham’s ENLIST Act for DREAMers despite having expressed support for it before. Tough enough that he’s now aired not one but two ads in his district attacking Brat by name, something a well-known incumbent is naturally loath to do against a little-known challenger unless he fears he’s in trouble. Tough enough, even, that Cantor’s team sent out a mass mailer to voters celebrating him as a, er … stalwart amnesty opponent.

Coincidentally, Democrat Luis Gutierrez, the House’s most vocal immigration champion, decided that today would be a perfect time to visit Virginia and protest Cantor for being such a hard-ass on amnesty. Which is funny because, as both Kaus and Steinberg note, Cantor and Gutierrez were part of a House delegation that toured America for three days last year to celebrate — ta da — immigration. They are, in other words, both committed to this cause. And if the cause requires them to pretend to be enemies temporarily in the name of protecting Cantor’s seat, so be it.

If I may make an observation, Establishment Republicans are claiming they have to pass Amnesty in order to make themselves more electorally competitive with Hispanic voters. And partisan Democrats are saying, “Let us help you with that.”

Global Warming Causes Infidelity

Global Warming would be considered a threat to public morals, if there were any longer such a thing as public morals.

A new report blames global warming for rising rates of infidelity, especially bad news for couples in Miami, where rising tides and raging hurricanes remind us all how much extracurricular sex we could be having on a daily basis.

Victoria Milan, a dating website for people looking to cheat on their significant other, surveyed 5,000 of its members, both men and women. A shocking 72% of them responded that yes, their own Al Gore-esque stress about unpredictable weather is the cause of their extra-marital dalliances. Guess the fact of their existing committed relationships was just an inconvenient truth.

Survey respondents also reported that they’re more likely to sneak a little on the side in hot weather than in cold.

Obama Arrives at West Point with an Army of Straw Men

Filed under: Obama Arrogance,Post 9-11 America

In light of the VA scandal and the announcement of a unilateral withdrawal from Afghanistan, President Obama felt the need to appear “pro-military” and so gave the commencement address to the military academy at West Point.

Obama is a master in the use of the straw man argument. He attributes outrageous positions to his opponents, so as to make his own positions appear reasonable. Usually, is the formulation “Some say we should wipe out the entire state of Nebraska with a series of carpet bombings and nuclear strikes. But I believe the smarter option is to not build the Keystone XL pipeline.”

His speech at West Point, which of course was not written by him, was replete with examples of the genre.

For the foreseeable future, the most direct threat to America at home and abroad remains terrorism. But a strategy that involves invading every country that harbors terrorist networks is naive and unsustainable.

No one has ever advocated invading every country that harbors terrorists.

“I would betray my duty to you, and to the country we love, if I sent you into harm’s way simply because I saw a problem somewhere in the world that needed fixing, or because I was worried about critics who think military intervention is the only way for America to avoid looking weak.”

No one has suggested that the USA’s foreign policy should be based on intervening everywhere for the sake of not appearing week.

“Of course, skeptics often downplay the effectiveness of multilateral action. For them, working through international institutions, or respecting international law, is a sign of weakness. I think they’re wrong.”

Again, “unnamed skeptics” oppose multilaterialism and following international law.

“Those who argue otherwise – who suggest that America is in decline, or has seen its global leadership slip away – are either misreading history or engaged in partisan politics.”

Or they’re just paying attention. Obviously, the only people who note that Iran, Russia, and China have been emboldened by American weakness and fecklessness are only doing so for reasons of “partisan politics;” there is no such thing as legitimate, rational criticism of Mr. Obama’s flawless foreign policy.

Your charge now is not only to protect our country, but to do what is right and just.

Because until Obama came along, what the military did was wrong and unjust.

The man is not only a megalomaniac and a narcissist, he’s also a tedious bore.

Richard Martinez Is Becoming the New Cindy Sheehan

The father of one of the UCSB murder spree victims is turning his grief into a rallying cry for gun confiscation; much as Cindy Sheehan made her grief into a rallying cry against George W. Bush. I expect before long, Mr.Richard Martinez will be sleeping in a ditch outside a politician’s house.

