Universities Against Independent Thinking

May 20, 2014 by V the K

The American system of higher education has become fundamentally anti-intellectual. Universities offer ridiculous courses on Lada Gaga and Tupac Shakur, entire majors are devoted to useless nonsense like Gender Studies, faculty demands that persons be jailed for holding unpopular opinions, student mobs keep politically incorrect speakers off-campus. Too add to the anti-intellectual atmosphere of the contemporary American campus, there is now a demand that teaching materials contain warning labels advising of politically offensive content.

“Trigger warnings” are the latest crusade on campus, reports the NYT. Students at prominent colleges and universities have been campaigning to force professors to warn students of potentially disturbing or offensive content in the course materials they assign. That could include everything from a violent movie to the anti-Semitic Merchant of Venice. The NYT:

The warnings, which have their ideological roots in feminist thought, have gained the most traction at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where the student government formally called for them. But there have been similar requests from students at Oberlin College, Rutgers University, the University of Michigan, George Washington University and other schools.

Because college is the last place a person should have to be confronted with opinions or ideas that challenge them.

Used to be the committed Lefty-Commies were safely-corralled in the Philosophy Department, now they’ve taken over the entire hive asylum.

I feel sorry for for those students who harbor conservative values. They have to maintain silence for fear of reprisals, such as a failing grade from liberal professors, if they take issue with the professor. I’m glad that I attended religious universities, where there was give and take without fear.

I’m so glad I’m in the Science faculty where most people don’t seem to have time for this nonsense, at what seems to be a relatively conservative university where the biggest examples of leftist lunacy include “Israeli Apartheid Week” and something called the “Queer Centre.”

Rattlesnake what is the gay version of uncle Tom? You should do like the vice president of the local community college does and hold “safe space” sex parties at your house for the queer center guys too young to go out to the bars.

When I was in college I decided to do a speech on gay WWII hero Allen Turing. The gay fairy tale could be just cut and paste but I found the real version that just rang true about how he framed his underage ex boyfriend for robbery and was proven Turing framed him.

[W]hat is the gay version of uncle Tom?

    Auntie Mame.

    Sorry, couldn’t resist. 😉

Where did you find the “real version”, Steve, and when and where did you go to college?

Actually, don’t bother answering those questions, Steve, because I can tell you’re a lying troll who doesn’t even bother to do the most elementary background research before making up a lie.

I know this because Turing’s “boyfriend” Arnold Murray (who was 20 years younger than Turing, but not “underage”, and was not his “ex” since the pair had only known each other for maybe two weeks) was not charged with burglary and was never in the least bit of danger of being charged with burglary. The burglary was committed by some other acquaintance of Murray; it’s not clear what the burglar’s name was or whether he was ever charged, but BOTH Turing AND Murray were charged with “gross indecency” (i.e., male/male acts not including anal sodomy).

The age difference between 19-year-old Murray and 39-year-old Turing does tarnish Turing’s halo very slightly — perhaps such a smart man should’ve known better than to invite a near-stranger back to his house and bedroom even though the stranger was a Hot Twink. But that doesn’t justify YOU slandering Turing as a liar who tried to get his ex-boyfriend wrongfully arrested as a thief.

There are more than enough “fairytales” being spread by the Gay Left without the need for liars like you to invent examples of leftist fabrications just because you feel a need to suck up to gay conservatives.

And now, Steve, Go away and stop bothering us.

Throbert Turing’s boyfriend was 19 which was underage for UK at the time. Turing took a wine glass he knew the teenager drank out of to the cops with a fake story about how long he knew his boyfriend and the cops caught him about the time they knew each other and the fake crime scene had valuable items left. The boyfriend was not charged and was seen as the victim.

While it is not the info I had in college here is a queer site that states Turing faked the robbery thus proving himself a security risk.

Age of consent of the nation you are in is what matters Turings boyfriend was under the age of consent when they finally broke up. Congressmen Mendez was caught doing 14yo prostitutes in the Dominican Republic which turned out to be legal there right around the time Ted Cruz “ruined his career” By drinking water. Turing was offered a choice prison or chemical castration, his boyfriend had no punishment.

Actually, steve-o, it was Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) who gave the GOP Response to the SOTUS and sipped water during his speech.

But I guess to a racist like you, all brown-skinned people look alike.

And yes, I went there. Deal with it.
