Teh?
You weren’t one of the spelling bee champs this year.

Ron Paul’s website had things you could print out saying that “this is not a tip but a gift and not subject to tax unless you receive over $10,000 from one person”
Let me translate that 2nd to last sentence from leftist. Servers racially stereotype (fill in the blank) as non tippers.
Charlessays
If true, then it shows how “liberals” are willing to make a political point by cheating someone else out of their earned money. What f&ckwits!

Doesn’t this noodle head know that tipping is factored into a waiter’s wages, which is why waiters are paid less that the cooks?
Kevinsays
And also that the waiter’s/waitress’s tips are often (usually?) shared with other staff, like the bus boys.
Robertosays
If truly believes in redistribution of wealth, he should not only tip the food server, but go into the kitchen and tip the chef, the dishwashers, and any other person working in the back of the house. As for the busboys or bus persons, by tradition the food servers, share their tips with them. If there is a bar, he should tip the bartender and the bar boy. Instead of bragging about his refusal to tip, he’ll be able to feel good about himself , for practicing what those liberals preach.
Grizzly Glennsays
Lefties don’t like merit based pay. A server does a good job they get a good tip. A poor job gets a poor tip. This customer wants the server to be paid the same regardless of performance.
I don’t get tipping. I’ll tip if it is a place I go to frequently and I would like to have good service in the future, but otherwise, no. I’m not parting with more of my money than is necessary. I don’t see why they should be entitled to my money just because of some kind of tradition.
Ignatiussays
The note might be apocryphal but it accurately illustrates a leftist’s mentality.
“Therefore, everyone involved should be paid appropriately out of the cost of the product I purchase.”
Translation: “I reserve the right to determine what is ‘appropriate pay’ and you’ll never know how I define appropriate because as soon as you guess what I might think that amount to be, I’ll change my mind in order to both prove you wrong and to continue to avoid paying the tip.”
Only a leftist would profess his idiocy in the language of morality. If true, this is a person who has never needed to work in a restaurant and likely would never deign to do so.
MollyPitchersays
Progressives/leftists despise voluntary charity because it undermines their social programs, which confiscate wealth by force. So it’s not surprising that they don’t want to be responsible for tipping to help out the hard-working servers, because they have to dip into their own pockets even more. Hypocrites!!
The other day a friend and I had lunch in a nice restaurant, and the waiter was so professional, polite, and attentive. I commented to him, “You really like your work, don’t you?” He responded, “I like making people happy.” Although my friend paid for the lunch (my birthday), I would have given this young man nothing less than a 20 percent tip had it been my bill.

“Come the revolution, everyone will be free and equal, everyone will be prosperous, and everyone will be treated with kindness and respect. In the meantime, I can treat people like garbage and pretend that I’m being noble.”
It’s not about the service. Wait staff are on commission because they directly deal with the customers. They are getting a cut of the sale to encourage them to make more sales and more expensive sales. There is a reason they start you off with drinks and then ask you if you want more after the meal.

How (in what context) is it being circulated? Are we sure a progressive wrote it?
It seems too spot-on to be true. We know that progressives are so often ungenerous, hypocritical and self-righteous that they’ve earned themselves a stereotype about it. This fits the stereotype, a little too perfectly.
P.S. I like the point about tips being a gift that shouldn’t be taxed. Want to keep your tips from being taxed? Tip in cash.
What the leftie is saying is, “I am too cheap to tip. What is mine is mine, and what is yours (money or goods) is also mine.”

“Stereotyping”
I apologise for being Australian.
In some countries, servers make over $US20 (minimum wage for casual staff plus employer paying 401K equivalent) per hour.
When people from these civilised countries visit very poor countries, where servers get paid under $US1 per hour, we often tip very generously.
For me, I never tip generously when a boss is watching or when it is overtly expected.
Except for tipping businesses in poor countries that I return to, I rarely tip, but when I tip it is somewhere between $US9 and $US50. I do not consider percentages when tipping. About once a year I apologise to a cleaner, who will never see me again, with a $50 note. My approach is normal for people from countries where tipping is strange.
When we visit the USA, we find tipping uncomfortable, often find excuses for not tipping, and always discuss it as a weird US thing when we return home.
