Jeb Bush might just turn out to be the best Democrat candidate for 2016. Speaking to an audience in Florida, Bush expressed admiration for the architect of the Great Society and the Vietnam War.
He vowed to approach the presidency as “master of the Senate,” as biographer Robert Caro described Johnson.
“He went and he cajoled, he begged, he threatened, he loved, he hugged, he did what leaders do, which is they personally get engaged to make something happen,’’ Bush said of Johnson. Bush cited Caro’s latest book about Johnson, The Passage of Power, which covers the first part of Johnson’s presidency.
The wheeling and dealing Johnson loved and relished is what will be needed to pass bills such as immigration regulations. That process is also how government gets expanded and cronyism thrives, as Peter Schweizer’s nonpartisan Government Accountability Institute and directer Stephen K. Bannon documented in “Boomtown.”
Bush also admitted that he’s absolutely clueless as to why Americans don’t want to import millions of units of cheap foreign labor when there are tens of millions of Americans out of work and middle-class wages have been declining.
“For the life of me I have a hard time understanding why people are fearful of our own heritage, our own history,” Bush reportedly said. “The rules are you come to this country, you pursue your dreams, you create value for yourself and your families and others and great things happens to you and to our country. Why would we ignore that at time when we need to restart and rejuvenate our economy? It makes no sense to me.”
Bush seems to believe that American workers don’t want to take care of their families, don’t want to pursue their dreams, and don’t want to participate in the economy.
Jeb has such a smarmy bias towards Illegals, that it makes me wonder if he comprehends the rule of law, immigration law & border security. Unless someone wants to systematically deport illegals back to where they belong, the status quo is just fine. If Illegals want to remain 2nd class people in the US in a shadow culture, that’s just fine. There is no such a thing as “deserving American citizenship”. Those that subscribe to this mindset, devalue my citizenship. Jeb has a politically liberal, bordertown mindset. That’s not conservative.
How is that? It seems to me that many non-Americans, those who understand and appreciate how unique and superior to other legal systems the US Constitution is, “deserve” American citizenship more than many Americans (those who take for granted what kinds of legal protections they have as individuals or wish to subvert them). What country one happens to be born in doesn’t imply how much they deserve oppression at the hands of the government. Everyone is entitled to have their natural rights recognized and protected at the point of their conception, regardless of which citizenship they inherit at birth.
Clearly, illegal immigrants have yielded their right to such protections, since they have already attempted to subvert the rule of law. I’m not even saying I “deserve” American citizenship (as someone who wasn’t born an American citizen). All I can do is to work through the channels available to attain American citizenship when and if I decide to try to do so, and then surely the respect I have for the US Constitution (as opposed to the respect, or lack thereof, for the US Constitution that is shown by half the country) would be worth something.
Oh.
I am delighted that the people Jeb is gushing over are such productive, economy rejuvenating dreamers. We have much more than a full load of entitlement recipients for Jeb’s rejuvenators to help carry without having any of them join the welfare club.
Illegal aliens are a huge drain on the US, whatever money the people that hire they save is lost on the benefits they suck up, even if they don’t commit fraud. Many hospitals along the border had to close their ERs because illegals cost them too much. Illegal alien drunk drivers kill more Americans in 2 weeks than rifles do in a year. Illegals can squat in someone’s house and leftists will fight against having them evicted. I lost a LTR boyfriend to an illegal alien drunk driver.
OK – I’ll say it. Jeb Bush is too
stupidobtuse to be president. It’s possible to be high-functioning and to be as dumb as soup at the same time. The Bushes seem to have that quality.
I fail to understand why we have to reward law breaking (coming into the country illegally, or staying older). There used to be a principle in law that one should not be able to profit from one’s crime. That should apply here as well.
To those who come here (and stay) legally, I say “Welcome; God bless you; and I hope you do well.” To the illegals and their also illegally brought in children, “Please go home and come in the legal way.”
Yes, because all those people sitting around raking in welfare because it’s better than getting a job are just itching to get employed and start paying taxes!
Long story short, there is a labor shortage in the country, due at least in part to Americans who have decided that they would rather collect welfare and eat lobster once a week than work to get a paycheck. They have decided that many jobs are “beneath” them. Latinos do not deem those jobs to be beneath them. Those jobs need to get done. So if given a choice between the lazy and condescending American and the eager Latino, who are you going to hire?
I’m not in favor of full amnesty; that’s just dumb. I am, however, in favor of work visas. Because that way, we get to know where each and every illegal immigrant is in the country, and we get to know if, when, and where they break the law, so that we can deport their butts to the cesspools they came from.
Jeb Bush is clearly a shill for illegal immigration and followed by amnesty which begs the question:
Is his conflict of interest due to his wife? Did she come here illegally? If that is the case it would explain his compassion for those breaking into the country.
His statement for those breaking the laws in entering that it is ‘an act of love’ can not easily be explained other than that maybe his wife came to America that way.
The more that Jeb talks the less i like him. He should listen to mom. his admiration for LBJ, is troubling. Does he not know that in order to defeat Goldwater LBJ had to carry just about every cementary in the country? Also, he had sympathy votes for JFK. It was hard for Barry to campaign against a ghost.