Mr. Martinez turned a Memorial Service for the victims into a Paul-Wellstonesue political rally; leading the crowd into chanting a gun control slogan. He held a press conference during which he railed against politicians who support the 2nd Amendment and the NRA. He has since appeared on MSDNC (Lawrence O’Donnell and Morning Joe), CNN (Anderson Cooper), The Washington Post granted him space to vent without any counterpoint. And other MFM outlets are lining up to broadcast his grief and rage to the widest possible audience.

The MFM have been eager to give him an outlet to display his grief for public consumption and advancement of the agenda; exactly the way they didn’t for the parents of Tyrone Woods and Sean Smith who were murdered in Benghazi by Mohammedan Terrorist while the president sat back and did nothing to help them. In fact, to the left, four murders in Benghazi have become one of their favorite jokes. I guess Benghazi wasn’t really tragic because it couldn’t be exploited to advance The Agenda.

One can’t fault him for his grief; even if his chosen means of expressing it seems craven and political. But he has no more right to take away anyone’s 2nd Amendment rights because of what happened to his son than the parent of someone killed by a drunk driver has the right to take away everybody’s car.

Detroit may spend $800 million to tear down homes

This goes to the essence of mainstream economic theory: Spend money to build houses, spend money to tear them down, spend money to build them, spend money to tear them down…and let it all be counted in the GDP numbers as “growth” and “jobs”:

One of the question haunting Detroit, as it works to extricate itself from bankruptcy, is how to address the reality of the city’s shrinking population…Today, a much-anticipated report from the city’s Blight Removal Task Force says that more than one in five structures is in some state of disrepair—and that about half of these should be torn down immediately…

It can take as little as three hours to demolish a house, but the process can be more consuming if properties contain asbestos or lead, thereby requiring extra care. Tearing down homes by the tens of thousands, which hasn’t been done before, could cost about $800 million, the report says. While the city has already obtained some blight-reduction funding from federal and state sources, it still needs at least a further $400 million. (That doesn’t include the additional $1 billion or so Detroit will need to address commercial and industrial eyesores.)

It’s astounding that, in a nation where homes are unaffordable for many people and the home ownership rate is declining, Detroit is still so unlivable and badly-run a place that they have vast numbers of homes to tear down.

Conservative = Not Crazy

According to Adam Carolla:

“I always thought of myself as just a liberal guy,” Carolla said. But after working with and observing Dr. Drew Pinsky, Carolla says he started spreading what he thought was a simple, apolitical message.

“I just started saying, ‘focus on your family, take care of your kids,’” Carolla explained. “And then all of a sudden, I become Ted Nugent like overnight.”

“It’s a weird thing that this has become a conservative, right-wing issue,” he continued. “Take care of your G-d damn kids? Feed your kids? Educate your kids? These are radical right-wing ideas?”

Carolla also says he knows how to fix what ails America.

“I believe that we could fix this country and all that ails it in one second if everyone just literally internalized,” he said. “Don’t expect anybody, especially the government, to do anything for you.”

The guano-craziness coming from the Progressive Left also supports his case.

Four Reasons Republicans Will Not Win the Senate in 2014

Republican fat-cats are feeling pretty good about themselves these days. They think their two greatests enemies — The Tea Party and Obama (in that order) — are on the ropes and that come January, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will preside over the Senate where Lindsey Graham and John McCain will be hard at work reaching across the aisle and making deals to pass the GOP Establishment’s top priority: Amnesty to swell the ranks of Democrat voters and replace Americans with cheap imported foreign labor.

I just don’t see it coming to pass; and my doubts may be a function of my complete and total disillusionment with the GOP, but there is also logic and reason to back up my feeling that crazy old Harry Reid will still be ranting about the Koch Brothers as majority leader come 2015. Here’s why:
