In her new book Gender Hurts, Sheila Jeffreys, a professor of sexual politics at the University of Melbourne, argues that transgenderism is damaging not because it is a devastating mental illness – although she admits the condition “is invariably born of severe psychological distress” – but because to acknowledge transgenderism is to admit that such a thing as gender exists in the first place.
It would resolve the progressive paradox that sexuality was innate but gender was a social construct. Or was it the other way around? I don’t know; and neither do they. None of that was based on actual science, anyway. Except the science of “feelings,” which isn’t an actual scientific discipline. In reality, the only things that should have genders are Latin nouns (and German nouns, and Russian nouns, I know). Male and females are sexes, not genders.
Alternately, maybe this is how lesbians justify their hatred of transgenderoids.
