In Iran, six people were arrested by the country’s Islamic Government for making a dance video and posting it to YouTube. The Government called the video “vulgar,” and “harmful to public chastity.”
In the USA, a misanthrope who has made himself wealthy and famous warning that Global Warming dooms us all called for all climate change skeptics to be jailed. His PBS Interviewer lamented that there weren’t enough prisons to house all the skeptics.
In Saudi Arabia, the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has sentenced five men to 32 years in prison and 4,500 lashes for celebrating Valentine’s Day.
In Pennsylvania, a group calling itself the “Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine” has begun a campaign to ban bacon from the local ballpark. In Connecticut, public schools are trying to ban chocolate milk in order to comply with the dictates of the First Lady of the United States.
Some people think the whole point of their lives is to deprive other people of joy; and they are invariably drawn to positions of power and government.
And now for something completely different.
The gay version.
What’s worse, David Suzuki calling for imprisonment of “deniers” or some professor in Austria calling for execution of “deniers” OR the fact that these people can make these statements without much, if any, blowback from the culture.
In sane times, these tyrant-wannabees would be denounced and shunned by decent people.
I used to wonder how tyrants like Hitler, Stalin, Castro, et al were able to assume power… the last few years have answered my question: it’s easy.
@ KCRob: Of course it’s easy for tyrants to take power. People are stupid, and they will follow anybody who presses their buttons. All that’s needed to get the people to make you a dictator is recognition of the people’s stupidity and willingness to elevate you, and the lack of moral objections to using the people to elevate you.
Of course, purely selfish dictators are the least dangerous ones. It’s the obnoxious moralistic ones who are the real threats. Liberalism, which like all ideologies in America, owes so much to the black-and-white moralism of the Puritans, is but a secular interpretation of the First Americans’ merciless and cheerless culture and worldview: a small handful in a hostile and wicked world that must bring order to the chaos around them, all while monitoring each other for signs of decadence and sin.
In saner times, no Representative, Dem or Repub, would have been able to seriously say that communism works, either: http://freebeacon.com/politics/dem-rep-communism-works/
Vulgar huh? And how many of those mullahs and behavior brown shirts diddle little boys and goats? I’d bet the whole lot of ’em.
