A school board in America’s hat has decided to mandate the use of made-up words in order to pander to the extreme hypersensitivity of psychologically unbalanced people (by which I mean the Lefty PC Police).
On Monday, the Vancouver School Board approved a policy change aimed at accommodating gender identity and sexual orientation. …. The school board forged ahead, even deciding to adopt new pronouns for those who would rather pick no gender at all. A last-minute amendment mandated that “xe, xem and xyr” may be used in place of “he/she” or “him/her”. These are “sex-neutral third-person” terms used to repair the failure of the English language to allow for 21st century gender sensitivities.
Why did they not simply choose to go with the classic, grammatically correct “one” as the catchall for non-specific genders? (e.g. “One does not simply walk into Mordor.) The school board thought proper grammar was just too snooty and proper for today’s YOLO culture. So, “xe, xem, and xyr” it is.
